  • It's a large bird with black feathers and a redhead. Feeds on anything and since people feed them, against the rules and logic, they have been converted into a plague, breeding successfully and in full swing. The growing population in the cities ravage gardens all day long in search of food, scrapping with the legs, removing continuously the top layers of soil and mulch. They build large nests on the ground made of leaves, other compostable material, and earth, 1 to 1.5 metres (3.3 to 4.9 ft) high and up to 4 m (13 ft) across. Mound-building is done by a dominant male, and visited by a succession of local females, for mating and egg-laying. The male keeps the temperature of incubation with a sensor on its beak. The newly hatched youngs dig themselves out of the mound and then have to care for themselves. In the images we see different stages of grow on several different clutches.
