    2021 UPDATE: This is still relevant for Mythos :) There's not much that has changed with ANY of the characters.
    Thank you all so much for watching! If you need help with any of the basics, or perhaps which TROJAN Hero to select, here are the other guides I've done!

      Hello, ItalianSpartacus. I guess the best heavy infantry in the game is now Ajax's Wall and Ajax's Companions, now. These guys, with the blessing of Heaphestus, armor upgrade and some tech tree upgrades, some buildings in his special tree, are Practicaly Indestructuble and immovable AND on top of all Ajax has some skils to even further improve their anti charge and melee and missile defense even more = practically beyond the BAR !!!! :)
      I get great enjoyment seing enemy crush themselves into them way and way again= INCREDIBLE.

      Let's appreciate the time and money they put into fleshing out each and every character and faction in the game. 5 years ago, you'd basically have a map with factions on it, all with the same mechanics and 80% of the same units

    The Assuwan League isn't from the Iliad I think, it's actually historical and it's based on a Western Anatolian confederacy of Luwian cities that also included Wilusa, the likely candidate for the historical Troy. The league existed as an attempt to resist Hittite dominance in the region, and according to Hittite sources it sometimes fought with and against Mycenaeans as they were trying to expand into Western Anatolia both against the Hittites and the local peoples.

      yeah it's likely the trojan war was really the Luvians vs the Hitties and the Greeks were on the Trojan side. I suspect that the Iliad was really an Anatolian / Luvian tale and it was later adapted by the Greeks.

    Firstly thank you for the excellent video. You have one of the most informative channels about total war and bannerlord i have come across on youtube.
    I think that a cool idea for a DLC in the future would be for them to do the Aeneid. They could craft a story about Aeneas and how he fled Troy to establish a colony in Italy which would later become Rome. Perhaps we could even see Romulus and Remus as characters in the game.

    Paris is ironically one of the more battle focused heroes, his unique mechanics are mostly not very good (unlike Hector where being Priam's heir can feed his Assuwan league mechanic well) but he gets a power unit in tier-3 Trojan nobles. He just needs gold, lots and lots of gold to train them.

  • @yunyng

    I don't think the Assuwa league was mentioned in the Iliad. It was actually taken from Hittite documents about a league of city states in Eastern Anatolia that opposed them, one of which was Wilusa, which we think is Ilios/Troy.

If he's got 300 less you should probably try and off load the gold so he can't accuse you of greed. Likewise if your brother has a lot of gold see if you can find something to spend your gold on until you have 300 less so you can accuse him of greed!

    I have done my first campaign with Anean, and I don't quite agree with the comments on the mission given by reading the omen. They are mainly all the same: "have 150 gold at the beginning of the turn", "defeat general X in battle", "raze or loot city X", "raid province X". And the bonus is always the same: 60 favor for a specific god. What it does is help you achieve the part of his homeric victory about getting 300 favors with every god, as well as counterbalance his other mechanic that makes you lose 10 favor with every god when you activate it.

      I like it
      It's like total war arena, very competitive and hard actually
      It's unlike any other TW I've played and I own all of them and have been playing the franchise for around 13 years or more
      This one is by far the hardest in terms of battles. It's a very rock, paper, scissors mechanism that is great for balance/competition pvp
      It's very hard to cheese in battles, the game is very dependent on morale and flanking is massive here. No cav makes it easy to balance, but hard to kill off retreating enemies, so definitive victory is hard
      Warhammer is a different game, but I think both have a bad archer mechanism, attack...it's very hard to use a archer hero without getting destroyed

      Solid game but historic period doesnt interest me and the unit roster is pretty bland. Warhammer has destroyed historic total war for me. Unless they bring out empire or napoleon 2, then im on board.

