- Sure, the guys have had acupuncture before, but have they had 1,000 needles in their body at one time?! Today, Zach is going to do just that, and Kwesi, well, he’s going to watch.

I love that Zach was able to get his therapeutic adventures written off as a business expense. He's doing it right
Yes but he is also kinda promoting something that isn't really good :/
@@CatDaddy. What is he promoting that isn't good? I am unaware
Except that this is kind of overkill and probably no longer therapeutic at these numbers.
@@CatDaddy.what? They literally said in the video that you shouldn’t try this at home
@@johanna3784 Yes, you shouldnt try a 1000 needles and you shouldnt do acupuncture without professionals. However with the help of professionals it's completely safe. It stimulates the nervous system and the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. It's been researched that acupuncture can help with back, neck or knee pain, etc.
love the energy kwesi brings, him and zach really bounce off of eachother so well. Also kwesis reactions to the two he got put in is so funny
They are both weird in a funny way 😂
I loved when he scratched Zach's nose, "we're really good friends, huh!?"
They both have great positivity, it's a joy to see.
Kwesi should be the official 4th guy.
seriously i love him
@@kiwismurf4536 he already is to me
I feel like just counting 1000 needles is challenging enough
That's why you open a fresh box... so you don't have to actually count.
I counted to 1000 once when I was 9. It's a vivid memory for some reason, when really it was just the drive to my grandparents' house for a normal day lol
@@UlvdronningI used to count as high as I could while on long drives as a kid 😂 that was a memory trigger
They are probably counted by weight lol
Loooools too tru
Get yourself a homie who'll scratch your nose while 400 needles collectively are in your hands 💪
That moment was so wholesome
*600 😂
Wait YASS 😂
That level of vulnerability
Kwesi being there as a reaction specialist is exactly what kwesi needs to do as an official profession
0:31 - "I hit my out-of-pocket insurance maximum this year cuz of the ole' glass-in-the-leg situation, so I've been going to get acupuncture twice a week." Sentences that are so Millennial, it hurts.
very American, too!
And also a wedding.
@@traumgewitter7324 I was gonna say... way more American than generational
Fyi the record that Kwesi mentions of over 2,000 acupuncture needles was all in the head not the entire body like what Zach is doing😮
“Hey look at that, we’re the same!” - Kwesi with 1 needle and Zach with 469 needles.
The acupuncture needles are so thin and flexible you can press down on one and it will bend against the pressure rather then stick into your skin. Hence the little "tube" for applying them.
Wish I saw this comment earlier; when he stood up, I got nervous that he'd bump into something by accident and push the needles further into his skin 😭😂
*than
i love zack doing exploration of any type health specialty, such as this, mental health, chronic pain, or disability! makes me feel seen and awesome to see that being represented through the perspective of someone who also shares chronic pain like i do.
I love how the mom immediately jumped to yes of course when Zach asked if they could make him more beautiful. Soooo sweet!
Next episode; how to remove 1000 acupuncture needles using an MRI machine
this common wasn't all that funny up until the MRI machine bit. that mental image has me HOWLING
Jesus Christ 😂😭 LMAOOO
I’m torn between the image of all the needles coming off at once and wondering how many might get pulled through his body 😳
Omg that is terrifying
I was in a car accident, nearly head on. Both airbags activated, my car was totaled. I had whiplash, my patella was bruised, and I jammed my right hand somehow. I found a great chiropractor who fixed my neck and lifetime back issues. When I complained about the hand/forearm pain, he recommended acupuncture, which he was also certified in. It was painless but I would have a buzzing feeling after the session for several hours. Then the hair on that arm would stand straight up. The fourth session it felt like bees were stinging my whole hand. But after I managed to get some sleep, the feeling was gone and so was the pain. Permanently. Magic.
when choosing the thumbnail
Rachel: Zach, you wanna make it attention grabbing, scary or nightmare inducing?
Zach: Yes
Its notoriously challenging to be a licensed acupuncturist in California. The regulations are stiff. We can support these practitioners and their habits, even if this an extreme demonstration for viewing purposes ☺️
For all concerned about sanitation, they do swab with 70% alcohol (standard medical practice) before inserting needles into the skin. Its probably just not shown on camera. You can see a clip of a swab when they did head points on a sound guy!
Further, its up the the practitioner if they wear gloves since the risk of blood-borne pathogens is lower than other professions (but not impossible). If you wear gloves with one patient, you have to wear them with all patients.
All needles are single use and come packaged in sterile wrappings. These are standardized and only can be purchased by licensed practitioners and students (in Canada anyways).
