About Spider-Man Movie:
After incorporating elements of comic book style and design into many of his films, director Sam Raimi helms this straight-ahead, big-budget comic book adaptation, which also marks acclaimed young actor Tobey Maguire's first dip into live-action blockbuster filmmaking. Spider-Man follows the template of the original Stan Lee/Steve Ditko source material, with hero Peter Parker an orphaned, intellectual teen loner living in Queens with his aunt (Rosemary Harris) and uncle (Cliff Robertson), and dreaming of the girl next door, Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). On a field trip to a Columbia University lab, Peter is bitten by a genetically altered spider and overnight he gains superhuman strength, agility, and perception. At first, Peter uses his powers for material gain, winning a wrestling match with a purportedly lucrative prize. But when Peter apathetically fails to stop a burglar from robbing the wrestling arena, a tragedy follows that compels him to devote his powers to fighting crime -- as the superhero Spider-Man. When he's not busy fighting crime in a spider suit, Peter moves into an apartment with his best friend, Harry (James Franco), and begins work as a photographer at the Daily Bugle. Meanwhile, his do-gooder alter ego finds a nemesis in the form of the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), a super-powered, megalomaniacal villain who happens to be the alter ego of Harry's father, weapons-manufacturing mogul Norman Osborn. Spider-Man was written by the prolific blockbuster scribe David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Panic Room).

I like the way Uncle Ben smiles a little bit when he sees Peter, like he's so terrified to die on that street corner surrounded by strangers, but then his beloved nephew shows up, so at least he can be with him one more time before he dies.
The Fumbo Muffin You know I always noticed he smiled but having it articulated that way makes this scene better. Thank you

Munazil oh yes haha, definitely Riami the best director ever to make best movie that Sony need to learn from Riami for making best Spider man movie ever and Sony should know Riami that he want Movie masterpiece when Sony being pushy or it was Avi Arad being pushy on director like that in Spider Man 3 instead nowadays with MCU just boring for me. Tobey really was like an older brother to Tom and Andrew. He encourage Andrew and stopped Tom from making a big mistake.
Raimi absolutely nailed Uncle Ben's death. The way we get to see his relationship with Peter, his talk with him about responsibility, and the way he looks genuinely scared about dying is beyond pitch perfect. No film could've captured this scene more beautifully.
Except Marc Webb
@@jamestolbert1856 haha
@@jamestolbert1856Nothing beautiful about the way TASM captured it. Fell way more flat. I remember feeling absolutely nothing when Ben died there, especially since he's an idiot for trying to wrestle a gun away from a guy he could've completely avoided all together.
@@NathanDrakeTheGreat hey it was a beautiful scene that was captured by Andrew Garfield’s astounding acting. And if you call this Uncle Ben an idiot, than Raimi’s version is as much of an idiot for trying to speak to a guy with a gun in his hald
@@jamestolbert1856Where in this clip did you see Uncle Ben doing that? Oh yeah, you can't because it's not in this film. Even the dumb retcon in SM3 still made sense, it was purely an accident. The way it played out in TASM was stupid, Ben literally had NO REASON to charge at the guy at all. He had zero intention of killing him until he tried wrestling it away... 100% his own fault in that version.
I will give you that Andrew did a good job, but it's got nothing on this.
He really felt like a real uncle, no one will ever top him
Idk I thought Martin sheen did great
@Bad Boys Boogie he was teaching him responsibility and not to shirk it, at least we get more time and reason for Ben to scold Peter in ASM 1, here it’s more dramatic cuz it’s a scene with people standing around and music swelling
I still and forever will say May has more impact on his life and the audience cuz she’s his rock no matter what, plus we spent more time with her in both franchises to care more, she’s Peter’s reminder to stay grounded
@Bad Boys Boogie you’d be wrong about no scenes of them bonding, they did it twice in the beginning before Peter found the suitcase, and they weren’t fighting all the time, I’m pretty sure you’d be upset if your nephew broke a basketball hoop to show off, no different than the fight with Flash in 2002 one, at least it’s addressed in ASM immediately,
and the skater boi thing I’ll give you that, but he never came off as cool, I think the creators tried to hard to make him seem “gothic but relatable”, the second half deals his personality better, but Bens death is emotional but not as much cuz even tho it was built up longer, the scene was rushed in ASM for some reason, but the loss was felt, after that talk with May in 2002, can you really say the loss was felt? They both have stuff with Ben being impactful in different ways but ASM delivers on the loss better cuz it’s a constant reminder throughout the movie and Peter faces consequences cuz of that reminder, Peter and Ben may have not ended on good terms but that’s the point,ASM hones in on that

If not for uncle Ben...most of us wouldn't be here miles
As a longtime Spidey fan, I hated that scene in Across the Spider-Verse. It shows that Uncle Ben's death was a necessity. That other Spider-mens would purposely ALLOW his death for the "Greater Good". That's the Complete Opposite of what Spiderman stands for. Spiderman would NEVER allow an innocent person to die regardless of how much good would come out of it. All the Spider-people hating on Miles for saving that innocent man's life on the bridge was ridiculous. That movie completely missed the point of what it means to be Spiderman.
@@LeedleLee457 THIS.

