- Chaos is a beloved and iconic part of Warhammer with a lot to offer beyond The Big Four. There are more than just Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Nurgle and even they have a lot more to them. Chaos Dwarves, Norska, and warbands of Warcry have a very interesting spin on the Chaos lore and we will examine them here. Let's take a look at many interesting iterations that go beyond the standard and see how they can be used in TTRPG games.

Now here's some actual insight on my part. Chaos in 40k especially has this issue of not being chaotic enough. Fantasy has this issue as well but nothing compared to 40k. The warp in 40k feels...boring. Like the fact that GW decided that there is nothing in the warp besides Chaos, Emperor, G&M, and maybe the Greater Good entity is boring. Like the fact that Slaanesh killed off the majority of xenos gods is just kind of...boring. All xenos gods are either fake or dead, the Eldar Pantheon, the one god that the Hrud follow, etc. I would much prefer a greater variety of warp entities. And tbh the fact that every single thing from the Warp is an asshole also kinda makes it boring. Like officially good things might exist in the warp but they quickly get destroyed, which is grimdark but is also kinda stale in my opinion. The fact that Daemons don't feel chaotic but feel very template-y is also sad. I think that the 40k universe would be more compelling if it took notes from Fantasy. Yet again, the Imperium is supposed to be mega grimdark, dehumanizing, and all that, but through that sheer fact it's less compelling than the Empire from Fantasy. The High Elves feel more sympathetic than the Craftworlders(whom are still my favorites), the Norscans also feel more compelling than the forces of Chaos because they feel more...real. it might be because it's much smaller scale but i actually prefer Fantasy's worldbuilding by the sheer fact that it's less miseryporn and feels more like a lived in place
Yeah my problem with Chaos in 40K is that if you aren’t a Space Marine you don’t get any representation on the Table Top except as Cannon-fodder. In fantasy anyone can be a Chaos Champion, you can be a doctor, a prince, a scholar, a tribal warrior, or a simple beggar, and you have a chance to become a great chaos warrior. But in 40K in order to become a great Chaos Champion you must be the right hand man of one of the Traitor Primarch, who fought in the Horus Heresy 10,000 years ago. Chaos in Warhammer Fantasy and AOS is all about Ambition and a will to power, Chaos in 40K is about 10,000 year Daddy Issue induced Temper Tantrums.
The numbers speak for themselves 40k is better then fantasy and the bedrock of GW

Interessting vid, one of my fav minor chaos god is morghur, his literal chaos is incredibly thematic for the beasts of chaos.
The greedy god is Ranald, not Randal. Randal was from Zelazny's Amber?

Really enjoyed this one, having almost finished my almost defunct Legion of Azgorh army, I relate hard to this video 😆 Warcry adds so much more flavour to slaves to darkness with it's different interpretations of Chaos!
