- Porsche‘s Most Powerful 911 ever!! The Legendary GT2 RS!
When a 911 Turbo S isn’t enough, this is what is born! RIP our the front drive shafts, add more power, aero and a crazy body and thus is born the ultimate #Porsche from Weissach!!
Today we explore the history of the GT2, starting from the “Turbo S Lightweight” of the 964 Generation! A proof in concept of the GT2. To the first, the 993 GT2 back in 1993, a motorsport special of which only 57 were built, required to be made for Porsche to compete in GT2 division.
Then the 996 GT2... the #WidowMaker!! And every version leading up to today’s 991.2 GT2 RS!
Unlike the GT3 and RS which have the natural 4.0 engine: this has the Turbo’s 3.8-litre engine, Revs to a lower 7,200rpm Bigger turbos give 118bhp the Turbo S, also a water-spray system to cool down temps in the frunk!
This generates 700 PS or 690BHP and 750nm
And a 0-60 of 2.7 seconds: insane figures! It allowed it a Nurburgring time of 6.47, at its inception being the fastest car in the world.
The car we are testing has the Weissach package, which reduces weight by 30 kg thanks to more use of carbon-fibre and titanium parts. The package also includes a gorgeous set of magnesium wheels!
My favourite bit: the exhaust! The damned exhaust valves, are at the END of the pipes. THE END OF THE PIPES!!!
So we will explore the full history, and then look at the Rivals both outside the brand and inside, as well as the next 992 GT2 RS.

The Gt2 RS MR did beat again the SVJ record , the MR is a race division owned mostly by Porsche

Robert from Apex just got his. Aside from the upgraded W2A tank, suspension and brakes the MR kit is all Aero. Manthey don't touch the motor at all so I can't see there being a problem with street legality 🙂
It might've, but it doesn't come straight from the factory. It's a tuned version of the GT2 RS by Manthey Racing.

As far as obtainable, yes. I think the 911 stras is the pinnacle. The 918 is beautiful though.

Corvette 2019 ZR1 and the the future C8 ZR1. I completely understand that Porsche is Porsche, but Corvette has designed and built incredible cars for the price. I currently have a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport and couldn’t be happier, but I would own a Porsche GT car if I could afford it
Porsche, the brand that stands for efficiency, performance and lap time. Don't believe there is any other automotive maker in the market that can crank out this kind of sick performance out of a 6 cylinder engine. Its a car engine with 6 less cylinders compared to most of its rivals from Ferrari and Lamborghini. Yet its delivering more or less identical numbers and figures. Man Porsche is really the pinnacle of German automotive engineering.
Capacity is still the same as the 720S and 488 Pista and all are twin turbos.
True...Lambo's SVJ needed a whole another engine(6 more cylinders)to better the GT2 RS on the ring. Porsche did end up beating that Lambo SVJ record a few months later in the GT2 RS MR.
@@Peanutdenver Yes and Lambo technically isnt on the same page with Porsche, Mclaren and Ferrari since it doesnt compete in the hypercar segment. Aventador SVJ is a cool car but i just dont really hear many car enthusiasts talking about it....
@@DavidBoy333 I agree. I heard an old saying from a mechanic a few years ago about supercars, but I don't know its origin. "You buy a Lambo if you want to be someone, you buy are Ferrari because you are someone and you buy a Porsche to show them both how to drive." I may have fucked that up but you get the gist of it.

Another banger raz, what a great video. This is my dream car. Pinnacle of motoring. There’s will always be a faster car electric or what not, but I doubt it’ll ever feel as good as driving a gt2rs. There’s more just speed.

Terrific video and review. The RS is a complete destroyer of all comers. That said for probably 98% of the public, the plain GT3 is by far more than enough car to put a smile on every mile driven with its 9000rpm redline and manual gearbox option. Its a different kind of car for sure than the RS models, but as far as value for money and obtainability with a dealer, it might just be as rewarding a drive even at its lower limit and speeds (which are to be fair still world-class).

'The widowmaker' was the former porsche GT2 RS (the ones before even more). I think they 'developed' that part out of this one.

The Turbo S is the best daily and does not feel nervous in standard mode...in sports plus it is the beast...

The widowmaker moniker was born already with the 930 Turbo, but is associated with the 993 GT2 more closely than with any other Porsche model (including the 996 GT2).

My eyes the name was assigned to the 996 gt2 officially but was branded about in the 930 turbo era of stockbrokers
