Ozoliņi | Latvian Folk Song | Auļi Cover

- Опубліковано 14 лип 2021
- 'Ozoliņi' is a traditional Latvian folk song which praises the oak tree, a powerful and important symbol in Latvian culture. During the summer solstice, men wear huge wreaths of oak upon their head to embody the strength of the oak tree.
A massive thank you to Vilnis, Dainis, and Shivan for lending me your beautiful voices ❤ We managed to put this song together remotely using lots of recordings and emails back and forth.
Another thank you to Dainis for providing the English translation of the song - liels paldies 🙌🌳
Thank you very very much for watching and don't forget to share this with your Vecmāmiņa 💚🌿✨
(to clarify, I am not Latvian nor a native Latvian speaker - everything I've learned has been through my partner's wonderful family, who have kept their culture very alive and well, and I'm so grateful for the impact this has had on me.)

Why am I just finding this?! Beautiful! Summer Solstice. Druids' high holiday. The Sun at the peak of his power. Honor the Oak King.
Beautiful! Proud to be a part of this culture.
Your language feels like the ancient one. It's beautiful.
That's because Latvian is ancient language. 🙂
You are one of us- Latvians. You even look like Latvian girl. If I'd met You here in Latvia, I've definitely spoke you Latvian to.
You even have almost none accent in this song! What a wonder! I now only a couple of foreigners who do speak Latvian without an accent at all. All of Lithuanians do, thou.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Standing Ovation ❣
THANK YOU 🙏❤🇨🇦✌🏽
The song’s lyrics is so beautiful! It’s so meaningful! Thanks for taking the time for the translation, we got to understand the song beyond it’s rhythm and tone

I would love to hear that!! 🍂
Absolutely gorgeous!
Love from India ❤️💐 love the song ❤️❤️
No wonder. Latvian and Lithuanian are the closest languages to Sanskrit
same here! I want to learn
Ozoliņi is vocative inflection (in this song) of Ozoliņš (or can be a plural form in another context) so it's the same word not a variant.
@@chris-2496 it's a variant where I live, even in my birth documents, it's not about the language at all, even tho bcs I know the history. thank you tho
Very beautiful voice you have.

Thank you!! 🌌
Truely magical language! Lithuanian and latvian language give me goosebumps. As if I could hear the voice of the ancestors. Can I use part of the song You sing in this video in my Russian language video presenting different baltic languages? Of course with links back to Your channel.
I feel the same way about it! And yes of course :)
@@gwendelyne Thank You very much :)

Are you Latvian?!
