@@bsca1956 No credit debt at all. I and all my college friends pay it off in full. If you can’t pay your credit card in full in the first place, you shouldn’t have one 🤷♀️
@@bsca1956 having a credit card allows you to build your history. It proves to banks and institutions that you’re financially responsible and can pay back what you owe each month. Credit cards shouldn’t be used if you can’t afford something at the moment or you need to save up for it. It should be used just like a debit card, that’s why the cards have spending limits (you choose the limit it’s like a budget). The only difference being that you pay your bill off in FULL every month. Credit history is needed especially if you’re going to make big purchases in the future (cars, sign apartments, buy houses, business loans etc). Plus there’s many benefits like cash back or flights or rewards that you can get through using a credit card. Why use a debit card in the first place and not reek the benefits when you can use a credit card and have the benefits.
@@swipingsquirrel There's also a few key parts you missed. Some companies when underwriting will check your score even if you're not financing anything. Want cheap car insurance? Better have a good score or pay higher than someone who has an 850 score. You'll still get insurance regardless, but you'll be penalized for having terrible or no credit. Starting up utilities, water, or gas? Better have a good score to get the first month free or prepay the first few months up front as a secured deposit. Want a cell phone plan with the big three? Pony up a good score or get resorted to prepaid plans, which look cheap but cost more in the long run. It's a necessary evil, but you have to have a credit score to live in America.

Their refusal to earn profit at any cost has earned them my respect and my continued business.
Don’t have their credit cards. but found out about their cash back DEBIT card and I haven’t touched my Chase debit card since then. mainly just keep it open to have physical access to a branch or as a backup if a certain merchant doesn’t accept discover.
So, about half the population pays interest on credit card debt, and the other half pays them off in full monthly, using them solely for cash back rewards, free hotel stays, free plane tickets, free car rentals etc. The way I do it is I use rewards cards to pay my living expenses and the cash back rewards essentially makes it like I'm short-term borrowing money at a negative interest rate (I owe back less than what I borrow)

I have AMEX, Capital One, and Discover and one this Discover beats all competitors is their AMAZING 100% US based customer services. My experience with their customer representative is beyond amazing
I have a discover card and also took out an installment loan with them. They are absolutely amazing and have GREAT customer service and support. I gladly promote them and their seevices. They are great honestly
Relocated from Australia. No credit history in the US. Got a credit card with Discover, I paid them $1000 which was my limit. After 6 months they repaid the $1000. It was the best option at the time.
Good luck credit cards. I will NEVER carry a balance on a credit card or pay any finance charges ever again. I will go homeless and be out on the street, or die, before I'd ever have credit card debt again. THANK YOU DAVE RAMSEY!!!! I am debt free, and never going back.
no annual fee and a partnership with the NHL has kept me a 10+ year customer
Just talking to someone who speaks English was very appealing for me🤷.
Discover is Awesome!! I moved to the USA recently and had no credit history. Though I had a stable job, every financial services denied my application just bcos I dont have credit history. Comon, how can anyone have CH when none of them gives an opportunity to create it. Finally, I applied for Discover card and I got the card with 2000 credit limit. I am a customer who always set auto payment and Discover earned one more loyal customer. I will always appreciate and thank them by regular usage and timely payments. DISCOVER is the BEST!!!
I have credit cards,... however i don't pay a dime in interest....you need to NOT carry over a balance... charge a small amount, less than 10% and be able to pay it off before your billing cycle.
They won me over because they have great cash back and excellent customer service. Discover has always been my favorite credit card company.
People are not building wealth by being in debt, they are building the wealth of these companies and their shareholders and CEOs. I only use credit cards for its 5% bonus cash backs and categories every season, nothing else. Pay off balance every month and charge only what you need to spend and not anything above that. Responsible financial transactions should be practiced by everyone looking to take control of their financial well being.
My main cards are Discover. I have all the others but I must say Discover is my favorite and the only reason I have the others is because Discover isn’t accepted everywhere. Their App is easy to use and customer service is on point. I will be a user for life.
Discover is a great company with awesome customer service
Just got my 1st Discover Card today, it's pink 😍 💗 and I love it already. Super easy app and zero percent for 18 months can't be beat. $7000 credit limit is my highest limit card! I pay in full eqch month so don't plan to keep a balance but it's there if I run into an emergency or have a big unexpected bill! Thanks for the education on the company!
I LOVE Discover card!
Without watching I’m gonna guess it’s because they accept people with high risk credit and people with no credit history
Rommie26 sounds like capital one
Not true, Good credit needed with other credit cards with good standing
iPhone5244 that’s more like Credit One
leonxl true that lol
I just paid off a 6k discover balance.... Never again .... They did waive interest this month because I paid off the balance.
Cam23 Dave Ramsey approved!
Nice 👍

