I was there in July. I quit my job at the end of June and I took a solo trip on my new Low Rider. Ended up being a 7,704 mile loop from Seattle and back. I never take as many pictures as I want so this was very cool to see your video and remember it again. Thanks for your channel.

As a Canadian, I’ve spent the equivalent of months in the American park system. Without exception, every experience has been amazing. Staff, maintenance and locations all world class. Thanks for taking us on your tour. Rubber side down my friend.

Hi Tim, With ever increasing numbers of visitors to our National Parks it's refreshing and exhilarating to find one like TRNP. That campsite was just the perfect place to end the day watching the setting sun play off the quiet hills. People can be great but there's nothing like that lonesome feeling to reflect what you're experiencing. I loved it too! Thanks Tim.

Great video Tim!! I was really excited to watch this one as I live in North Dakota, and couldn't wait to hear your take on Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Glad you fell in love with the place. Our state is very proud of our connection with Teddy Roosevelt. BULLY!!! Hope you get a chance to visit ND again and maybe even see more of our great state. Thanks for all your videos - have enjoyed them all.

I love your tours of the parks and places you visit. Your comments, observations, bits of history and honest excitement bring it alive. Your sentiment is addicting. And the way you share bits of your camping regimen and everyday life (good and bad) make it so much more relatable and interesting to those of us living vicariously through your adventures. Thanks!

Great video! Glad to see you got on some back roads and enjoyed the rugged beauty that Western North Dakota has to offer. I recently subscribed as I am starting on my adventure bike build and I have been enjoying your videos.
I actually came across this video because I just decided to go backpacking in the north unit of TRNP in a couple days and was looking for videos on that, and came across your channel again and immediately went to subscribe and realized I had already been watching your stuff.
Glad you enjoyed my home state and if you ever make it back check out lake Sakakawea. That muddy river that you were saying didn't look too appealing actually makes its way to a huge reservoir with 1,300 miles of shoreline so there's plenty of big lake views surrounded by bluffs and good fishing.

  • @92merc
    @92merc 4 роки тому +1

Thanks for visiting my home state. You did a good job covering that area and what the scenery offers. I grew up just north of the North unit in Williston. I can't tell you how many times I've camped out in the North Unit. I love it every time. It's just a great place to relax and have some peace and quiet. Especially if you like hiking. I recognized pretty much every spot you were in the North unit. At the end, you were looking at Battleship Butte.
For those thinking of going to the Teddy Roosevelt park, the South Unit is just off I-94. Easy to get to. It is close to a small town of Medora. It is a bit of a touristy area. But from the park, it's just a short drive to Medora should you need goods. But Medora has more historical things to look at. And it's where we will be building the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library in the coming years.
North Unit is more secluded. And since it's farther off the Interstate, generally less people. And it's 20 miles to Watford city if you should need goods. So less people and secluded if that's what you're looking for.
Thanks for stopping by our state! Fellow BMW rider BTW. Except R1200RT. You've made me curious about the GS life...

    Great as usual Tim.
I often wonder where I can ride here in North Dakota and having been to the Medora area many times I find myself taking it for granted and I shouldnt.
As kids we'd swim in the Little Missouri and thought nothing of it. The campground you stayed at is called CCC and is the trailhead of the 145 mile Maah Daah Hey trail. It serves hikers, horses and pedal bikers. I've ridden a couple times and am always amazed a trail could have been made passable thru that terrain.
Thanks for visiting our state and reflecting so positively on what you experienced.
Heat can definitely be a factor when in this area, inversely it can also get -35 F too.
Well done my friend, happy travels.

Another really great ride video. Had the centre stand on my R75/5 rust out in the '70s. The side stand had broken a few weeks before and it was interesting for a couple of weeks while waiting for parts. Morning coffee and taking time while breaking camp are certainly the best.

I queued this video to watch before our road trip but didn't get around to it. Your morning day 2 comments about the park resonate; I haven't been as many places but our trip was bookended with the badlands - first, SD. Then, ND, and yeah, it was more amazing than I expected.

Hi Tim, another great video. We stopped at Theodor Roosevelt National a few years ago almost by accident. We really enjoyed it Prairie Dogs and Wild Horses. The horses walked along the road next to our car. Maybe they thought we would feed them. But as to the wildest National Park my vote would go to Isle Royal. Of course I know it is only accessible by boat or airplane. Some years ago I spent a week with a buddy and we hardly touched the freeze dried meals we ate fresh fish every day. We also heard Wolves at night, and saw Moose grazing in the lake in the morning.

Tim, I really appreciate your time in making these vids. Three years ago I bought my dream bike an R1100RT, finally at 36 years old. I broke my foot and then got a dui with a cast on 2 months later, so I haven't gotten to ride it since. If you ever make it through KS you should let me know. I watched most of your vids today, and it's really reassuring that I will hopefully still be able to do this come oct when I can ride my bike again, this time without drugs or alcohol possibily getting me hurt or worse.

