    Thanks for video! I was taught many years ago from some old dirt track and drag strip guys that on a 4 stroke engine ( 1. Intake 2. Compression 3. Power 4. Exhaust ), there is only one top dead center; that being top of stroke between compression and power strokes. I personally haven’t heard of 2 tdc’s on a 4 stroke. Forgive me if I’m wrong. I’m pretty sure it’s correct though. Superb video!

      Glad you enjoyed it. You sound right technically it is top dead center on both strokes.

    What about showing how to adjust the governor as part of engine rebuilding process? How do I order the Briggs & Stratton manual? . Good job. I must have missed the part of your presentation about readjusting the engine governor. Thanks

    Thanks for the video. I have a question? I have a 15 hp B&S I/C Gold OHV with cast iron sleeve. The problem I have with it is that after an oil change with it set to full on the dip stick, then mowing, the oil collects to a much higher level on the dip stick. What is causing the oil to be held in this tube.be so you cannot tell the correct oil level? Recently I picked up a used identical B&S engine only a 14.5 hp. It does the same thing. Any suggestions to remediate this? Note: The 15 hp engine, original on a 1995 Craftsman rider, runs great.

      It probably has a little block back in the engine. That is when compression seeps past the rings. I wouldn’t worry about it as long as it runs good and isn’t burning oil.

    Great video. I was wondering if you could help with torque specs for my engine. I have a 33R877-0002-G1. They have a lot of specs online but I couldn't find them for my particular engine.

    Great video. Don't know if anyone can help but I have an intek 14.5hp ohv which is blowing oil out of the crankcase breather. The engine is NOT blowing any smoke. I did a compression test and it was just over 80 psi. I put new oil in and checked the level, so know it's not that. Any help would be appreciated.

      Sounds like the rings are getting worn out. I would just run it till she stops. You can always try to put some thicker oil or Lucas oil treatment in there to help seal it up.

    The scotch bright rolocks are removing a little bit of aluminum. You can see it's rolling over the edge. I prefer to use a whetstone after the big chunks are removed, and just rub the gasket off. You actually dont need to get it 100% pretty either. It just need to be flat for the new gasket.

    • @MowerMike
      @MowerMike  7 місяців тому

      Those aluminum bits are from the scotchbrite itself. It has metal abrasive in it. Not sure what a whetstone is but sounds good to me.

      @@MowerMike It's a sharpening stone. It's flat so it wont round over or otherwise damage the case.

    I noticed that you left the o ring out for the oil pump. You may have found that before putting it back in service, but others should know that it was not shown getting installed and would likely be a problem if left out

    I want to replace the head gasket and the rocker cover gasket, but I cannot find the model number for the engine. I looked everywhere and it is not visible while mounted on the mower chassis. Do you have any ideas about what to do? I can't order parts without the model number on the engine.