Acupuncture is a 3-4 year program with biomedical sciences and eastern medicine components. Physios and other "medical acupuncturists" take continued education courses that are about 1/4-1/3 of the time of acupuncture programs.
As always, continue to do your research! Find licensed professionals with qualified education. Each practitioner has a different vibe but all should be practicing based on their locations standards.
A great resource is your state/provincial regulatory body for acupuncture; they are responsible for protecting the patients, not the practitioners.
Love all this information! Thanks for taking the time to share :)
I love these medical try videos but we miss the after it’s done stuff and the how do you feel a week later, a day later, or more time.
Yeah follow up video would be nice or even just a 5 minute interview going over how they felt any changes they noticed etc
Kwesi laughs like a joyful cartoon bear and i love him so much
I've tried acupuncture with two different providers. The one that actually helped me was this nice, older Chinese woman who had been an emergency room doctor before coming to the US. Maybe it was more placebo effect than her being better at it - I put much more stock in someone who understood and had practiced Western medicine saying they could help me than the kind of wishy-washy first one that talked about group acupuncture feeding off of each other's energy. Even with her, though, I just felt like I slept better after it. It didn't help with pain relief, but I was only in town for a few weeks. Maybe that just wasn't enough time. Sleeping better was definitely welcome, though!
The thumbnail is terrifying
It's giving _Pinhead_ with a pinch of SAW. 💁🏻♀️✨️
And once again Zach & Kwesi do something wild & wacky… love these two 😂
Would not recommend if your body is hypersensitive or proned to keloids. My whole shoulders and chest developed a bunch from doing so. 😔 living with it for 10+ years and it’s mad annoying. (Yep I’ve seen plenty of dermatologists in that time)
Thanks for sharing this. I wanted to do this but I'm keloidal.
Thanks! Was wondering if it was safe for people with keloids.
always wanted this for nerve damage on a fracture scar area that keloided, tysm for warning us 😮
Kwasi being in a video increases it’s enjoyability by atleast 2x
I can’t explain it but I feel like they don’t want me to try this at home
😂
😂
You could’ve named it “Zach Becomes Hellraiser”
Thank you, I came here to the comments looking for Cenobite jokes.
Zac just embracing the scary sleep demon energy justmakes me HAPPY😊
I would love a follow up as to how Zach get after!!
I’m glad Zach is taking care of himself more these days, it shows and he looks so healthy!
I would have loved to hear about how he felt in the following hours
I like how the acupuncture docs are just so unhinged in the slightest way
like casually offering to stab the try team with needles
“You know when I got here I was aware of my achy body. I would say I’m no longer aware of it” really good line from Zach 😂
ngl I also would have loved to see the process of removed all of them. See how many little teeny blood dots he ended up with. Whenever I got acupuncture my face would ALWAYS bleed. Obviously not a lot, but just like a couple drops and I'd be driving home with a few random little spots on my face.
Kwesi was SO immediately onboard at the idea of putting 4000 needles in Zach just to win a world record 😂 as expected tbh. I imagine Zach asking "hey do you want to react to a bunch of needles poking into me" and Kwesi going "say no more, tell me when" peak friendship
I love Zach’s videos! Acupuncture and beekeeping are two things I’ve been kinda scared of, so it’s nice to been nice to see more about them
have you... watched Hannibal? If uou haven't, don't
kwesi and zach have quickly become one of my fave duos of the channel
Would love a behind the scenes for this. The whole vibe of the acupuncturists interacting with everyone was so good. Would love to see what had to get cut for video time
Zach is doing the absolute most for this channel and I am here for it.
Just a heads up from a biologist: acupuncture is great, but scientific studies show it gives basically the same benefits as massage. Outside of just making you feel a bit better for a while, the rest is bullshit.
Please be careful about spreading misinformation, and keep being awesome 💜
I really appreciate this comment. Everything mentioned in the video seems to be taken at word and without any challenging or citation.
YES WE LOVE SPREADING TRUE INFO YOU SLAY
Thank you for this comment; it bothers me incredibly as someone who is disabled and a target for stuff like this when people spout off about pseudoscience without giving proper disclaimers. They’re talking about “chi” as though it’s a studied medical thing that’s proven to exist 🥴
Sometimes massage is too much for certain injuries and acupuncture gets into the spots that it needs to without the pressure and pain from a massage.
Yeah I was listening to the “benefits” and it gave pseudo a little bit
Between the treating infertility claim and the ‘your ear being firm means your lower back is tight’…. Big yikes. Claims like these without a notation that they are not substantiated is so dangerous!
agreed!!