Hey Tim, I've been a horrible subscriber lately, got way behind, now I'm binge watching all my favorite channels playing catch up, LOL. Anyway, if you ever wonder why I'm a little backwards and don't really like crowds, what you're seeing there is essentially where I grew up. A bit south and over the line on the MT side, but same terrain, scenery, remoteness, red scoria roads, the whole deal, 40 miles from the nearest town, closest neighbors were 15 miles away. Person gets used to having some elbow room and definitely can't beat the sky at night. ;)

Another home run Tim, ALWAYS enjoy your videos. Did you look for, find, or see Teddy Roosevelt's initials that he carved in his cabin that was at the visitors center? I was fortunate enough to visit that park myself a few years ago, and yes it is amazing for sure, and to be able to touch the carving of his initials was kind of humbling in a way knowing that he himself touched the same spot and all he did for this and all the parks is just awesome. OBTY, if I'm correct, what we have in North America are Bison, commonly referred to as Buffalo, but more correctly if using the name Buffalo would be American Buffalo. True Buffalo are in reference to the African Buffalo... I'm sure that if I'm wrong there is a Zoologist somewhere that will correct me... From what I've learned, its a history thing of when the west was settled way back when and the settlers saw them and thought they kind of looked like Buffalo, so they called them that and the name stuck. And that concludes today history lesson, ha ha ha!!! Have fun and ride safe!

For anyone traveling to the area there is a gem of a road just west of Watford city and South of Johnsons corner called The Bears Den. Gravel oil field road that drops into what is perhaps the best section of the Little Missouri and the North Dakota badlands. It is perhaps the most dramatic opening up of a Vista view around.

Don't know if it is the open sky or the thought of the 93 degrees on this 3rd day of January, but the place really looks appealing. I've been in that neighborhood many times, but never made it into the park. Summer of 19 on my way to Tuktolaktuk, perhaps. Safe travels Tim and good luck with the new center stand... Didn't quite understand what happened there until you identified the part.

Awesome video Tim. Question: I noticed that you plugged your tire but you have spoked rims. do you have some type of rim seal system that allows you not use a tube? It’s been a concern of mine when traveling that I have tubes in my tires because of spoked rims. Thanks in advance hopefully your having the time of your life on the road. I know I extended a invitation once before. But if you find your self in northern New Jersey more than welcome to spend the night. Ride safe !

Devin, I have cross spoke wheels so they are tubeless tires even though there are spokes. I don't know of any option for motorcycles that will convert a tube tire to tubeless. Do you carry tire irons and patches? Thanks! I am having a blast! I appreciate the offer my friend.

    • @devinonello9362

FTA Adventures : I do carry tire irons and patches but it’s unfortunately not a quick fix. No center stand and drum brakes on the back. Luckily flats don’t happen often but when they do it ruins the afternoon. Going to look for rim sealing systems aftermarket options etc. Thanks for the information.

@@FTAAdventures Wow, Tim ! 95,000 miles ! Just shows the durability of that great engine design ! I just now mentioned as I responded to your comment from one of your other videos, that I changed my mind about the BMW g310gs. Today I started financing on a 2019 f750gs. I just feel that the slightly larger bike will be more suited to the longer tours that I am looking forward to starting to do. I want a bike that is going to last a long time and have a dependable motor. If you have any experience or thoughts on the middleweight GS twins, I would sure love to hear it. Maybe one day in the future I will graduate to the 1250 GS, but for now this bike will be amazing I'm sure. Take care. Rob

It is a great idea, I have used them. I ended up needing a lot of them to get my rear tire inflated though, but they are great in a pinch and certainly beat waiting on a tow truck.

    Hey Tim,
    Amazing video, worth the wait!
Great job capturing the essence of what make the park special. Beautiful scenery, love the wildlife, we will have to check it out.
Sucks about the flat tire, especially in those temps.
Question, when you patch a tire, do you replace it shortly after or keep riding? I know the recommendation is to replace it immediately, but... you know... tires are NOT cheap.
Keep up the great work buddy.
    Stay safe.

    • @FTAAdventures
      @FTAAdventures  4 роки тому +1

Thanks! I usually replace shortly after but it depends on where the nail was and how close the tire is to being replaced anyways. I have tire insurance so it usually gets replaced but when the insurance runs out I will likely push it a little further.

On Roosevelt, I listened to David McCullough's book on him, "Mornings on Horseback" which covers his parents up to the point before he becomes president. I didn't know he lost his wife after childbirth and his mother unexpectedly a few hours later. One of the reasons he spent a lot of time out west after all that.

Thanks Jeffrey. They had talked about those monumental deaths in the documentary at the welcome center and how he fled to that area to recover. That must have been difficult but I can see why spending time somewhere like that would help.
