      Dogs are omnivores, so they could live without meat. They would probably need proteins supplements and while meat is a lot easier for us to feed them, you could go full vegan with the dogs. They would have the same problem as humans so would need to make sure they are getting enough protein and iron to exist, but it’s possible. Now if it was a cat, then you would have issues.

  • @SovietReunionYT
    @SovietReunionYT 3 місяці тому +4

    My favorite part of these stories is Amia's insatiable scientific curiosity driving them forward despite a powerful instinct to avoid danger.
    Although in this story I'm kinda taken out of it by the mention of there still being factory farming of animals for meat back on Earth. The way I would have written it so a ranching planet makes sense in a high-tech future is, the Amia scientist in that part of the exposition around 21:58 says something along these lines instead:
    "Of course they dont really kill animals for meat anymore back on Earth, except for some small-scale cultural practices among certain groups. They consider it cruel if done without necessity. Nowadays they grow brainless meat out of cells, like it's a plant, and consume that for the carnivorous part of their dietary preferences.
    But there's only so much biomass you can get out of a planet without destroying its native wildlife, so they've established this planet as a farm world to supply Earth. And apparently grazing herbivores are a very efficient way of turning poor quality grasses into calories sutable for human consumption. Trying to grow and process edible plants here would require orders of magnitude more infrastructure and labor. And with the promise of easing the pressure on Earth's over-exploited habitats, few have had objections to this project."

    Speaking of horse back riding, when they invented the train scientists were unsure what would happen to a human going faster than i think around 34 miles per hour. Nobody had ever really gone faster than a horse, or perhaps sprinting downhill, maybe on a boat? But quite a few thought your face would rip off from going too fast or your eyes would burst or something. Think steam trains at the time were approaching 60-70 miles per hour which was getting quite a bit faster than a horse.

    So...my ex wife's and my herman shepherd got to 10 years old, and like a lot of big dogs he got none spurs in his spine. This caused weakness and eventually full paralysis in the rear quarters. We found that there were wheelchairs available and bought one.
    Our vet told us that his acceptance of itn would be much better if we let him be fully unable to get around, dragging his rear legs, for 2+3 weeks. So that's how he was when this incident happened
    We took him and his two buddy Aussies to the river. It was the Metoleous near Sisters Oregon, about A mile from where it springs out of the ground. It's snow fed from 60 miles away and is about 40 degrees fahrenheit.

      We had J.J. laying on the ground and the other two dogs just relaxing while we ate a picnic, right on the bank of the river. The water moves fast and is cold. All of a sudden a little 2-13 to 3 year old boy goes pat is on the riverside trail just giggle, running, and having a good time.
      My ex and I looked at each other and I said our loud, 'Tjats not a good idea, him wandering alone near the rivers edge." I had once tried to walk across and had to stagger out, falling with numb legs, unable too e. I lose bodily control quickly on that cold water! I was just getting up when a woman came by, going the same direction as the little boy. "Did u see a little boy?" We pointed out where he went, she ran off after him, and we sighed with released worry.
      About five minutes later we hear giggling and screaming coming from the direction the mother and child had gone. Up to this point, JJ had just laid wherever we put him, unless we lifted his jind quarters to walk and go to the bathroom. But now, hearing the child scream and then seeing the mother tossing him up and down in her arms, he let out a low growl and start dragging himself towards to woman. He was going to protect the little boy, whom he'd never met before. We had to tell JJ that it was OK, it's alright, good boy JJ. He completely ignored his paralysis and was going to protect the little boy. I was never so proud of him.

      "Humanity, Fuck Yeah!", most of these stories are about humanity, written from another alien species' point of view, they can be about anything, from how dangerous and resilient, to how primitive and stupid we are, but we are almost always on the winning end of it.

      Humanity Fuck Yeah! is what it stands for. It is basically scifi (usually) stories where humans are awesome and great. That said this channel does do a lot of scifi that isn't humans are the best. The black ship is mostly about humans with some aliens around. Rick Writes does this type of story from the POV of an Avian sentient being.

    This was a damn good story. You add dogs to even a story and us humans can't help but get sucked in LoL. Man's best friend indeed.😊🤌

    ACTUALLY, wolves domesticated themselves. They gravitated towards the free meals in the trash heaps of ancient human villages. Those who lacked the fear flight response stayed when the humans came to throw away their unwanted bones, guts, etc... and this lack of fear genetically bred down the line. Wolves that depended solely on human waste then developed smaller bodies because the lack of prime meat. Then the brain reduced because the trash wolves no longer needed to think about what herds were best to hunt as all their food came easy from humans. The muzzle became shorter and less strong as cooked bones and guts don't need as much bite strength as grabbing a struggling prey animal like an elk, etc... It only took 7 generations for the wolf to be reduced to the prototype of the domestic dog. We have evidence of this in the bones remains of wolves at those village trash sites. Didn't take long at all for wolves to become a human's best friend. Wild cats even less time.

    Well I know it's b******* for the most part I do like the concept that humans are badasses and actually care about each other. I just wish that was really the truth as a whole