I’m also a bit perturbed by the fact that there’s no gloves being used and we don’t see any sterilizing of the skin. Your skin is your first line of defence and creating all of these new holes without sterilization is just asking for infections!!
Yes!
Yes! You'd think they'd learn from the ice bath video debacle.
Yuppppp
"We're REALLY good friends, huh?" 😂
can't wait to see zach's audition tape for sonic the hedgehog
Zach's head looks like every clipart of covid.
Kwesi was the perfect choice for this video 😂
*opens the video*
*sees Kwesi there*
Oh it's gonna be a good one
Kwesi looks like he glitched when they put that second needle in 😂. Just frozen.
Zach's head looks like the coronavirus.
I so wanted to see Eugene do this again because when he did it the last time he was like Lin from Legend of Korra; so much upset during the process but came out refreshed 😌
My poor husband was watching this with me until he saw the needles. Then he freaked out& left. Now he's back & I'm telling on him. He's dying just watching via YT 😂. I get stuck all the time for health issues. I'm at the lab every 3 weeks, so it doesn't even phase me. Cool video. Love seeing these gorgeous ladies poke poor Zach. I may look into finding acupuncturists near me. I have tons of medical issues. I was just in the hospital last night. So this might be an avenue for me. Thanks, guys, for sharing this. I'm super curious now 😁👍💕
Idk how to feel about alternative medicine because a lot of them are really rooted in pseudoscience. As a Korean person myself, my mom really believes in cupping and acupuncture but idk.... lol I understand culturally, there's significance, but some of the claims said in this video of what acupuncture can help with, like infertility for example???? Hmmmm idk about that lol.
I would watch Zach with a side of Kwesi all the time. Eugene and Keith are great, but Zach is a gem!
The forehead one they did on Kwesi does wild things to me. Like it makes me high lol it's so cool. Great video!
I like that there's a lot of discussion about the legitimacy of acupuncture in this comment section. While I think calling it fake or placebo is a bit unfair - researchers at Harvard Medical have found proof that it can help with inflammation, for example - it's good to remain skeptical about alternative medicines
also, Zach says at the start of the video that he gets acupuncture regularly, so presumably it doesn't have any negative effects on him personally
I personally don't like how uncritical they were, they just let the acupuncturists say whatever. although acupuncture isn't itself harmful, pretending it's a miracle treatment definitely is
I absolutely adore the fact Zach had some moments where he felt free of pain. YES GO ZACH
When the lady started talking about the cosmetic accupuncture i was thinking she prolly has it cause she is GORGEOUS
I love how Kwesi was affected by Zach getting acupuncture 😂 I love what he brings to videos
Zach and Kwesi are such a funny duo, and now i really want to try acupuncture!
For those of you asking, “who would try this at home?” Albert Fish is the man you are looking for
I’ve had acupuncture a couple of times and I won’t ever have it again. I have fibromyalgia and was told that it may help with my symptoms. The last time I had it, I became very emotionally overwhelmed and begged the practitioner to take the needles out. I wasn’t in pain at all, but I couldn’t stop crying. I was literally sobbing like my heart was broken - it was so bizarre!!!!
“What’s sounds like pain, looks like pain, but isn’t?”
:
Zach saying “What an oopsie doopsie” had me in tears!
Kwesi was so terrified when they put the needle in his ear oml
Kwesi is literally me watching this... worried and going please be careful Zach, we trust these acupuncturists but why and then questioning why I’m continuing to watch? 😂
Zach: "how many needles is too many needles?"
Me: like. 5.
This was cool! I do acupuncture as a treatment of mine for my mental health, carpal tunnel, and pain. It’s amazing how it helps!!! Thanks for sharing
Zach standing up and sort of swaying artistically, he looks like a ballerina hedgehog. Very cool!
Zach looks so much more muscular than a few years ago! Looking good!
As someone with a severe phobia of needles, my response to acupuncture would be the same as Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec: "This is the most stressed I've ever been in my life."