@LeedleLee457 Miguel literally holds Miles captive intending for his dad to die and basically make it completely meaningless since he can’t even do anything from a cage or even learn how to do better from it. The movie as a whole was good imo but that scene also came with a lot of plotholes

This scene is a lot more scarring to me now that I'm older due to the realistic details they added to this murder scene. The panicked people, morbidly curious and crowding around with no one able to do anything while the police try to keep them back. Much like real life murders on the street. Someone dying in the middle of the sidewalk while some look on out of curiosity, some keep driving by and some just going about their day, and the world just generally being peaceful, meanwhile someone else's world is dying right there on the ground.

Actually, 1 1/2 makes more sense. So he should get 4500
The ad specified $3000 payment for three minutes in the ring with Bonesaw because it's a PRO WRESTLING MATCH.
Pro wrestling is planned in advance; the ad specified three minutes because they wanted a match that lasted three minutes EXACTLY. Peter undercut the time, essentially throwing the pacing out of whack and potentially bombing the show's ratings. Not that knowing that makes the event organizer much more of a sympathetic figure!

Tobey Maguire can cry. It's not some smoothed-over, idealised Hollywood show of emotions we're seeing, but the kind of raw, uncontrollable, unflattering, snot-dripping cry one might expect in such a situation. Great acting, great movie.
I still prefer the Raimi movies over everything else. Tobey Maguire is a very underrated actor too.
I agree man, Tobey definitely needs more movie roles. The guy was amazing in Brothers.
Raimi movies are great character driven films.
I honestly prefer characters with depth like (Tobey's Parker, Joaquin's Joker, Fassbender's Magneto) than one-dimensional characters like (Evans' Steve Rogers, Bale's Wayne, Ledger's Joker)
@Keimar Drain underrated as to cinema in general, we don't see him a lot in other movies
@Keimar Drain Thats not the question we’re asking. An actor can be phenomenal in a role and be remembered for decades because of it. Toby is one of those actors. We’re just wondering why we don’t see him in new movies anymore. He’s great.

I wouldn't say Tobey was the best Spider-man but he did have the best costume and I agree with everything else you said.
Blair Bart: But what qualities made Mary Jane better then Gwen? Mary Jane in the Raimi films was a constant drama queen and jerk when came to love relationships while screaming obnoxiously every two seconds during drastic situations. Gwen in the Webb films was less obnoxious during those situations, had a better personality, and even saved Spider-man from Electro in the second Amazing film thanks to her scientific wits, which made her ultimate death in the end mean something at least. Gwen in the Webb Films had emotional control in the face of fear and made herself a hero in the end while Mary Jane was just the stereotypical damsel in distress.
Blair Bart If he was the best Spider-Man, then why didn't Tobey do enough wisecracking humor that's iconic to the role of Spider-man while Andrew and Tom pulled off those humorous qualities better? I still enjoy Tobey but he's definitely overrated as Spider-man and made a better Peter Parker. Tobey was a little too serious and uptight during the role of Spider-man.
I won’t lie, I tear up when watching this scene. Everything about it is so sad. The instant regret of Peter’s decision, Uncle Ben looking at his nephew for the last time, and Peter who is filled with so much emotion that he starts to cry. It’s so sad. I mean look at the acting, I feel genuine pain for both Peter and Ben in this scene. It’s extremely well made and the music just saddens the scene more, and slowly transitions the scene to Peter’s feeling of Revenge. Bravo.
When Uncle Ben says "Peter" one last time it tears me up because when he says it you can hear in his voice how crushed he feels in his last moments.😞
It was the regret of what his last words to him had been he didn't know it was the guy he let go until he chased him down.
When you say the instant regret of Peter's decision. He didn't know at that point that the robber who shot his uncle was the same person who robbed the wrestling venue.

