Thanks! We spent 3 years and $$$ developing ours. We did start with the P16 personal mixers; now using iPhone or iPad apps for our Behringer XR18 board. It is essential to include a router in the console (especially when you have wireless mics or other devices running on 2.4g) to prevent IEM and/or wireless mic dropouts.

Thanks for the comment. We tried the app on Iphone for each player path but every gig their devices always had an issue. I think it was more user error on the band members part so we abandoned that and went with the P16s.

Kind of a silly question, but with this setup, is it possible to use both in-ears AND monitor speakers?

Y- Split is really bad for Mic signals. For Line Level it's fine unless you get ground issues, then you're f*****. So always go with transformer isolated splits.

Isolated splits are needed for truly independent monitors. Otherwise, when a mic pre is adjusted at FOH (or monitors) , it changes the loading of the mic causing level changes and tonal shifts.

Is the sd8 unit necessary? We are running 2 guitars, bass and some back tracks. Not sure how the sd8 is integrated. What unit does the instruments plug in to? Patch bay?

The X32 rack supports 32 channels (38 technically, but assume 32 for this discussion), but only accommodates 16 XLR inputs, which are on the back. You can incorporate something like an SD8 (using an AES50 connection) To add more XLR inputs, and also outputs.
In your case, unless you require more than 16 XLR inputs, you won't need the SD8.
If you did add an SD8, then channels 1-16 would still be connected through to the back of your X32 rack, and channels 17-24 would be connected via the SD8.
