Pillorian and Khorada are the bands formed from the ashes of Agalloch. Pillorian has their album out now (Obsidian Arc). Khorada seems to not being doing anything, though.
I dont understand those people saying "I like everything but I hate the vocals" What do you expect if this is Post-Black Metal and is masterpiece, both, vocals and instrumental, If u want another shit then go listen pop shit
I don't think the problem is that people think the vocals are too harsh, but rather the opposite. The vocals sound quite hardcore-ish and not as extreme as they usually do in black or death metal. Sooo listening to pop wouldn't exactly be a step in the right direction. Also there's nothing wrong with criticising aspects of a band.
What the fuck? Post-black metal? Is that supposed to make you feel like you're a BM fan? Because you're not. This has nothing to do with BM. It sounds like a generic screamo/hardcore band. You don't know shit about black metal. Mediocre stuff, at best.
Slowdive. Black metal is half baked garbage. It doesn't identify as music. And ur superiority complex attained by listening to a 5 piece band that make noise is ur delusion of it being objectively better.

After listening to this album for a few months, I have reached the conclusion that this is one of the most desperate, yet moving, records in the Black Metal.
Any genre of Metal that involves a derivative of speed metal and growling is labeled Extreme. It's a range of genres, not just one. So yeah, Post Black Metal is an Extreme Metal genre just like Depressive Suicidal Black Metal is another kind of Extreme genre (much more extreme, granted). It's the same as labeling Black Sabbath as a Heavy Metal band. They weren't really heavy, they just were "heavier" than other bands at the time. They were initially a Blues band called Earth.

Been looking for something to fill that Agalloch sized hole in my library after listening to every single one of their releases at least a dozen times. This'll do nicely.
Very enjoyable, vocals are lacking of imo -even if I liked the clean parts, though, but definitely worth a second listening. I would be glad to see them live!
Can't seem to get into this. It's like they can't decide wether they want to be some dark, brooding hardcore or black metal, and fall into a languishing, punchless limbo. Glad they're finding an audience though.
I agree. This album feels somewhat different than Aokigihara and the other ones, but they were still able to bring out something that sounds nice. The lyrics of the first song are kinda common and not that well written, but at least the vocalist easily conveys how he feels about loss and grief.
If Harakiri for the Sky and Agalloch toured together, I firmly believe the Sun would refuse to rise for a whole day.
Out of respect.
Unfortunally this is not possible to happen anymore...
RIP Agalloch!

Music is supposed to be whatever the artists themselves want it to be. Both Mütiilation and Harakiri For The Sky can rock at the same time ;)
