      Make the most of where you are while you’re there. Make a plan for when you want to move but embrace the now for what it is. 👍 In hindsight I had some awesome memories before I moved but am loving life now too.

I been following for less than a year now and your probably starting to recognize my name since I keep dropping comments and likes haha. So just to be completely honest Dan, these old videos are great man. I’m glad you documented it all moving out there and even updates after the fact. Having the wifey(I don’t want to spell her name like the car in case that’s wrong hahaha) jump in for a little bit was cool, just hearing both opinions was awesome, not many would do that. It’s great and a blessing that you guys get to do it together and are enjoying it!! +1 on the complications of one person holding down a job while the other pursues a dream. About 3 years ago we did that same setup. I kept my job while my wife pursued starting her own business. I think what kept me from getting frustrated -- and so able to also keep her guilt at bay -- is that I knew she was putting in a ton of hours to make it work. The first two years weren't very successful, but this year she's gotten some breaks (despite Covid) and will have enough income to sustain us both if I end up doing something similar in a year or two.

    I think this video was suggested to me because I live in Utah. I don't normally watch videos like this, but this was interesting. haha It's always cool seeing how people from out of state view Utah. I looked at your channel and noticed you're very consistent with uploads, and that's good for growing your channel. If you keep doing that and focus on making unique, engaging, and entertaining videos, I see no reason why you won't meet your goal. My advice though if you want to turn this into a living, push boundaries. Make crazy videos and don't be afraid to step outside of your box. If you want subscribers, let alone subscribers that will pay you, you need to make content that makes people look forward to your uploads. I'd say don't only do outdoor stuff and venture into all sorts of avenues. Oh and initially I don't think your goal should be money. Your goal should simply be to make great videos. All of the channels I love had to grind for like five years before things snowballed and took off, but they eventually did and now a lot of them have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. One thing they all have in common though is that they kept their eye on the prize and did it because they loved the content they made, and their goal wasn't money.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 роки тому +1

      The Dark Ruler Thanks a lot for the kind words and input. I agree. I’m definitely in it for the love. Especially when it comes to the outdoors side of things. I like to step out of my comfort zone from time to time, but I also want my content to have a consistent theme and not just shock value (which tends to be view oriented). Personal progression is my theme. My number one goal isn’t to make money. It’s to do what I love, the best I can, without needing to work other jobs that take away time from doing that. That’s just the reality of needing to make income from this. If success comes, great. But if not, my passion won’t change. Thanks for watching something out of your usual feed and thanks for the advice! 🙏 Very appreciated.

    I just came back apon this video and still feel more encouraged to pursue my dream of moving west from Nashville i had a question about snowbird. is there employee housing and if not what is the best area with affordable housing in slc closest to the mountain. love the vids.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching and glad it's encouraging you dude! There is employee housing at the bird but it's very limited. Best thing you can do is search online on sites like zillow. Unfortunately, the closer to the mountains, the more expensive it gets, so you gotta decide how far is too far? Personally I'd want to be no more than 40 minutes away.

      @Jaden Fann look around Cottonwood Heights towards the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Duplex Alley is affordable and walk to bus/hitch hiking locations.

    Subbed. Where’s all the merch??? That will be a game changer for you if you can get some stickers and shirts for sale! I would def support ya. I’m from south central PA, York to be exact. Possibly crossed paths at ski roundtop dude?? That’s my home mountain. Anyways good luck dude I will definitely be following.

      Awesome!! Thanks bro! We probably crossed paths at Roundtop, Liberty or Whitetail. Haha. Did you know they're on the Epic pass now? Crazy. Merch will hopefully be dropping after the New Year! Definitely stickers!! Maybe more. Thanks man!!! 🙏

    Hi, thank you for an informative video. I’m a teacher here in MD and am considering moving to UT. May I ask what school district did your wife teach at here in MD? Where does she teach in UT now? I’ve been doing some research on the best places to teach/live in UT. It would be nice if you and your wife can make a video on that subject. Thank you!

      Dan August Erfe Hey! No problem. She was in Baltimore City and now she’s in Granite district and loves it. One thing that we weren’t anticipating is that taxes are way less here. There’s basically no city tax so consider that when looking at income.

      How many years of teaching experience does Granite school district give credit for new hires’ salary placement? I taught in Baltimore city for 6 years.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 роки тому +1

      Dan August Erfe Straight from Sellika: “I got credit for all my years, I also worked in Baltimore for 6 years and Granite gave me credit for 6 as long as BCPSS verifies them. I started in granite on step 7 because it was my 7th year teaching. I went straight from Baltimore to Granite with no gap so I’m not sure if having a gap in your teaching would affect things, always verify with HR to confirm your personal situation, but this was my experience, I got to keep all my years experience.” 👍

    What is the diversity like? We are looking at moving there.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 роки тому

      It could be more diverse, honestly. 😕 It's mostly a lot of white people, some Hispanics and some Asians, and very few African Americans. That's the one thing I do kinda miss from living in Maryland. It's about 85-90% white families, due to the Mormans having their roots here, I'd say.

    Sorry but I think you’re doing it wrong. You should have a job or enough savings to pay your share until the channel takes off. Not fair to put that strain on your relationship in hopes of your dream taking off when there’s no evidence that it will. And then to say putting out 2 videos a week is a struggle is a shame. Sorry to be harsh I’m all for people succeeding on UA-cam but you need to bust your ass more honestly. I hope you can find this motivational not offensive.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  4 роки тому

      I appreciate the feedback man. We did save up a ton before moving out here but maybe we still had unrealistic expectations. And as far as 2 vids a week, I put way more effort into each video than your average vlog, so that’s just the way it is for me. Quality over quantity. But I see the other side of it too.

    I just have to say. One approach to gaining subscribers might be not talking in several videos about how you quit your job to be a youtuber, how its put strain on your life at home, and how you need to monetize this. It's....weird.
