- The Lab Band is thrilled to bring you our 14th Episode - The Police. In the 6 years between 1978 and 1983 The Police released 5 albums of Punk, Jazz and Reggae inspired Rock that garnered them 6 Grammys and sold over 75 million albums worldwide. With the energy of Stewart Copeland behind the kit, the jazz sensibilities of Andy Summers on the guitar and the incredible performer and songwriter Sting, the band crafted a legacy that has them among the greatest bands of all time and earned them a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We are very excited to welcome a brand new guest artist on these 5 songs, Jake Gammon. Jake grew up in Lexington and considers Stewart Copeland as one of his influences. In addition we brought back our good friend Jonathan McKeown to sit in on guitar. We hope you'll really enjoy our tribute to The Police! Thanks for listening - LLB
I...I...I can't comprehend this isn't The Police, live. I mean, fookin' wow! This should not be possible.
haha...thanks so much for checking this out!
Thank _you_ so much for doing such good work.
Awesome job Dale! I've tried to play this song so many times, but it never sounds right. That riff is hard to do right. You guys nailed it!

astoker06 sincere thanks for being willing to check out the LLB vids and my tutorials - greatly appreciate the kind post - your KY friend, dale.
Wonderful! My fav song by The Police, and now my fav to hear on UA-cam. And actually, I like to here LLB do it better than The Police. LLB’s drummer is just as good as Stewart Copeland. And Sting is a little too arrogant for me anyway. Thx LLB! P.S. all the musicians and Mike (singer) do a great job on this tune. Not just the drummer. Three thumbs up!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
This drummer is one of the best I've ever heard. He has so much power and can still be so smooth. Good work by all. Thanks a lot.
+kennethrobinson11231 thanks for the kind post...we think so too, he's a Nashville player and dear friend! Thanks for giving this a listen.
My thoughts exactly!
I'm a drummer too, and I've just had a snare-gasm! Awesome drummer, and awesome band.
Hi Dale and band, once again beautiful perfection. My request from over the years is still there, and check you tube land, songsterr, anywhere, no one has tried it, tabbed it anywhere that I can see. I guess a song not worthy? I feel you guys could nail "Wishes" by Jon Butcher. The intro is one of the nicest, clean strat pieces I have ever heard and gets no respect. Your thoughts sir? your friend and admirer for years. Dan/Seattle.
srnad88 hello Dan...hope all is great out west sir and thanks so much for the very kind words and checking this out! Just listened to the tune and i agree some very nice clean guitar work - very Hendrix inspired to my ears. Reminds me a bit of Lights guitar work by NS. I think it's a great song, but my honest opinion is for whatever reason this is an artist that didn't cross the path of the masses. I consider myself a pretty avid listener of guitar music for a few decades now and somehow, until you kindly brought this to my attention, he has never hit my radar. Honestly the tune doesn't sound fundamentally too difficult or filled with 'new' ideas, but to capture it exactly with all the nuances of pulls and hammers he uses would take time. My guess is that's one reason you don't find it available in lesson form may be that it's a few hours work for an advanced guitarist on a song they probably they would never cover because it's largely unknown. I hope this post doesn't seem disrespectful or unkind in any way buy just my honest opinion - with which a dollar will in some places buy me a coke:) great tune and player and i appreciate you sharing it with me - your thoughts?
I'm sure you are right as to why it never got the notoriety it possibly should have. Being originally 51 years from New England, I just thought that song had national air play but I was apparently wrong. That whole album IMO was steeped in guitar greatness; I wore it out. But I understand everyone wants super familiar tunes. Thanks for giving it a listen at least! Guess I'll have to settle for my not so good version! :o) YFA Thank you for so many years of instruction. Dan
True drumming masterclass. Traditional grip gives real authenticity
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
I think I've said this before: perfect, simply outstanding. You are awsome musicians. Here's to the LLB
Gary Slash hey Gary, when you make it to KY lets connect, eat and talk music - thanks again for checking this out!

My favourite Police track and always has been, given a tremendous cover treatment here by a fabulously talented bunch of committed musicians, thanks for posting & greetings from UK.
+harvey halloway thank you for giving your time to listen and share the kind words!
best dale.
Yes, the drummer is excellent. Great cover! This band is amazing.
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
What a great cover! But that drummer!?!?! WOW!!!! He's a master of syncopation! Thanks, Dale and LLB!
he is something special or sure! He just looks like all business doesn't he!
This is the first cover of MIAB where the second guitarist plays the harmony part. It is subtle but makes the song. Fantastic!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Mike was perfect on vocal...he's singing like Sting.....
great thanks for checking this out....sincerely appreciated!
LLB, this cover is a lot of fun and entertainment for me. And once again, NAILED!! I’m a drummer and a singer, but I’ve lost some of my vocal range. Smoking and age.
:( But I can still sing along with most of it. I go between the lead and harmony parts as I’m cruising around in my truck. Pioneer stereo and two 10” sub-woofers. Hope I don’t go deaf. Anyway, once again, 3 thumbs up!!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
Another unbelievable performance! You guys are the best! Always look forward to what's next!
Rob R hello Rob....really appreciate you checking this out sir...a few more Police tunes coming!

Great vocals. Mike you never disappoint and I enjoy seeing not only sing at such a high level but the ability to play so many instruments! I caught your Zoom call from a few months ago. Didn’t hear what you did for a living. Maybe it’s this! Makes sense to me. Love LLB!! Thanks!

What can I say? Another superb demonstration of awesome musicianship. I trust that everyone who hears the music of the LLB appreciates it as much as I do. I hold out remote hope that someday I may be able to participate in some small way. Best to everyone. Bob.
Robert W Parady Hello Bob! your ongoing willingness to check out these videos is very appreciated and Mike and I look forward to the day you make it to Lexington!

When they play a song it’s usually always better than the original. They sure know how to make improvements. 👍🏼

Great job. I know this was mixed later but Did you guys record this all live or track by track?
we record all live - we take 3 passes at each song to give us the audio that will be mixed and all the video shots we like. Thanks for checking this out!
If you close your eyes, it seems like Sting singing - really! Mike was great singing The Police tunes!

drums from his heart. Great job LLB!
Thanks so much for checking this out..greatly appreciated!
That's a finger stretcher. I used to play that song every time I wanted to torture my tendons a while. Great job as always guys!!
***** i agree - i don't have big hands and it's a fatiguing song. Andy Summers doesn't appear to be a 'big' guy either and obviously he kills it and Every Breath You Take is the same thing. I have heard him brag about his strong fingers - i believe him!
thanks for watching,
dale
tonedr Yes sir, Every Breath You Take is a challenge as well. I have pretty long fingers and its still hard. Both of those songs are great exercise for your fingers and hands.
Another BIG thumbs up!

what Rush songs should we cover - thanks again for checking out the vids!
tonedr well if I were to recommend a few, I would say Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Closer to the Heart, and Subdivisions. Any of those would be great to hear from you guys.

Rush.. in the mood
ua-cam.com/video/g5njyO9h9Ys/v-deo.html
Superb. The Nicks stuff was OK but just didn't have that oomph that most of your videos do. This one really nails it. I didn't see the background vocalist -- or maybe I wasn't watching closely enough.
oldwest517 thanks for the kind post and giving this your time - BGV were done post on this by the man Mike himself. Thanks again, dale.
