I can see photo synthesis on an alien animal but not a plant without cellulose. Even on earth Photo synthesis is not unique to plants, But cellulose is completely unique to plants. But any photo synthesizing animal of reasonable size could only get a fraction of its energy from sunlight. It takes a plant months to grow under the light of the sun but only provides the energy for an animal to live another day.
Bear in mind: 1) They aren't plants by earth standards. So the chemical agent could be much more effective than chlorophyll. 2) The anaerobic process could be much more efficient than earth plants thanks to differences in bio chemistry.
@@RequiemPoete on earth, chlorophyll has evolved into 5 different types, [a-e]. Even then not all photosynthesis uses chlorophyll. While chlorophyll produces oxygen, anoxygenic photosynthesis uses different pigments. Now maybe photo synthesis in alient "plants" could have evolved something better than earth terrestrial plants, I still find it difficult to see plants putting significant energy into mobility by any order comparable to animals. But, I might find it possible for the purpose of science fiction that an sapient alien plant might "hibernate" for long periods, and store up energy reserves in oils and starches or some other sugars.
@@RequiemPoete do you know how much energy is lost during the make glucose (basic building block for starches and celulose). Plants are about 2-3% efficent at converting sunlight to plant matter that we call stored energy. Let's say an alien plant was double that 6% Humans consume about 2 kwh of ebergy a day. But we're warm blooded and temperature regulating Which allows us to be active over a wide range of temperatures.Lets say an alien plant that moves about and expends considerable energy to think an reflect on the enviroment it senses used only 1kwh of energy per day. Then on earth, the plant would need about 3.5 m² solar collecting area (leaves) not shaded, and solar tracking which itself should expend considerable energy support and move the mass of the solar collectors and their support structures. I still find it dificult to envision intelegent and mobile alien plants that can get around at even sloth speeds, without being too encombured by leafs and trunk, and branches. Now if the alien "plant" consumed other plants or animals, it might have enough energy. But now if it's consuming other plants and or animals for energy, is it still taxonomically a plant? Even if it has some photosynthesis, it's more animal than plant.
@@RequiemPoete what makes a plant a plant? Pretty much multicellular, Autotrophic (produce their own food sugars and starches), and have cell walls made of cellulose. Venus fly traps consume insects not for energy, ratherly for nitrogen and phosphorus. Flies are fertaliser for the Venus flytrap. But yeah, suppose a plant evolved to be more carnivorous and or herborvor than the venus flytrap for energy. Plants that move in responce to the environent are most generally slow or one time movements.

I really liked this one. Yeah humanity came out victorious, but at a huge cost. Not like the other stories where humanity overwhelmed the alien enemies. Here, it was a fight to the death for both. It was a much more thrilling story.
You see a problem? A defensive line BETWEEN A PLANET and an enemy firing actual solid projectiles. Every shot that the humans fire and subsequently miss the enemy defence fleet that’s lined up will then go on to hit the planet directly. If a kinetic round is being fired at relativistic speeds which means a fair few percent of the speed of light, then it is strong enough to go from rest to that speed within a billionth of a nanosecond. So that’s a physically strong block of whatever is being fired. So the point is that an atmosphere isn’t going to going to harm it much at all if at all. Also the human ships literally couldn’t miss, ever. If the crosshairs are on target when the round is sent on its way then at those speeds and at that distance it would hit seemingly instantly. Also bullets made out of radioactive waste are also kinetic weapons by the way. Anything solid and moving that was sent on its way with harm or death intended is a weapon and the mere movement of that anything is the kinetic part, so kinetic weapon.
Not very useful to say anything that moves and is a weapon is a "kinetic" weapon. Cyanide doesn't hurt you unless it "moves" into your body? i build a nuke here, but it is a kinetic weapon only if I send it to you (but if I bring you here, it no longer is?) I know people use "kinetic" in some contexts to differentiate between cyber/propaganda/and "blowing stuff up" but it breaks down if you are talking about the differences between ways of breaking things - laser, bullet, chemical, radiation, explosion, nuclear weapon, knife, heat, asphyxiation - they are only "the same" if you are comparing them to a subversive billboard.

Also since the restrained part of the human fleet is far bigger then they can curb and reign in kreigers actions, direct them, limit them, control them. By doing this Krieger wouldn’t feel abandoned and outgunned allowing him to calm and just unclench a little. No longer being pursued and hunted by his own and no longer outgunned at every planet. With this he won’t have the burning need to just go hard fast and total destruction, that is the safest and fastest way in battle, all out and no prisioners. This way the 30% of haters see that the fleet admiralty are with him and all is reunited and there is no problem. The kreiger lovers see that he isn’t being attacked and shot for treason. Spaceships, with HALLWAYS and FLOORS. The future is truly wondrous, ditching those confusing decks and passageways.
i noticed it was a fem, as well.
“ the galactic council is sad that we survived”😂😂
Floresen lights again, must be AI generated store. Very good reading.
Dreary and depressing. Has that dark DC Comics/Movies feel to it.
this story is all over the shop...
Good work!
how mentally ill are aliens to kill themselves over seeing humans fight eachother
They were genetically modified to be passive
Does that make the humans the John Wicks of the universe 😂😂😂😂
You know what they say “In space no one hears you scream” 😏
So, uh... does anyone else hear the phrase "Symphony of destruction" and immediately think of Megadeth, or is it just me?
Mike is a real one...
22:53 To be the mars manufacturing groups ceo.
💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
Humanity out here tossing space salad
The ultimate shit sandwich 😂😂😂😂
Geeze. Even Alderaan in this story doesn't survive. Justice for Alderaan
This was an epic story. Loved it
This is why you must always always EAT your vegetables.
Bout to go mow my lawn to stick it to these plants. Animal supremacy 💪
Agent orange, really man this is dark😂
Wo would want to fight knowing they could be picked up and served in a sandwich
Nope. They know nothing about a recon ship that was watching them and gave a stupid answer " We represent no one" wouldn't get your ship repaired and wouldn't get a friendly reception especially when they seem ready for war
This was a good story up until the Harmony Battle, it seemed like the Alien Lettuce had no chance against us, and then the next thing I know, we are on the brink of destruction. I know that there was a gap/jump in the story as I'm listening to it. But even going back, the jump is still there. Unfortunate...
Earth 2nd Amendment Protocol ACTIVATED.
What an unsatisfying ending...
How is it unsatisfying? Humanity triumphed
Great story first sci-fi channel I found have found a few since but this is still my favorite channel. lol a lot easier to follow then most. Finish my armored Terran story 😢😂
I just thought - i heard that before.
Hehehe, anti FTL is good, until they target every star and silence the galaxy. I'd call it "The Final Silence Protocol" last resort to nova the entire galaxy.