I love Kwesi's energy
I love Kwesis' energy so much, hes just up for anything no matter what
Imagine if the needles were glow in the dark, that would be such a sight
I did acupuncture a few times a couple of years ago. It was mostly my back and scalp but I always got headaches before that and after a session my head hurt but it wasn’t a headache. It’s been like 2 years and I haven’t gotten a headache yet. My back always hurt for days after a session though. I think I have a sensitive back
I love Kwesi's energy!
as a chronic pain girlie, acupuncture and cupping are top tier
I was with Kwesi that I'm not great with needles and I was squeamish when certain ones went in 😆
How did they not show the end?? I wanted to see how he felt after!! I love acupuncture but never had anything like this! My favorite is getting the forehead needle like Kwesi and one in the top of my head. I can literally feel like electricity traveling between the points! So crazy. Also I love the needles in the ear. Super effective for me 👂
Kwesi is a Try Guy he Tried to pick Zach's nose 😂❤
I went through a series of acupuncture to fix tingling and numbness on my left foot a few years ago. The acupuncturist inserted some needles down from my butt to my feet, and it's NOT fun. It felt like electric shocks and I dreaded going. At the end it sorta made the numbness and tingling a little better but I felt like I couldn't continue. I just hated it. Of course, YMMV.
I wish acupuncture worked for me like it does for Zach! I actually got bad pain flares both times I tried it 😆
If acupuncture helps you, great, and keep going. But to give a huge platform to someone to promote the pseudoscientific “theory” behind acupuncture and not to challenge or qualify it to viewers as non-scientific… honestly I wouldn’t even be against this video if there was at least a disclaimer.
“We have Hellraiser at home.”
Hellraiser at home:
I was pretty sceptic until a doc used acupuncture on my mom.
She couldn't lift her arm above her head for like a year.
Dude stuck a needle into her hand and it immediately fixed it.
It was mind-blowing.
I don't trust every practitioner ... Some of it feels to showy and esoteric.
But the practice itself? I'm not doubtful anymore
Yeah I think until there is actual peer reviewed studies that show its more than just placebo (and also an explanation that doesn't have to do with energy mumbo jumbo) I'm gonna stick to not having needles stuck in me lol. But if other people want to do it I'll watch.
@@myclamish there's some proof that it helps with inflammation, not through any sort of energy or stuff, but by increasing blood flow to the area, never would do it though
Rachel's reaction to the pic on Kwesi's phone is 🔥🔥🔥
I so want to believe accupuncture does everything these practitioners say it does. But if it did, then it wouldn’t be controversial or anything like that. It would just work for everyone and there wouldn’t be other medicines.
not necessarily, it helps pain, doesnt fix the cause by any means.
You can treat cancer with chemo, radiation or surgery. There are multiple ways to do something. It may be different from western medicine but I wouldn’t write it off just because it’s different.
It's the only thing that helped with my chronic pain. Love it!
As someone who has a severe phobia of needles I really hope I can make it through this 😂.
Meet Pinhead's little brother: Needleface
"Man, we're really good friends, huh" 😂
this is giving me a final destination flashback
i love the idea of bringing kwesi here and him hating needles.
for Zach's sake I hope this doesn't get 10M views 😂
Jonathan at the end like "i'ma head out" 🤣
Saying that acupuncture can cure infertility is really something...
Yeeeeeah. They are promising way too much stuff.
Accupuncture does help with pain, but they are talking so much shit lmao. Upside down human baby ear? What? This video needs a heavy [citation needed] check
@@juulvandijk5041 Yeah they lost me there, there's definitely compelling reason to think acupuncture can help with pain issues and stress, but I don't see enough people in the comments discussing some of the more batshit insane claims. 😭 Not knocking nontraditional medicine, but infertility? Saying your ear is somehow connected to your back/neck pain? Come on.
They didn't say it could CURE it, just treat it.
@juulvandijk5041 Pretty sure it's just a metaphor about how the ear is a gateway to treat various parts all over the body lol but it sure was phrased oddly. Old medical practices are full of metaphors
I am really sad I didn't get to watch a speedrun of the removal of 1000+ acupuncture needles.
Kwesi's eyes when he got the needle in his ear 😅
Didn't think I'd say this but I wish they included footage of the needles being removed too... i feel a bit tense now
the no no zone HAHAHAHHAHA
I had relief from migraines for 10 years at a time twice with acupuncture. However, this past session, the pain at the needle sites was excruciating, so I stopped. Hope to find a solution.
tai chi, meditation, affirmation, massage, and chiro has worked 90%
Your the man zac 😂your one of my faves on try guys your always will to try anything evenbwhen your nervous to an your buddy hanging out with u .
THE SHIT ABOUT THE UPSIDE DOWN BABY EAR JUST FUCKING FUCKED ME THE FUCK UP 😳
13:18 my intrusive thought of the day was imagining him falling on his face with all the needles in :|
He says it’s too many, but legit I’ve never heard him say all his chronic pain was completely gone!
