It's a good video relating to the engine performance. It increased my knowledge and gave me a lot of information about piston and piston ring. Good job and thank you
Well explained! However, a well-designed and maintained engine and its piston rings can easily last 400,000km/250,000 miles without opening the engine without the engine's oil consumption having increased significantly.
I have a vw tdi that's just hit 300,000 miles. That's just with regular oil changes every 10,000 miles. I'm gonna try and get it to half a million miles. 🤞
I had a Nissan Sunny from the 80’s. The engine lasted more than 450,000kms without increased oil consumption. Those early days Nissan engines were bullet proof
I am sakthivel from india. I'm studying marine engineering. I am really admiring of your videos .Could you try to post video related to ship engine side. Your video are really fabulous I ever seen

It is very important engineering and hard to do it with all pressure heat and imagining bores widen during heat . Also oil need to lube the walls without excessive oil consumption.
Use Top Engine Cleaner, I think it's AC Delco brand. Comes in a metal can. Honestly the rings might be too far gone, but worth a try. Regular oil changes and carbon cleaning are key. I had a 99 and it drank oil like water, I topped the oil at 1000 miles and at 2000 miles id change it. Those old accords just never quit. Thing ran and ran, I worked with a guy that had one he ran low on oil for two weeks, no knock topped it up and it kept rolling.
we are 20 years professional engine parts OEM manufacturer .Our quality is high and stable. We believe you will like our quality. Our engine bearing, piston ring, cylinder liner, engine valve mainly apply to Cummins,Caterpillar,IVECO,Volvo,Scania,Man,Komatsu,JCB,etc.
I have a question 😢.. What if the expander ring isn't placed perfectly. Let say, The two ends of the expander ring do not meet perfectly, for example one end is stacked on the other end or one end of the ring is not perfectly attached to the piston body. What will happen? 2:58
Can you make another video about how you set the piston ring because I saw different videos but it’s not similar tell us how the right way to set the piston rings thank you.
there are mostly 2 ways of doing it. most typical is with 3 piston rings. Many of the service manuals on newer engines say to put all 3 ring gaps at 120degrees from eachother. and another way is to put the gaps on opposite side of eachother. i personally put the ring gaps at opposite of eachother.
The rings act as a seal between the combustion chamber and the crankcase. However I don't see how this can provide a good seal when there is a clearly a gap on each of the rings. Wouldn't the gasses pass through this gap and leak out?
The gap looks big when the piston is outside the cylinder, but when installed the ring is compressed and the gap becomes very small - about 0.25 to 0.50mm and it almost disappears when the engine gets hot. A little gas passes through the gap but the quantity is almost negligible.
It's called ring in gap. If set properly and the 3 different rings staggered 120 degrees apart it will perform as designed with very minor compression loss or blow by. All internal combustion engines are designed and have been for decades to operate this way
Never explained the huge gap in the piston rings. The ends do not end up flush against one another after being installed! A ton of blow by gases can just pass on thru! Please explain this huge gap! Look at that diagram at 2:46, there is a huge gap that can also be seen after it is installed.
This video is simply the best! So illustrative. Easy to comprehend and it answers every question. You get 5-Stars!!
THANK you sir for uploading the video. My ears feel blessed to hear your voice.
Very comprehensive and well explained.

Totally agree. The estimate of 100 000 miles is false IMHO...Frequent oil changes with quality oil will greatly help improve longevity.
@@dmatteo1609changing oils at 10,000 miles don’t know how you lasted that long but if you continue it might not.
I'm at 430,000km on my diesel and blow by showed up just recently.
Very explained! You have prepared with nice animations, different from others videos, I like it👍
a very good explanation of rings problems . like and subscribed .
Well explained...clear lenguage. Thanks a lot by your time
This was very helpful and informative. Thank you
I found this video amazing!
Whoever invented rings was a genius. I would have designed the piston system with a tight tolerance around the cylinder walls.
I learn a lot from this video
Wow complete guide on Piston ❤️
Very helpful and educational. Thank you
Very educative and l now know why engine power loss is on my vehicle
Thanks well explained.
Big help...simple and understandable
I'm a mechanic this video help me a lot and i hope to watch your video at all time.
I had a Nissan Sunny from the 80’s. The engine lasted more than 450,000kms without increased oil consumption. Those early days Nissan engines were bullet proof
The early Datsun roadster engines had pistons with 5 rings.
They also ran lower compression
Now Nissan ranks near bottom middle of all car manufacturers.
A fantastic video. Thanks!
Very well explained... Million likes !!! I need to know about whole engine so that i can repair my own bike and car engine ❤
U explain very well
Good information, thanks for sharing
This is very important to me ❤
Well explained keep it up
I love the presentation ❤
Deatil technical information shared....thx
Thank you so much.
Powerful explained
This was an excellent educational video
EXCELLENT

Interestingly educative.
Thank you for this video its explain everything
Thanks for explanation. All stuffs is good.
Thank you so ....... much
Nicely explaination
Thanks... Please make a video about car wiring
2002 honda accord se 169,000 miles heavy oil consumption. Gonna try piston soak

good explanation of piston rings #👍👍🇵🇰
Plz make videos of smvt as many as possible
What is that?
Thank you!
I love this channel

Rc race cars don't use for high pressure waves they still have lil grooves which act like a seal but some don't have rings
loved this vid
Great video
Thank you your video.
Good job 👍
can you put video ,that How to Set rings gap position, on the piston
Thanks❤
Explicitly explained

Thanks a lot.
It is a good video
How about broken rings? I have found a few, with deep score in cylinder wall.
Sometimes I also use ring on my piston, to make it more durable
Man...
What piston?
Am now interesting to join you

Superb
Can you do a video about the alignment of piston rings European car if is possible a place where to place orders.
Very nice

Nice
Great.🎉
when installing piston ring why the ring gap have to be fare apart from other
If compression, PCV and valve seals are ok, I think it's oil rings that are bad, or could it be something else?
It's helpful
GOOD
Can I get set of piston and set of engin spare parts

On assembly you stagger the ring gaps so they do not overlap to eliminate blowby.

How big is the gap in the split ring?
Spark plug contamination photo is misleading. Work on piston rings is a long and expensive job.
In case mechanic upper 2 ring fixing a positive direction...what simtum showing engine starting ... please tell me

That was my best key . my professional area
Nice way ❤
You never mentioned how critical the ring gap is
JDM Pulsar and Sunny have 1 compression ring, whereas their european twins have 2 compr rings in GA and QG engine
Não entendo como os anéis de compressão recebem lubrificação, visto que a saída de óleo se dá no anel inferior. Poderia explicar? Obrigado.
Toyota said... 300.000 miles... But im still alive
So why not 4? or 5?
The audio is an interesting combination of a narrative written by non-native English-speaking things with an AI voice.
"Outer diameter" I think he meant circumference?
There have been many engines that use 4 rings.
Hi
except on the honda insight which has the most mpg of any car ever.
In my country it carry 5 u forget to check the oil ring
