Don't worry. They still make their money on the front end - to the tune of nearly 2% or more for every transaction that you initiate. Discover is one of the best companies for the average, everyday consumer. Cash back, no fancy rewards system to keep up with. Just use your card then ta-da you get cash. I don't even use my cap1 card because of the lack of rewards and the lack of increased credit lines. Discover makes sense for EVERYONE I know.
Best card ever!! Had mine since 1987. I use it as often as possible. I pay the full balance every month so I've never paid any interest and always get cash back. I feel like I'm beating them at their own game.
I've had a Discover card for almost 20 years but up until the last 10years or so it was unusable. Even big stores like Home Depot didn't accept it...and in Puerto Rico, there was only one store that would take it, Wal-Mart, which I rarely visited.
Love my two discover cards. First year 0% APR and cash back match. They gave me my highest limit, and have given me credit line increases multiple times. Even if you call in after your 0% APR expires you can usually get them to give you another 12 months if you say you’re planning a big purchase soon and couldn’t decide which card to use. Works every time. Lol
My first and favorite credit card. I got my first credit card my freshman year of college and it had a $500 credit limit. It was enough to have fun but not enough to hang myself. Over the years, I’ve grown my credit limit and credit score with them. They also let you view your FICO credit score without charge and their website is easy to navigate. I’ve never used their app but I get the feeling it would be just as user friendly. Never had an issue with them. I have two other credit cards but this one is truly my favorite.
I am upper middle class and I still use discover, my first credit card issuer, simply because of their simple cash back offers. I use Amex, visa and mastercard too
I have discover and I'm happy with it because customer service is English speaking and American citizens I can actually understand unlike my other credit cards.
My parents have a Discover account dating back to 1987. They've always been very happy with it. I'm their least favorite type of customer. Always pay in full and only purchase what's in the 5% back category. I do the same with a Chase Freedom. The rest goes onto an AMEX Platinum. I like my Platinum and it's travel benefits, but 5% cash back is 5% cash back.
I have a discover card and also took out an installment loan with them. They are absolutely amazing and have GREAT customer service and support. I gladly promote them and their seevices. They are great honestly
Relocated from Australia. No credit history in the US. Got a credit card with Discover, I paid them $1000 which was my limit. After 6 months they repaid the $1000. It was the best option at the time.
My first secured card as well, went from $200 straight to $1800 limit in the first six months plus cash back match for the first year. My only complaint is that I’ve had countless merchants who don’t accept Discover so I always have to ask first.
@Colma B Well it depends. The amex card I have pays for itself and then some. Its technically a charge card, not a credit card, and because I pay it off every month there is no interest.
Discover is Awesome!! I moved to the USA recently and had no credit history. Though I had a stable job, every financial services denied my application just bcos I dont have credit history. Comon, how can anyone have CH when none of them gives an opportunity to create it. Finally, I applied for Discover card and I got the card with 2000 credit limit. During my stay at US, I used Discover card and I loved it and its services.
no annual fee and a partnership with the NHL has kept me a 10+ year customer
Discover's customer service is the best, both credit card and banking.
dammit ...i am watching 10 minutes credit card advertisement.
I got my Discover Card in 1989, still have one.
"There is a relentless focus here at Discover on limited debt businesses"
lmao that CEO knows how to run the company, keep yourself out of debt and put everyone else in it
They're literally a credit card company duh
Discover is one of the best companies for the average, everyday consumer. Cash back, no fancy rewards system to keep up with. Just use your card then ta-da you get cash.
I don't even use my cap1 card because of the lack of rewards and the lack of increased credit lines. Discover makes sense for EVERYONE I know.
Discover have been nothing but kind to me. Weird to say that about credit card company but it’s true.
I rarely carry a revolving balance, but I love my Discover card. They have great customer service and great interest rates.
However, the Visa and Mastercard names are far more recognized worldwide than Discover, which is still heavily US-centric.
I use my Discover for over 99% of my transactions.
Lol
Really ?
@@lamontgray6015 yup. Just did it again a few weeks ago for both my cards.
@@allanj7750 I want you to update this thread every time you use this theatric 😂
Plus was the first credit card to approve me after bankruptcy do to medical bills. They started me with $2000
Discover was the only card I was approved for when I first migrated to the US. For that I recommend it to everyone I know.
2:46 In a nutshell: Our focus is that consumers get into debt and pay high interest rates 😁
Yep so true. Recently i ran my annual credit report and im being hounded via emails for credit card offers from the credit agencies. 🤣🤣
"The borrower is slave to the lender"
Go away Dave Ramsey
What if you borrow the money and then immediately pay it back and also collect up to 5% back
@@jvyeknom Then you are not in debt and not a slave to the lender. Good for you, keep going.

