- Finding more problems with our 50 year old project boat!
This week we're in Torquay fixing more of the problems on this old boat.
As you know we're working on this 50 year old vessel as we go so it's no surprise that we're constantly finding more problems and issues which need resolving.

When you had all the headlining down and found holes where water was getting in it was obvious that this was going to be a forever issue.
If there's one thing I hate on a boat is a damp berth.
Hopefully you can find some of the leak areas and seal them but probably you will be having damp internal spaces forever.
There’s literally only a couple of drips now and we think we know what the issue is. In the boats past someone has removed all the stantion posts and push pit and pull pit and then re-fitted them in a hurry and not sealed them properly. Once we do that I think we will have solved the drip problems

Trick for confirming water leaks.... squirt some talcum powder in the suspected area... it will cling even if a very fine film on vertical surfaces, wet the area, and its like a magnifying glass... a tiny tiny film of talcum will be instantly visible when it wets from a trickle.

Thats the way, maintain bit by bit as needed but also make incremental improvements then its a lifestyle rather than a job.

Yes that’s the one. I find it’s brilliant yeah. Not mega powerful of course but plenty good enough for everything we need it to do
