- Friend of mine (Jeff) told me about an Auburn for sale in Toledo OH. Got to check this out. Can't agree on a price so left it set and bought a Ford T. Watch us drag this one out and try to get running. Was a bit of a challenge, but I wouldn't let it get the best of me.
You are watching me start this for the first time. In real time took about 15 minutes before I did the tear down. Knew it was low on compression on one cyl, tried to get it running to heat up the block so the valves would self unstick. Car had only been setting for 10 years or so (should not have been stuck)
you shouldn't pull a Ford T when the motor is not turning. (no oil circulating in trans will burn up the bands and or the rear clutches. Been There Done that)
You can pull start a T if motor is free and turning. "I'M JUST SAYING" (For those who comment and don't have a channel)
This channel is for entertainment, I do things the way I want to.
Car has been sold January 2022
Wow!!! Love the pipe trick !! Good job old cuz.
If you want something done easy. Ask a lazy man. That’s me.
You know it’s a ford T when 3 cylinders aren’t working but it starts anyway
Amen brother.
Great looking car. Always like the trouble shooting part. Merry Christmas to you all.
Thanks Jim good health to you and your family in the coming new year!
My grandfather who just passed a week ago had two Model Ts in his 3 car garage, a 26 and a 27. He restored the 26, and he built the 27 from scratch. Both were pickups, and could do decent speeds. I'll miss him.
Sorry for your loss. I hope the cars are passed down to you or someone who will appreciate them. Thx for watching.
Congratulations! You've bought a really nice car.
Thank you
New valve springs? $5.00 well spent! That seems unbelievably cheap! What a beautiful car. I love it.
Thanks for watching. The car has been sold.
@@KlepsGarage Looked really nice! Someone else got a great buggy!
I love ford model ts you made a wonderful decision getting the t.
Thank you
Nice car
Oh man that is a beautiful car. Thanks for the video and I'll be back for more.
Thanks for watching. New vid out. 9-1-22. On a fire truck.
For lapping valves you would be using a fine abrasive valve grinding compound not graphite which is actually a dry lubricant.
Man alive NICE CARS ALL worth BIG money!!!!
You never know what you’re gonna find in someone’s garage/barn
That's a Beautiful T, I wish it were mine...
Make offer
I'd like to find a Model T myself. Awesome 👌
There are still plenty around.
Looks like has been restored previously! No barn find is that clean and new looking!!😕
Still found it hidden away in a shed in non running condition.
Again I was after the Hudson.
I have a "barn Find" like that at my house 🤪
Using 1/2 inch pipes in the spark plug holes to lift the head is brilliant! :)
Makes the job nice and easy 👍
Sweet machine. That would look great next to my 31 model A coup !
Could be bought email me at Klepsgarage@gmail.com.
@@KlepsGarage nice thought but not in the market right now .
Ok thx. And thank you for watching Kleps garage.
Pretty tidy looking T
Thank you
Cars are wonderful these days, with their easy starting, power and fuel efficiency, and ability to go well beyond 100,000 miles, but still remember the good ol' days when, if you got gas, compression and decently timed spark, it would run.
You also can fix without a computer telling you what’s wrong
That is a pristine Model T - perfect paint and the spokes are beautiful, not dried out husks -did they keep it in a vacuum bag for 90 years ? One of the best nickel cars and it's running fine -
Thx. Paint wasn’t that good. Camera makes thing better than they appear. Someone must have replaced the spokes.
12:06 - Graphite.. a lubricant.. to lap valves? Never heard of that one, I've always used Valve Lapping Compound, which is an abrasive.
Yes sometimes my mouth doesn’t say what I’m thinking I used Permarex valve lapping compound no graphite. And I can’t go in and change the video
Sounds good now!
It’s amazing when all the parts work in the right order. Thx.
@@KlepsGarage I know. I feel like Smokey joe hates me. He caught on fire 4 years ago
Hey Bruce, always like your videos. I've always been interested in T's. I have an A. I wonder if someday you could do a video on the T ignition. Some are stock others are converted. Not sure how all that works. I ask you because your videos are quick and to the point. Some guys get so over the top I forget what they're talking about.
Thx Brian I’ll put that on my list of vids to do
You wanta do my valves? Looks like you have the procedure down pat. Do I need to install the crankshaft first? Still have good coils in that Ford?
I like that Hudson but it needs to be a dark color. The Auburn was the wrong year. The later ones were more attractive. Model T's are easy if you know how to think Model T engineering. They are very reliable but don't expect much of it so far as comfort or sophistication. They all have a sweet spot to start them and not much room for error. Great video.
