I am a planning kind of person. It save so much time and trouble. But you also have to be flexible. When I was married (I'm widowed) and we were raising our family, I made crock pot meals at 10 a.m. (during morning kid naps) at least 5 days out of the week. Other days were simple oven meals made in a 9x13 pan.
These are really good tips. I spend so much time trying to match up socks.. my two boys bought the exact same kinds just different sizes, buying totally different ones would help so much! And they couldn't deny whose socks it is that got left on the floor anymore! 👍
I just got rid of 2/3 of my clothes...ahhhhhh best thing to do. Once a year I get rid of the socks too and buy new ones for my kids...the sales are great on those in August
i am so happy to see i am not the only one who as to plan this way! i have lupus and cannot do much so i cook only once a week put everything in the oven and freeze some. Your videos are so simple and clear its refreshing ;) thank you!
The sock idea works. It's not just about organising. It feels so good to jettison all the orphaned socks. I did this over a decade ago and it was money well spent.
I have my children put their dirty socks in a zip lingerie type bag. I wash it and dry it right in the bag and then it goes in their clean basket. They take their clean socks out of the bag and put in their drawer. No sorting at all. I love it. They use that bag again to put their dirty socks in. The bag is hung in their room on a small clip hanger.
Used to keep information for field trips and clubs, my older kids syllabus, etc in my planner, but I started taking a photo with my phone and saving those photos to a folder in photos and have less paper and always have the info with me anywhere. ( still keep the paper in a folder at home)
I have a friend that she would iron her cloths for the week. Hang the whole outfit on hangers. So every morning before she would get ready for work she knew what she was going to wear. She did this with her kids also so there was no running around in the morning wondering what to were
when you said "it doesn't save money" about baking bread. that was very freeing. sometimes I love to bake bread, almost always when we have soup. but sometimes it's cheaper to buy $1 bread from the Dollar tree. it's worth my quarter spent to save a little time.
Cant wait to begin implementing these tips! There are so many videos about organizing but you all have helped me tremendously! I just started watching today. Thanks so much.
I really appreciate your videos I like to turn them on as I'm right now cleaning and painting my laundry room but why I like y'all even more compared to others is I suffer narcolepsy and I have four children so I totally get everything you're saying and a lot of other videos I cannot relate to and I really appreciate your procrastinating tip I do that a lot and then later on I don't feel good so I can't get it done. You guys are my life savers such a blessing
I have fibro and keep reading I need to cook from scratch/complicated diets to feel better ie. sourdough bread, organic, soaking, etc. I do cook simple form scratch recipes but I have 9 people to care for and I'm tired. Sometimes I use convenience to stay sane but feel guilty. What is your take on all these special diets?
I have a cork board below my calendar for all school reminders to be pinned to. I also have a file folder 10 pocket hanging organizer right next to it for papers and bill organization.
I got the hanging file folder organizer for 10 cents in clearance and yhe cork board was a hand me down from a friend. My calendar is a stocking stuffer from my mother each year with inspirational quotes on it that she purchases from a local church ( this is one if thier fundraising projects each year and they are beautiful calendars )
I used to make whole wheat bread in a bread machine, that I bought used. I currently make gluten free bread. I would think it does save to make bread... why don't you feel it's a savings?

I like this video! Two things I need to be purposeful about!

Your ideas are brilliant in their simplicity and just plain common sense! I've learned so much from both of you! Thank you!!!
Yes! Both of our boys have different socks so I know whose is whose. Makes laundry so much easier!
I see so many women blame fibromyalgia or CFS for not being clean. You gals leave them NO excuses. What great videos.
I find your voices comforting to listen to while I clean

+uponamidnightdreary Yeah, knowing who needs to pick up the sock sure has helped with 5 kids! :-)

i think so too. I have my family pin their socks with the big safety pins.
Great sock idea for a large family. That's the on thing that drove me nuts about laundry when my kids were little. Matching the socks.
I like that idea about the socks.

I can't tell you how much stress my daughter & I have suffered because of waiting till morning re: school clothing.. Great Idea on the Socks !!

+TheVixthemom Oh yeah there are a lot of things like that that don't really save money. You have to make sure it worth your time too.
Thank you for practical tips for keeping a neat home!!
Planning ahead really does save a lot of time and headache.
