Said summer football for 30-40 years. Not just for comfort of watching but the quality . It creates different type of player, more technique , can't run around in summer heat week in week out ( even in Scotland), so game slows down a touch & becomes more slow , slow, quick, quick slow . Similar to any World cup or European championship you have watched. As a kid I remember playing in summer league & the difference is massive,, training, coaching is on a higher level . We need to change, 99% of our teams still play in the dark ages of big guys up front with balls in the air with most of the game bypassing all the midfield. Time to change was 40 years ago !!
Raith Rovers most famous for leading Bayern Munich (0-1) at half-time in the Olympic stadium (1995) Former prime minister,Gordon Brown being one of their biggest shareholders! 👍Great work Sam!
Great video! Really like seeing people like yourself covering the enitirty of scottish football for people to see! Disappointed we conceded that goal but having a goals adavantage at home dhould hopefully make a big difference.
Scottish pyramid needs a rehaul. Ross County deserved to be relegated this season, Raith deserved to go up. Simple as that. Top two teams always deserve automatic promotion in football, I feel. You slog your guts out for 10 months, you finish 1 point below the top team, then you have to play a badly performing team who sneak a win against you on penalties in a playoff. That's not a fair process. Scottish football needs to be: Tier 1: 14 clubs (6/8 split at end of season, bottom two get automatic relegation) Tier 2: 20 clubs (top two get promotion, bottom three get relegated) Tier 3: 20 clubs (top two get auto promotion, 3rd and 4th in a playoff, bottom four playoff, only one team gets relegated) Tiers 4-10: regional variations (winner of tier 4 gets promotion) Tier 3 needs to become 100% professional with 100% pro referees. I'm for playoffs in English leagues as it's so tight down there and the stakes are higher, money is higher, viewership is higher, but in most countries, playoffs aren't justified, not for promotion, for relegation you can make the case, but in the case of Scotland, teams that go almost undefeated and finish second deserve to get automatic promotion otherwise, what is the point? We need a Premiership where the full-pro clubs, the legacy clubs like Dundee United are permanently in it, unless they have a truly bad season, of course and deserve relegation. There needs to be a league for the best B teams, that would be a league of 10, ie. Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, etc. B teams in regional leagues in a small country like Scotland is daft. Let those Premiership B teams battle it out for 36 matches each. That will nurture talents far more, something we will need now when competing in the Senior and U20/21 Euros and World Cups. UEFA should expand the U21 Euros to 24 teams as well, I feel, mirror the senior competition. Peace!
Doesn't have to be as drastic as all that, pal. I quite like the play-offs for promotion but no way should a team that finished second last get not only an extra chance to stay up, but another set of gate receipts and two more lots of money for being shown live on TV as well. The system as it stands right now is needlessly rewarding sides who've had a crap season.
It just gets a very slightly warmer winter. Still when I went to Belfast back in April we where in the Taxi on the way to The Premier Inn & hailstones came on so it's not just Scotland lol.
I always wondered what Uan Crocker looked like,so used to hearing him commentate on Scottish Premier League games. Well done Sam for getting him interviewed. Have you ever got Bill Leslie? I hope Raith Rovers go up so the second leg is nicely poised.
My best friend is a Raith rovers fan would love to see them get promoted for him!!!!! Scottish football has the roots of old school football seeing the train at the corner and houses and the old style football kick in the field this is pure good football wish both teams the best The man that does commentating for the football should be FIFA's next commentator love his voice and love for the football something commentators lack these days His the best commentator for scottish football
To be fair, Ron, Crocker's one of the better operators in commercial football media. I get the impression he genuinely enjoys his job, his enthusiasm and observations are more natural than the usual forced malarkey you get when fools be rockin da mic

Playoff final should 100% be a one off game. Massively favours the premiership team being 2 legs. And kind of ruins the spectacle off it. Neutral venue, 50/50 split. Would be a far better product
It shouldn’t. There should be no playoff to go up. It should be a 14 team top division and bottom 2 get relegated. Top 2 from 16 team championship get automatic promotion. Could maybe look at playoff further down the leagues

Wrong. In fact quite the opposite - we have a FIFA approved Champions League gold-star rating artificial pitch far superior to Livi's or Kilmarnock's, and far better than any dreadful trench warfare mud pits that call themselves a "grass pitch" that we have to play on at other stadiums. 1st leg semi final playoff at Firhill, Partick could barely string two passes together on their cow patch surface....then they come to Starks Park and look like prime Barcelona. Every team, every time....they magically start playing better football at Starks Park. There's a reason for that. Grass and mud is history, mate. Synthetic turf is the future. You havent the faintest idea what you are talking about.
Indeed. I have wanted to see Partick back in the Premier for a long, long time, they would add a great dynamic element to the league. Alan Rough would be delighted!
