4 common things keeping people financially stuck (after sending 200+ DMs)
Join the freedom planners (free): www.skool.com/debt-free-and-building-wealth-7633/about
2014-2017: Graduated with an accounting, finance, and business education degree, but overspending on fine dining every week, in love with credit cards, knew nothing about investing
2017-2020: Moved abroad, became religious about lean FIRE, had an 80% savings rate, but had no social life and was desperate to get rich - bought into " get rich quick" courses (while I had shiny object syndrome) and kept losing money in the stock market because of information overload and not knowing the best way to financial freedom.
2021: Met my wife, committed to give her the best life I could, learned about financial planning and investing that actually works from books and real financial planners
2022: Closed my first rental property after saving over $300k (while taking my wife out on vacations)
2023: Crossed $100k in income, while working a LESS demanding job.
2024: Monetized this YT channel, building a financial coaching business to help families become wealthy while enjoying their money guilt-free.
Now and onwards: helping you give the people you love the life they deserve.

Canada has more than enough problems right now, and there's a wide range of opinions on how to solve them. Nevertheless, Canada is our home...for most of us, our only home. It's a home we care about deeply. It sounds like Canada was a home that you were never really committed to - probably for the best for both you and this country that you made a permanent move.

Yess thank you! I've been thinking this exact thing as I've seen all of that content coming out. My net worth is already over 100K and it's still going to take me about 5 years to hit 300K - and that's with investing $20K a year! I understand what they're trying to convey about compound interest but the reality is, at this level, it is still your income and the sheer $ amount you are able to invest each month that is doing the heavy lifting. My back of the napkin math was that somewhere around 400-450K was when my investment returns each year would finally exceed my contributions - I feel like that's when the snowball really starts rolling!

I wish more Canadians would travel more. I think it’s healthier to see Canada in relation to their own views of the world. I have lived all my life in Canada. Not in my old age I find we live in a country that was worked over by the wealthy in similar manner to the USA, and somehow combined with a socialist mindset the population has been handed into even more punitive for working class struggling members of society. Just like in the US we not only have a mindset of being cared for by the liberal thinking but even business has adopted a system of putting their failures on a bail out system to the point where a pandemic lines their pockets and gives them an opening to put customers on a downward path of smaller sized merchandise at the same time as they raise prices to gouge by double the appeared amount. Things have really gone right ghtward.. and now people are faced with choosing a government that will join business by corruption to make things even worse. Canada is entering a very tough time for it’s workers.

Where I grew up in Canada, it felt truly diverse. I am biracial (black/white), and my friend group was Chinese, Indian, black (and/but Jewish - like Drake or Eric Andre), Albanian, Filipino, and white. Non-white groups were never big enough to form exclusive ethnic cliques. Now, where I live, and amidst all of the migration, I have a much harder time connecting with people because culturally, they’re not Canadian, and all of the culturally Canadian people are leaving, it seems. In my neighborhood, it feels like most people are recent immigrants. The last four years have been strange. Feels like a totally different country. Places cost twice as much; groceries cost twice as much; and your neighbors don’t talk to you because they’re economic migrants. Whenever my wife and I are out and we are talking loudly, white people often like to chime in because they hear we don’t have accents and they’re longing for a sense of community, I think. It’s not about race as much as it is about culture.

    • @Kingeducates
      @Kingeducates Місяць тому

Culture plays such a huge part - I go back to Canada every 2 years and the change for me has been sudden and drastic, not the gradual kind from being there every day

For sure, and thank you! I'd add being the best while accounting for bounded rationality - the idea that even if we had access to all information to make a decision on who is the best, we don't have enough cognitive power to process all the info anyways. So really, being the best means being the best within the options your employers or customers can consider.

I agree with some of the things you are saying about Canada. It has become very political. The current liberal government has taken this country in a direction that has been terrible economically and socially. Also, you are representing China as this non-racist society. However, it's quite easy to look non-racist when your country is 99%ethnic Chinese still. If foreigners made up 25% of the Chinese population, things there would become very different, I believe.

I think Canada is the book that should not be judged by its cover. In terms of infrastructure and beauty, it is truly remarkable and a place where one would like to live. But, that's not all. Just like how they say, in Marriage, love is not the only thing that matters. Canada has an extremely high cost of living, housing is unaffordable and if it is, then it's very small in SQ foot. Crime rates are increasing, due to a bad economy, good businesses and restaurants are closing, but cannabis shops and dispensaries are opening in replacement. Granville street and many others have shaky incidents daily, there are tons and tons of homless people on the street, some of which are injecting themselves with needles(I have witnessed). The cops are never to be seen around except for when you hear a siren probably around 10 times daily from my apartment building window. The youth is completely ruining themselves with the amt of drugs and other bad influences. Plus no one is receiving good jobs, or if they are then they are receiving it at a 40-50% haircut. Also, I have only seen international people genuinely care about people and be empathetic. Also, the healthcare system sucks. We don't have enough doctors and the govt has'nt done shit. I have changed 5 family doctors in 4 years as everyone keeps leaving. Not the same dream I had once imagined it to be in the early 2000s.

I pay taxes as much as anyone. My salary gets me through the month and I can't have any savings. I live in a 1 room + 1 bathroom apartment that doesn't even have a kitchen. I studied for 3 years through the lockdowns to get a better paying job, but for every single job there are at least 300 applicants. Due to all the stress and economic problems, I recently had a hormonal imbalance and tried to find a doctor. After 14 months and 5 referrals I finally found a specialist. It turns out that my condition "isn't covered" by the government and I had to shell out $500 for every injection despite paying exorbitant taxes for the promise of "free" healthcare. I used to work in another country and used to drive a brand new Nissan Maxima. I thought that migrating to Canada would be mutually beneficial to both myself and the country. It turns out that Canada is a scam. I came here with almost $90,000 and now living paycheck to paycheck. Now I'm looking for every opportunity to escape but can't even afford moving away. Avoid coming here at all costs.

Your job and remuneration in China is fantastic - almost sounds like you’re working in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or some place thereabouts, but actually much better. Excellent choice - and great video. In-hand earnings for citizens, PRs or skilled expats viz. students, temporary workers and working holiday visa holders is lower in Canada compared to the US …the only attraction factor/appealing end-result for expats including potential PR applicants is the probability of a PR visa and the cost/effort needed to obtain PR. Unless there is potential for a PR visa, no international students will bother to enrol at Canadian universities. Simple! If you are a qualified high earning skilled expat in countries like Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Canada and Switzerland then you end up getting depressed during 7 months of darkness, you pay a lot of taxes that support lazy Iranian, Syrian, Palestinian, Pakistani, Khalistanis, Lebanese, Somalian and Nigerian thugs, beggars, welfare cheats and terrorists. Law enforcement is useless, the legal system is toothless and the elected governments protect murderers. Italy, Greece, Spain and Australia are now becoming the same - the Australian Government just ordered 3000 refugee PR visas for Palestinians and intelligence agencies in Australia have increased the national terrorist threat from ‘possible’ to ‘probable’.
