You know what’s blowing my mind is the absence of a score. The sound effects are the soundtrack
0:11-0:12 Han Solo: Hey, Wait! Ohhhhhhhh Bother.
wdym? 1:01 absolute banger! whhhhooop
Thumbs up for everybody who ever crashed into a tree while playing the speeder bike chase in every Star Wars video game that adapts this scene.
Special effects were good but flawed does not look real
I love videogames
@@TheMiketyson9hater. Troll
I've done it on purpose 😂😂😂
@@TheMiketyson9it was 1982 bro
I love how while Luke Skywalker (at least the classic incarnation seen here) is courageous and badass, he is never without humanizing moments. Even when he does something heroic, such as successfully hitting the exhaust port with proton torpedoes or slicing off the steering vanes of the attacking speeder bike with his lightsaber, he tends to breathe a huge sigh of relief afterwards. That humanization, in concert with his strength as a Jedi, makes him so appealing.
Well considering he'd just killed a million people when he blew up the deathstar I'd say that was pretty natural. The pilots who dropped bombs on Hiroshima were said to have been pretty scarred by it rather than whooping with joy.
@@RD-zx6py copiummmmmmmmmmm
@@RD-zx6py the deathstar was that, a DEATHSTAR a weapon made to destroy planets.
Not comparable with hiroshima where a bomb was dropped over a city.
Deathstar was a military base/weapon, like destroying an aircraftcarrier with a weapon which destroys planets. Two BILLION people were killed at alderaan. Innocent civilians.
Be smart when making comparisons. Instead of repeating the bs.
@@japetox I'm comparing taking hundreds of thousands of lives in a second. Not claiming Hiroshima was a deathdealing super weapon.
No need for a further response from you as you've already clowned yourself here trying to be a smart alec and totally missing the mark.
Five bucks says you try to play some silly semantics game here rather than admit that and keep it moving.
@@RD-zx6py You are comparing killing civilians in a city vs killing military personal in a massive planet killing weapon military base.
"The pilots who dropped bombs on Hiroshima were said to have been pretty scarred by it rather than whooping with joy"
No scars or remorse by killing filthy dark side militars which killed 2 billion innocent civilians living in a planet and were about to destroy a moon with more people on it.
Fun Fact: While Production was filming this scene, George Lucas told Peter Mayhew (the actor inside the Chewbacca costume) to not leave the set. So hunters wont kill him by mistaking him as big foot.
Facts that may save your life 😁😁
Proof? Or this is one of those typical "my comment must be entertaining and funny" situation?
@@DanielTAKDLook it up. Its actually really true.
That must have been a scary experience.
@UnorthodoxJedi Peter Mayhew
When Luke fires up his light saber you know it’s on!
After 40 year still the best blaster deflections in the entire series.
Luke didn’t screw around the moment he fired up his green lightsaber!
Chopping off that steering control mechanism at such close range was pretty cool, also!
I like the shot of the scout trooper too he's like "I got you now punk let's end this.."
*Luke cuts off the speed bike.*
Scout Trooper: HOLY SHIT!!! ARRRGGGH!!!
*Scout crashes into a tree while spinning towards it like a drill.*
that speeder “roar” when they’re in the distance is one of my fav sounds of all time, 0:30
What about the one at 1:00 I’ve always wondered what that one was
Sounds like a french horn.
Took me years to realise it was part of the bikes noise, I thought it was supposed to be some strange creature on Endor 😂
Mine are the tai fighter screams
0:32? Bc if so I defo agree unless u do mean 0:30
I can only imagine what it was like watching this in the theater in 1983. My Dad told me stories as to how the crowd was going absolute apeshit throughout the movie during the intense battle scenes. That had to have been one of the best human experiences ever!
It was mind blowing to watch. And when ever I've gone for a walk in a park or forest track with family, this scene ALWAYS comes up.
I got to experience it when they re released Return Of The Jedi for its 40th anniversary.
I was 10 years old when this was released. Mind blowing then. Got to see it on the big screen again this month. As awesome an experience now as then.
i REMEMBER...GREAT TIMES
I still remember watching this and being glued to the back of my seat fighting the g forces. And when Vader threw the emperor down the reactor shaft the theatre went utterly insane.
I'll never grow tired of watching Luke deflect blaster shots from the bike. They even did the pyrotechnics to bounce them in to the trees and make the trunks explode. I always wondered if Luke intentionally sliced off the control vanes or if he was aiming for the Trooper and missed. Either way he was going to cut the bike in half.
2:20-2:21 And 2:22-2:23 Scout Trooper: Huh? AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! (Crashes Into A Tree And Died In Explosion).
This one scene is more exciting than the entire sequel trilogy.
For sure
Everything is better than that garbage sequel trilogy!
Absolutely!
Ok b00mer
And the disney shows, inconsistently cobbled together, about characters nobody gives a damn about
I love the noise the Scout troopers make when they are KO’d and/or killed
Happy 40th anniversary to Return of the Jedi!
It's 40 years old??? Blimey.
@@WarrinerAnimations Time flies when you are having fun, bro.
Leia is 100% a Force User with the way she navigates that forest when she ambushes the Scout Trooper.
R.I.P Carrie Fisher ( AKA ) Princess 👑
I always wondered how Luke was able to find his way back after that long chase, and then I realized he must’ve used the Force as a GPS 🤣
2:21 That's why you must see what's in front of you when you drive something
Stormtroopers are such idiots.
The trooper was too busy looking back to see if his enemy was down, too late to notice the tree in front of him.
OT is peak star wars.
0:56-0:57 Scout Trooper: Whoa! Ohhhhhhhh!
I miss when movies were as good as this
What an awesome chase scene.
This chase > "They fly now."
The bits where they awkwardly shove into each other are oddly hilarious. And I mean that in the best way possible.
I am a Japanese illustrator. Fo Fo Fo Forty years have passed ! I can remind this scene Just like yesterday! Thank you for your up loading.
Best brother sister pair you’ll see
I remember playing a speeder game as a kid that was in the entrance at a Wal-Mart. (They always had arcade games that I'd play while waiting on mom.) I also remember a RotJ pinball machine. It was great being an 80's kid.
2:19 I have a Mandela effect of the scout trooper maniacally laughing upon seeing Leia's speeder explode when he turns around before turning back and screaming at his own impending doom.
This chase scene ranks right up there with 'Bullitt' and 'The French Connection.'
Anyone saying this isn’t INSANELY GOOD Special Effects, especially for 1982/83 is absolutely insane and don’t understand movies
One of the best scenes in ROTJ.
the sound is just wow!
10,000x better than the chase scene in disney's non-fan fiction.
A masterpiece
The chase scene in this movie: 10/10
The chase scene in the Last Jedi: 1/10
"And you said it was pretty here."
Well, it is.
2:46 Luke's glove switches to the left hand.
Oh my! Good eye! 👍
If Anakin would watch and do this speeder chase, he would have so much fun like pod racing.😊
"Hey you know what this reminds me of?"
"That scene from return of the jedi."
How is this way more engaging than the new movies?
This film in 83 was just an assault on the senses. The daddy of practical effects.
THE SOUND ....
When movies were good
Before the dark times. Before Kathleen Kennedy.
Trees a scout troopers worst nightmare, this is where it all began
2:21 You didn't see that coming?
3:21 And so, Luke then began his 30 mile hike back to Han and the others... 😅
What's a mile?
Pretty much. Hate that plot hole so much. 😂