They really know how to market to college students me and everyone I know in my college have a discover card
Discover is a great company with awesome customer service
I love discover this was my first credit card because they where who would accept me. I would recommend this card for your first credit card
Love these vids!!
I'm a loyal Discover Card user, because they've supported me 100% whenever I had a dispute with a seller.
Just pay off your balance after every month... Their interest ain't no joke....
@@keyroncampbell So true. When I started doing that many years ago, my credit score shot up like a rocket. I don't use VISA/Mastercard.
09:47 I stopped, I got an email 📧
My first secured card as well, went from $200 straight to $1800 limit in the first six months plus cash back match for the first year. My only complaint is that I’ve had countless merchants who don’t accept Discover so I always have to ask first.
Mine just did that last week
I dont't get why you would buy "consumer goods" if you would have to pay interest on it
Things like rewards and not having to walk around with a lot of money.
@Colma B Well it depends. The amex card I have pays for itself and then some. Its technically a charge card, not a credit card, and because I pay it off every month there is no interest.
@@kaiyoung9983 The comment meant why would you carry a balance on your card for consumer goods.
Elliot Fogelklou If you pay your statement balance off every month, you don’t have to worry about interest but you still get the cash back benefits.
Only spend money on things that help you make more money
They won me over because they have great cash back and excellent customer service. Discover has always been my favorite credit card company.
I am a customer who always set auto payment and Discover earned one more loyal customer. I will always appreciate and thank them by regular usage and timely payments. DISCOVER is the BEST!!!
Just talking to someone who speaks English was very appealing for me🤷.
Just got my 1st Discover Card today, it's pink 😍 💗 and I love it already. Super easy app and zero percent for 18 months can't be beat. $7000 credit limit is my highest limit card! I pay in full eqch month so don't plan to keep a balance but it's there if I run into an emergency or have a big unexpected bill! Thanks for the education on the company!
As long as they have American employees I'll use them
1:28 CNBC, informative video... though, why would you retrieve data from J.D. Power? They are a pay to play service and can manipulate data to reflect whatever you would like to see
I LOVE Discover card!
Love the customer service. Native English speaker with understandable accent. Polite, patient, professional personel, get things done, do not need to stay on hold or being transferred. Got the card twenty years ago in college, I called them on due date, they waived my first late fee because I was not able to get hold of a computer to pay, I was touched.
Was so excited when the designs were out. Very slick and stylish.
It may not be accepted by a random merchant once a long while, it's ok.
Website is easy to use. Have not had a fraud transaction. Always pay in full, and built my credit score.
Discover was a companion of mine growing into adulthood. Thanks Discover.
They were the first one, issued me the credit card. All other companies were not ready because I was young lol And with the time I have got credit line increased. 820 always.
My main cards are Discover. I have all the others but I must say Discover is my favorite and the only reason I have the others is because Discover isn’t accepted everywhere. Their App is easy to use and customer service is on point. I will be a user for life.
They got good 5% cash back but Amex still has better card benefits
Yeah but most amex cards have a annual fee
@@youmadbro951 Also, AmEx is a 'charge' card, not a 'credit card'.
Amex has a good points system but paying 250 a year for the rest of your life.... I'm good
@@waflletoast11 If one can pay off the entire balance within thirty days then AmEx is a good card to have. $250! When I had one it was $$39 per year.
@@tbucknor I don't understand the difference. Can you explain?
I have AMEX, Capital One, and Discover and one this Discover beats all competitors is their AMAZING 100% US based customer services. My experience with their customer representative is beyond amazing
Get the Discovery IT cash back card for 5 percent cash back for quarterly category, no annual fee, no foreign transact fee. Always has it in my wallet.
Amazingly great informative newscast ! Thanks so much CNBC.
I never thought I would * discover* this

Discover was always there when I needed them. They gave me a chance to build credit. Till this day I really recommend this card for people building credit
I would get cash for good grades as well. School does pay off lol
Discover gave me a chance to rebuild my credit thank you Discover
My first credit card was a discover card when i was in college at 18. A lot of my friends did the same and started with discover as a student. That’s a pretty big demographic, young people.
I just paid off a 6k discover balance.... Never again .... They did waive interest this month because I paid off the balance.

Good luck credit cards. I will NEVER carry a balance on a credit card or pay any finance charges ever again. I will go homeless and be out on the street, or die, before I'd ever have credit card debt again. THANK YOU DAVE RAMSEY!!!! I am debt free, and never going back.
I have other credit cards but Discover is the only one I use. Had my card since 1999 been happy with their service.
I like my Discover card, and their website is stupid easy to use if you need to update anything (ex: travel plans). Also, it is accepted in a fair bit of locations, haven't really had much of an issue with it