Thanks for watching. You are correct and that’s why I left the Auburn and Hudson sit. Figured T was easier to resurrect. Check out my newest vid on a 1932 Nash. Then you will see why I was chasing that Auburn. Think I’ll keep the Nash.
This one's not gonna get hacked up into a dragster or a low rider, huh?
It looks like one of those ones where you leave it alone.
I sure hope so. It's cool as is.
Sold it to a T guy. He loves it and drives it as a T
Sweet T
Thx for watching
Great video and a sweet little roadster. I like your technique for pulling off the head. Did you replace the head gasket or reuse the old one? I just finished replacing the rods, and reinstalling the pistons in my ‘26 Model T. I started her back up yesterday, and it was so exciting to see her roar back to life. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks for watching. Used old copper gasket. As none are available now to buy new.
21:00 beautiful car
Thx for watching. 😎🍺
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching the channel. Make sure you check out videos 68, 69 and 70 will air. Friday night.
A restored Model T is a barn find? Cmon
Didn’t look that good. Was in a barn.
That looks like Jerusalem Township is where you found it.
No clue.
How come this T has a distributor and what appears to be a modern alternator?
Car had been modified before I got it for touring. Alt and dist are available at all T parts vendors. Some like over stock. “To each his own”
@@KlepsGarage Stock is always in fashion.
Looks like Permatex valye grinding compound to me.
Yep. My mouth doesn’t always say what I’m thinking. No scripts used at Kleps Garage.
05:30 - too fast pulling for that oldest engine, isn't?
The camera makes everything faster than real. 10 to 12 mph tops is where we pulled
I like that one
Thx for watching 😎
What did you do to change the timing. When you climbed out of the car and you left the door open. You bent down and done something with it. Just curious as to what it was. I have a 23 Touring. Great video to.
Rotated, the distributor left and right advance, and retarding the spark manually. As a distributor is an aftermarket item. Have to tune by ear as no timing marks.
They had to use mohair.
Larry hair was too frizzy, and Curly didn't have any.
Boo haha. That’s the best line ever for Moe Hair. Email your address and I will send you a door prize. KlepsGarage@gmail.com.
@@KlepsGarage my other most favorite line was when Moe said to Curly:
"Why don't you get a toupe' with some brains in it?"
Nice
These aren’t barn finds, they were already restored previously. Right now my T is in an old chicken coop I guess it is a chicken coop find but I already know where it is 🙃
Yeah yeah. Again went after the Auburn. Not the T. Still Auburn and Hudson had been sitting a long time
Barn find is click bait in UA-cam Vill.
@@KlepsGarage nice video though…. I have to do a valve job on mine this winter.
People are loose with the terms "original" and "barn find." If it's all repainted and re-upholstered, it neither.
Nice video. Did you pull the spark plugs and put it in high gear when you were towing it?
Plugs was trying to start. When started only running on one cly. It had issues.
And I’m here waiting for money
Does this car have a Ruckstell two speed rear end?
Yes it did. But car has sold.
Mohair comes from goats.
Doesn't it sound like a steam train? Or a diesel barge?
Title says "Will it run?". Answered in the first second of the video.
That’s to get you to watch. Worked.
I just love these videos, but as an English speaking South African, i can hardly understand a word of what is being spoken!
Put the transcript on its close to what I’m saying.
Sorry. I know what you mean went to Australia couldn’t understand their English either. 😂😎
Si pero' l'accensione non è l'originale, è stata convertita a spiterogeno, solo che l'alternatore non esisteva nel 1920 c'era la dinamo.
Yes was converted for touring. Car has been sold. I still liked the auburn
That was not a T model horn, other than that, nice car.
Hmmm 🤔. I personally don’t think it’s big enough. 😂
Are you going to sell that?
Email at klepsgarage@gmail.com.
I would have bought them old boat motors,
My friend did buy one motor and an old town canoe why we were there
@@KlepsGarage nice. just found your videos today. 1st was the curved dash Olds. It was a realy good video as was this one. I have a bunch of old boat motors so I like to look for them when I see piles of stuff. thanks.
Oh, yes? A restored model T found in a barn? You could of said the same about mine...in a barn with 15 years of dust, before putting it in a museum...are people this gullible? This is not an unrestored car someone put away before WW2 and forgotten...
Do I detect sarcasm. As the title says and as the video says I went to find a barn find Auburn which had been sitting longer than 15 years. I didn’t buy it because it was way over priced. Left the Auburn sit and bought the T as it has parts that readily available.
Thanks for watching
Barn find my ass !
What would you call it.
A barn find, and a great barn find if I may say so. Nuff said.
Total packrat!
Him or me 😂😂😂😂😎