(Biker Scout Screams)
💥🔥
Thumbs up if the closest thing to a speeder you had in real life was a 4-wheeler.
Cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ video phim rất tuyệt vời bạn ơi 👍🤝
Endor is like a maze. Because it's a forest planet.
Hey... Have been on Nar Shaddaa in SWTOR? Because THAT is a maze for sure...
I see.
2:18 Leia using The Force.
Awfully strange that those bikes don't have any rearview mirrors
I've noticed alot of vehicles in the ot don't have any mirrors, another r the X wings, in order to see behind U have to literally turn ur head around
Интересно было, бы посмотреть на эту сцену в 2023 году
To think that the end of the OT is 40 years old!

While John William´s Score is a Masterpiece, it still was a wise decision to not play any music during this scene. It does make the scene way more suspenseful and intense somehow.

Those poor scout troopers can't ever seem to catch a break on their speeder bikes, always crashing into the trees and exploding into flames. Or every single one of them is a complete moron who never thinks to slow down and jump off (like Leia did) when a crash seems imminent.
Aah!
Same scene (and same ending) like the podrace in the phantom menace 😵
Now, that's poetic.
2:22 I really feel bad
Did luke forget he could use the force?
Of course not, that's why he whips out his lightsaber to take out that last speederbike. If you're asking "Why doesn't he use the Force to instantly take them all out with his mind," that's expanded universe and Disney era bullshit.
Soooo
Lazy writing
Fair enough
@@LukeTopSecret You say that as if you could do better lol
I could definitely do better but can't be bothered

The compositing for this looks pretty bad which is a shame considering how great all the other elements in the sequence are. Ben Burtt in particular did an amazing job.
