Great review. One comment regarding the 6 spd transmission, you can No-Lift upshift through gears with or without rev-matching turned on. You got to try it at some point, it is so addictive and allows you to keep your right foot buried all the way on gas, while up shifting at 9K RPM. It is Epic.
Carlos Largo, and Chris Harris are absolutely the best.. Only these guys would point of the gear shift feel in detail, and the total interior experience.. Keep Rockin it Largo !
I would take the Touring over the regular GT3 all the time. Short of going 10/10th on a track you will never notice the difference. 99.9% of the time this car will be the better option.
Why??? I really don't understand! They are almost exactly the same car, but is it possible to prefer the look of the Touring over the GT3? I really don't think so!
Carlos says this car isn't Tesla Model S quick, but at least it has a nice interior, amazing handling and braking. This car like all GT3's will appreciate in value unlike any Tesla.
GT2s appreciate. Most GT3s wont---maybe in 20yrs. Every single one they say is the last. There will only be one last naturally aspirated, and thats the valuable one----like the Speciale 458
I just wish they kept the duck-bill-like spoiler under the full spoiler from the regular GT3 instead of the regular 911 spoiler. Sure it wouldn't move, and probably even less down force, but it would look so awesome.
It’s makes the most sense of any 911 in a long time. Not everyone has the aesthetic notion of a 15 year old boy who just saw a Fast and Furious movie. I’m on my third 911 and I don’t want to drive around looking like a character from a Transformers movie but want the experience of a GT3. This was a variant that should have existed decades ago. Lastly maybe 1 in a 100 people who track these cars will ever need the fixed wing. Few people push these cars even on a track to the point that a fixed wing will make a difference.
Hi Carlos... I have a question for you. great review but one thing I dont think was covered was about the "daily driver" option. Can you use this on the daily or is the suspension too stiff for town, etc? Your thoughts?
By the way- the bucket carbon fiber seats can be adjusted up and down and back and forth. There is a button on the left side bolster that is electric and will change the height of the seat. There also is an after market kit that you can install that will lean the seat back another inch as well. Problem I found with the bucket seat is that you have to slide over the bolster to get in or out and eventually this will degrade that bolster’s leather surface. Not too uncomfortable in the seat but annoying to deal with in or out of the car. The 14 way seats are great and the 18 way are okay also but truthfully no one needs that much position adjustment. And my biggest grips on the seats that no one mentions is that the passenger seat does not have a memory button! In a $200,000 car with 18 adjustments and the passengers cannot store their seat adjustment preference??? Really? What would it cost porsche to add those buttons on the door? Dollars? Really cheap of porsche.
Carlos, the LWB seats are actually very comfortable and ergonomic... my limit is 4 hours per day. After 3~4 hours it becomes unbearable. Also driving with the LWB seats vs sport seats give you a different driving experience, LWB gives you more connected feeling.
It’s all on perspective you can get the same kind of fun through a PDK transmission is the same thing you could choose gears you could downshift it’s like a video game. I know how to drive manual I have been doing it for years but I think the PDK transmission is just as fun
I'd select the Manual also. I'm in the Mid Atlantic and the Nations Capitol and have the Beltway around Washington D.C. I live outside the area where there are back roads and fast highways. I love the interaction of shifting as I drive than just riding in a PDK..
@@02hreblue30 PDK is Boring for those who just drive the street and maybe a parking lot on the weekend. Very very nice, helpful, real world review. I never new about those bucket seats nor the “R” tyre option (I hate to think what the price & availability on those might be)….. Thanks !
A fantastic car but I can't help wonder what could have been if they gave the Touring model a much softer ride quality to be angle to enjoy it on a daily basis. I would do 991.2 GT3 personally because of the 992 GT3 looks and rode quality, but get the appeal
Is it possible to subscribe to presenters/authors rather than channels? I’ll watch anything by Carlos, Jethro, Steve Sutcliffe, Henry and a few other irrespective of which channel they’ve published to. Great vid Carlos.
You have it backwards. It is a more aerodynamic version. It has less drag. The non touring is less aerodynamic but has more down force over the rear wheels. In my opinion the touring makes plenty of sense for street use. The speeds in a turn for that wing on public roads makes it useless and it takes away visibility. If its spending lots of track time the wing is more desirable.
The previous Touring sounds better with its banshee wail at peak revs. STG (Seen Through Glass) in the UK has just tested old vs new courtesy of a Monaco subscriber.
I was thinking, 911 GTS touring, must be reviewed by Carlos then I see another guy on screen. oh, wait. That is Carlos, slimed down Carlos.🤣🤣🤣 Next time, please test drive on HWY 198 between San Lucas and Coalinga, California. They call it custom built Hwy for 911.
It’s kind of puzzling why it took Porsche until this generation of GT3 to go with a double wishbone front suspension and individual throttle bodies on the engine. You’d think both would have come out at least a generation ago.
Interesting how Carlos discuss more about the missing rear wing pretty much this entire video but not a word about the new double wish bone front suspension how this affect its handling or ride comfort? Or any benefit at all What about the main purpose of this Touring variant And how about the differences, if any with a regular GT3 in terms of driving experience, daily use or even track performance etc i believe the previous GT3 Touring was a softer car more suitable to daily use yet more engaging than regular 911s but this latest GT3 Touring.. anything? Carlos we all know it has no racy rear wing but what's more?
@@degusa1 But the 992 GT3 is alot closer to a RS, so if Porsche made the Touring slightly more touring it wouldn't be out of place and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires would have a less stiff sidewall and less grip, making it slower but more fun for some people(even more so with a manual transmission).
Talk about a low seating position. I'm 6,1 about 240lbs. I love it when a seat let's me get as low as possible. This is a very nice piece of engineering. A nice complete package. For me though the Z06 is on her way and I believe Porsche starts these around a 160grand? Pricey!
What an odd way to sell it. Starting out by saying it really doesn’t make sense. Really, implying it’s less than. The reality is, this is the most desirable Porsche.
Less aerodynamic version of the car? Really? If anything, I'd think it is a more aerodynamic version of the car, albeit having less downforce with the absence of the huge rear wing.
4:46 "There's something about operating machinery, complex machinery that's working at the peak level that it can." I call BS. The average owner will never rev their Touring to the RPM needed to reach peak horsepower and torque. In this sense, the 503 HP is purely a gimmick. These cars will not be tracked, especially not the manual. When driven on open public roads, even when there's no traffic, there will never be a need or possibility to rev to peak horsepower in any gear other than 1st or 2nd. Horsepower in all subsequent gears will only be potential horsepower that's absolutely never tapped.
I have never driven a porcshe but ask any one that own or drive one they seem to be next level on driving experience ,plus the build quality and the seem to hold there value better than most cars ,if straight line proformance is what your after the turbo S is the car of choice
What's better: How it looks or the sound it makes?
Sounds but looks are close 2nd. 🥈
I find the 992 rear wing butt-ugly. Wish there's a way to keep it down all the time.
Sound.
Sound is insane, and the video doesn’t do it justice. The noise, acceleration, and vibration (aka engagement) is second to none
Sound it makes. The 992 GT3 is actually quite unattractive looks wise.
That face he makes when accelerating in that makes the video totally worth it
