@@GothicTopicPodcast Work on your title and thumbnails to appeal to a specific audience. Consider clipping the best moments instead of full episodes and providing commentary.
You have given the most realistic description and expectations for UA-camrs, excellent job!! It took 2 years to make my first penny and had 46K subscribers, my view time was lacking, until I dedicated the time to do shorts (that was 3 months ago) if people don’t enjoy making videos without receiving compensation, they WILL FAIL! this is not an overnight magic trick.

Try going with a larger total addressable market for your vids. Instead of Is So and so and all time great. Try: Is this boxer an all time great? Lots of people don't know specific names, but they are interested in boxing

I uploaded 5 videos which got 0 view for almost a month. I constantly checking . Then I stop and just do what i love. I continue to write script to make videos even if noone is watching. Then all of the sudden, 1 out of my 5 videos got over 500 view. Then other video kept gettin view. It’s fascinating and I’m happy a few people like the videos.

After 2 failed channels, I think im in a better place bc I have no expectations and I just don’t care as much. Plus I’m making content I want to share. Keep going and best of luck!

You are sharing logic and good reasoning as compared to the countless channels that need to say the same thing over and over but simply change how they say it every week. ( Until they seem to all change their minds every five weeks and go with the "out with the old and in with the new" methods ).
On the one hand I get you because it's literally all about hooks, titles, thumbnails etc., on the other hand I get them - a majority of viewers are new and aren't subscribed every time we post so they always cater to newer audiences. Some people need to hear things again and again to take action.
This was absolutely excellent. I’ve wandered away from my original content which was very unique because I’ve felt I needed to be a bit more like others and do what is popular… which is so not me, and so not in accordance with what my original audience loved about my channel at the start. Returning to that original content is already boosting my views again and I’m closing in on 4k. Keep it up, imo you have the right attitude and understanding of what it takes for sustainable success

I hope the fire in me stays lit. 5 days ago a fire lit in me and I made 6 shorts and 6 long form videos. I was at 150 subs and reached 225 today, which isn’t a lot by any means, but at least I’m seeing the hard work pay off. I know I’m doing these videos for the right reason because I know there is someone on the other side of the screen that has been dreaming for decades of buying there dream Rv and taking that dream trip with the family, but the daunting landscape of all the different options out there makes it hard to make the jump. The more I post the more I know they are getting an honest look at what’s out there. I also really really enjoy making these videos and learning cool new ways to edit them. Fingers crossed I keep the consistency and momentum. I’ll come back to this video periodically and see how much I’ve grown🙏🏼

I like the fact that you've mentioned that one should just be uniquely oneself! There are too many copycats out there and it's getting bored to watch the same old themes/stuff. However, I'm struggling to get more views and subscribers after noticing my videos seem to be appeared on odd/irrelevant suggested videos on UA-cam. Not sure if it's something you've experienced before.
1. You don't have enough long-form videos for YT to have enough data to figure out your audience, try posting another 30 videos in the same topic.
2. It might be because of shorts, watch Evan Carmichael's How to Start Making REAL MONEY on UA-cam (works for all niches) - he talks a little bit about this

@@Kingeducates Appreciate the reply! Yeah I am still reminding myself to try to be consistent with my long form vids as I think the editing part is often the daunting task for me unless I do more talking-head videos. Anyway, keep up the good work with your channel.

Your spot on. With everything I noticed all the same things and have implemented them with some success. This will take 2 years at most with understanding these tips. The only thing I disagree with is shorts but only if your trying to start a business people who watch shorts are only interested in entertainment.
I just haven’t been focusing on shorts at all😅

Yesss, for new UA-camrs, titles thumbnails hook are important, but that comes after being able to be accountable to yourself. Starting a business is the ultimate form of personal development

I'd wager most people believe there's no "barrier to entry" to becoming a UA-camr. But I've found the biggest (maybe only) barrier is just your dang SELF.

Good stuff. It's an interesting ride.
Suggestion - lots of echo in there. Hang a sheet behind the camera to kill echo from that direction, get something on the walls as well. Windows are hard - you want to view but glass reflects sound big time. Just some observations from a guy whose audio gets overwhelmed either by cicadas or traffic noise.
I’ll keep that in mind and make changes when I can!

Great video I tell my community the same just get started and don't let your fear get in the way. It will take time and effort but its worth it even if its just pushing yourself out your comfort zone. Once you breakthrough that you realize your the only one holding you back.

Problem with shorts is they attract subscribers with short attention spans, so they will actually tank your long form watch time.
I don't think they'll even watch your long form - I have been noticing it messing with my suggested video analytics though

I like your video but you’re wrong on one thing, shorts don’t count towards your 4000 watched time monetisation requirement. However, they’re great way to grow your channel fast. Therefore, I would suggest doing both. Long form videos to build a loyal audience and build your 4000 if you’re a new channel and shorts just to get more subscribers quickly.,
Yesss, I was looking into it and just found that out as well - I have found that shorts may or may not be messing with my suggested traffic source on my long form

I use my trusty iPhone 15 Plus on Cinematic mode and a ring light :) Color grading in post is what makes the difference.

So you mean that if a channel has long and short videos, the short videos watch hours are counted for monetization for the 4000 hours watch time requirements? not 10 million views in 90 days ? because I was thinking its either one.

Your channels issue is inconsistency. Your topics jump around. You have finance, UA-cam, content creation, life advice. Pick a niche and stick with it.
Taking advice from someone who isn’t successful is not a good idea.
Not everyone starts a channel knowing what content they want to post - it takes experimentation to figure out what the niche is. Ali Abdaal calls this the archaeologist approach :)