I thought it was really cool how Across the Spiderverse showed that a canon event is not just when a Spider-Man's uncle dies, but when a Spider-Man experiences the death of somebody close to them that proves to them that with great power comes great responsibility, thus making them a true superhero.
But it also says that it’s a necessity for spider man and Miguel holds Miles captive so his dad dies but it basically is meaningless since he can’t save any lives as another choice

Also with Peter being pretty much a loner in movies and comics. One of his last remaining best friends dies.

Realistically, you’d expect the money guy to offer Peter a job as his new pro wrestler since he beat Bonesaw so easily.
Nah it’s never about winning in professional wrestling, it’s creating a compelling narrative and making the fight look entertaining. Climbing on the cage and taking down the main event that quick is entertaining in a one off maybe but if he did that as a wrestler people would feel cheated

Yeah that why I don t understand mcu cinematic universe why they don t have a version of uncle ben he the reason why Peter parker become a hero.
I think the closest "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility" in the MCU, is what he said to Stark in Civil War when they first met. It's "If you can do the things that i can, But you don't. And when the bad things happpened, They happened because of you"

You mispelled Toby.
That line, “I missed the part where that’s my problem.” I feel like us humans are inherently selfish, we think that somebody else’s problem isn’t ours. But at the end of the day it is. We’re all in this together. And if we have power to influence the outcome of people’s lives, we should use it responsibly or for good. Every store manager, politician, athlete coach, boss, business owner, king, ruler, religious leader needs to get that message - With great power comes great responsibility.
They should use this explanation to explain why wearing a mask is important.

Uncle Ben's: look at little spider-man jr...Gonna cry
He's crying because there's dirt in his eye.
I'm sorry Andrew and Tom might have got the joking side of Peters personality in the costume but they were never able to capture the core elements of the character from the comics like Tobey did.
Kieran Holmes Good point. I just wish we could a Spider-man that is able to blend both the darker core elements of responsibility and the light hearted humor of Spider-man very well. A Marvel Netfilx TV series that similar to the tone of Smallville would do more justice in my opinion. He would fit in the story just fine since he is also street-leveler like Daredevil and the rest of the Defenders.
I believe if Tom Holland had a chance to do Uncle Ben's death, he would have done a great job close to Maguires performance and established his growth into Spider-Man. However, as we know his MCU version of Spider Man has already shown that he is using his powers for good and use it to the responsibilities it upholds after losing his uncle. Being introduced in Civil War in the aftermath of that stage, they show that he is still a kid whose heart is in the right place and wants to help but is struggling to combat against the evils far more advanced and experienced than him (Vulture and Thanos he faced so far). Being the youngest out of all the Avengers, he is learning and that rubble scene in Homecoming was a milestone and presents his struggle. For us to truly see Hollands performance in this kind of scenario, i believe Avengers 4 we will see Iron Mans death and Peters reaction will show how much Tonys death would impact him and eventually transform him into the Spider Man once and for all. "Far from Home" will be the first inclusion of that transformation i reckon as he will be taking on more members of the Sinister Six by himself
Rey Mustayne Ooh, is that a fanboy i see??
Not only just tobey. Uncle Ben and Aunt May in this one, capture the heartstrings part of them too. Aunt May in the amazing was naggingly annoying and uncle ben was not as gentle as this one. Both of them weren't even inspiring. As for MCU's Aunt May? Yea.. She's hot, but that's about it. She's too hysterical! I don't see any inspiring lines with them at all.
Andrew totally captured the emotion with Gwen’s death
I'm very devastated to hear that our beloved legendary hero Stan Lee has passed away this morning at 95, it hurts so much that he was one of the co-creators & publisher for the comics of Spider-Man, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther, & even the X-Men which these are well known for decades, also we all grew up watching his cameo appearances of Marvel films including the MCU, but not only that but he gave us life, joy, & happiness, thanks Stan for giving us these spectacular heroes who defined what it means to be a hero also spreading your wonderful creativity into the world & rest in peace, we'll always remember you through our hearts plus you meant the whole universe alot to us, Excelsior! It was a cannon event.
Tobey Maguire is the Spider-Man I grew up watching. All of the films in the trilogy especially Spider-Man 2 captured the essence of a hero and the pain and suffering a hero must go through to become a true hero. This trilogy did that with effective music, effective storytelling, and lovable and memorable characters.
@Bobo Boy Plus the drama the villains experienced can be relatable as well. The only thing that lacked substance was probably only Mary Jane, she was mostly used as a damsel

Uncle Ben's death is very important to the story of Spider-Man.
And it offends me that MCU still have not beaten this moment.
I really hope that they will not forget about him in the third film.
They can’t just forget about this moment. You cannot just forget one of the turning points in the life of this person and a superhero.
I hope Feige and Marvel Studios understand this.
