But what was state of the art at that time, can make sense with the experience accumulated over the past 10 years, with a complete re-recording while retaining the earlier basic mood. I think this is an overall improvement, but I absolutely loved that raw sound on the original and the highs from that rawness are missing here (4:16, 41:21). Also think the piano in "Homecoming: Denied!" should be louder. It sounds super far back in the mix to the point that you might miss it if you didn't expect it to already be there.
My thoughts exactly. The highs are decimated, compare the glorious acoustic bridge in Jhator with what we have here. The modern HFTS sound is good but honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong with the original recording. New artwork is very much welcome though.

I wasn't sure that they would be able to capture that magic when a lot of it came from the wall of sound that the heavy distortion gave. They ultimately didn't, but I do think they managed to improve some things too. There are always tradeoffs.

I have been passionate about Hardcore for over 20 years. My buddy introduced me to Doom Metal to help me feel emotions again by a song called A Solitary Reign. Now I found these beautiful artists thank you for letting me cry I need to feel and I'm trying your helping me more than you will ever know

@@Broimsatan Oh yeah man. I wouldn't be where I am without music like this. It's very therapeutic and healing, though others might not understand that. There's uncomparable levels of emotion in music like this. Check out the DSBM scene there's some pretty heavy emotional stuff out there. It's hard to take an injury like you have that takes you away from the things you love. You just have to shift that energy towards something you can still do, life's crazy man.
I've always felt, that this album and harakiri for the sky album were too raw, so I'm happy that this album finally get good quality as it deserves, hope that you will the same with HFTS album. Great job!

Been a huge fan of band. In my opinion, this album was (original) peak of their discography. Re-record here, instruments sounds very clean and mid-range blunt vocals. No soul here, so sad :( I prefer, raw sounding instrumental, and high-pitch vocalized old Aokigahara.
The overall sound of the re-recording is better but there’s some parts in the original that simply can’t be replicated, like the tortured screams in the middle of My Bones to the Sea, and that’s fine