    CA need to remember one thing that made Total War games great and different was BATTLES, unlike the Paradox nonsense that is all about micro managing logistics and calling it grand strategy. I am sure Napoleon & Alexander had people to micro manage food and resources but that is not grand strategy. I've played Troy for nearly 30 hours, bought the Amazons DLC, seems pointless, the aim seems to be to work towards saving Troy from their inevitable invasion by Greeks, but then I thought what have the Trojans ever done for us. Back to Attila and Ancient Empires2 to fight some battles. Seems like only the modders know what the Total War fans want anymore.

    • @omairshafiq1998
      @omairshafiq1998 Рік тому

      The point of the game isn't to save troy. It's to ward off the Greeks from capturing your lands and coming for you.
      Even though homers work is based on a pointless war. The main premise of the historical Trojan war was the subjugation of the people ruling Ilion by the Greeks and the Hittites that's why you see the "securing" the eastern flank mission in hectors campaign.
      The Amazons however seem have have been a separate people with a separate goal

  • @alicearnold8610

    My main criticism of troy is that it takes too much from Warhammer in the battles area- specifically models. All of the models use warhammer skeletons (or what the thing is that determines how a model is animated). The centaurs are just marauder skirmishers, etc I guess it's like, a tiny complaint, but it is super grating lol. Makes it feel like it's not its own game in a way. You don't really get that in the campaign map, though, and I like how stylistic the game is.

    This game is kind of broken right now. 3-5 Chariot unit cards can DESTROY 2 full stacks of an army and you can literally steal other faction's resources with barter agreement. If CA fixes these issues, this game would be much better.

  • @FlyingDragoon8

    First playthrough as Hector: Excited to create an army and defend against the Spartan hordes.
    The hordes never arrive and my allies are too strong. I gain map data via Military Alliances and suddenly I see that everyone is having a colonisation free for all on Greece a la Africa in the age of European colonization. Everyone's just carving it up and I am just sitting there, island hopping my way across for my own slice.
    The spartans never came and the thousand ships that sailed for Troy actually sailed the other way to conquer Greece.
    I am kinda disappointed at how easy it was to steam roll the enemy. The entire East is my ally and no one has any threats besides greek mainland.
    Honestly, I blame the auto battle system being broken. Huge armies just steamrolled by my allies due to auto-calc.
    I want mods.

    This game is super hard compared to Rome 2. The political system is a mess in this game and makes little to no sense. I'm playing as Paris with all the Trojans as my my military allies yet I'm the only one out of them fighting the Greeks and I can't get any of my allies to join the fight, what is the point in having military allies?
    Also resource system seems like it needs a fix, I can have 3 or 4 provinces yet only still be able to afford 2 proper armies?

    • @varamo9917
      @varamo9917 4 роки тому

      Especially with settlements that cannot defend themselves or hold long enough for your army to reinforce, despite having a defense building, it would be nice if armies were cheaper. I see the AI field 2 full stacks and 3 half stacks, while I can only field 1½ stacks with 3 fully upgraded food provinces on hard difficulty. So I conquer with my faction leader, and press the panic button and summon Hero+Cyclops when an enemy ignores my army to beeline towards my home province.

    • @Cba409
      @Cba409 4 роки тому

      One or two armies is all u need, even on legendary difficulty. Unless u r spamming dardanian mobs, then u can get like 5 or 6 armies. The game is actually quite easy once u learn to stack all the pertinent buffs.
      And if u quickly complete the epic quests for a homeric victory u can end the campaign in less than 100 turns with some factions.

      The truth behind the myth aspect is honestly my favorite aspect. This isn’t Bronze Age Total War. It’s basically Homer’s Iliad total war, which was created in the 9th century BC, 300+ years after the Trojan War. That’s why the imagery is all black figure Greek pottery when none existed in the Bronze Age. That’s why the “giants” are really just big dudes, and not actually all that giant, and the centaurs are just the only horse units in the game. All the divine bonuses make some sort of sense while still having a semi-magical element. It works very well, and considering you haven’t even played the game, you’re just hating on it for some personal reason or another.