My first secured card as well, went from $200 straight to $1800 limit in the first six months plus cash back match for the first year. My only complaint is that I’ve had countless merchants who don’t accept Discover so I always have to ask first.
Mine just did that last week
They were the first one, issued me the credit card. All other companies were not ready because I was young lol And with the time I have got credit line increased. 820 always.
Discover approved me when no other competitors would. I had a $300 limit, which in three years was $5000. I’ve since completed professional school, and my income has increased fourfold, and I now have a good Chase card. But I will NEVER get rid of my Discover card, and I’ve moved my savings account to them as well. Superb customer service.
Literally all my college friends have discover... it’s the only card they use
@@bsca1956 No credit debt at all. I and all my college friends pay it off in full. If you can’t pay your credit card in full in the first place, you shouldn’t have one 🤷♀️
I've never owned a credit card and I'm in my early 20s.
Discover gave me a chance to rebuild my credit thank you Discover

Go away Dave Ramsey
What if you borrow the money and then immediately pay it back and also collect up to 5% back
@@jvyeknom Then you are not in debt and not a slave to the lender. Good for you, keep going.

Get the Discovery IT cash back card for 5 percent cash back for quarterly category, no annual fee, no foreign transact fee. Always has it in my wallet.
I like my Discover card, and their website is stupid easy to use if you need to update anything (ex: travel plans). Also, it is accepted in a fair bit of locations, haven't really had much of an issue with it
3% back for the first year, with no annual fee? sign me up.
As long as they have American employees I'll use them
I dont't get why you would buy "consumer goods" if you would have to pay interest on it
Things like rewards and not having to walk around with a lot of money.
@Colma B Well it depends. The amex card I have pays for itself and then some. Its technically a charge card, not a credit card, and because I pay it off every month there is no interest.
@@kaiyoung9983 The comment meant why would you carry a balance on your card for consumer goods.
Elliot Fogelklou If you pay your statement balance off every month, you don’t have to worry about interest but you still get the cash back benefits.

Great documentary that highlights a lot of points about modern society. I am surprised to hear that consumer debt on the decline. I thought it was on the rise but maybe times are a changing. Banks don't have the pull they used to have with consumers. Time for them to start an advertising campaign and win us over. ;)
My first credit card was a discover card when i was in college at 18. A lot of my friends did the same and started with discover as a student. That’s a pretty big demographic, young people.
Do one of these on capital one!
Capital One was great to me when I lost my job and waived things for me. Discover card harassed me daily threatening to send me to collections.
Best bank ever that embarrasses the mainstream banks like Chase, Bank of America, and Citibank, which I don't know why people are still using.
@@inconvenientexistenlism totally agree

Cashback match, generous return percentages, low credit rating, zero-apr for 1 year and custom design cards, Discover was an excellent first card for me and (thanks to referral programs) all my friends!

I have credit cards from most major banks. It is easy to see why investors aren’t happy with Discover. Discover does not try every desperate move to separate their customers from their money unlike some other banks.
Their refusal to earn profit at any cost has earned them my respect and my continued business.

My discover card dates back to 1987. Dang I'm old!
I discovered I owe $0 on my one credit card. Debt is dumb and credit cards are the worst kind.
When I turn 18 next week I plan to use discover, they have good benefits for college students and I want to build my credit early.
Don’t have their credit cards. but found out about their cash back DEBIT card and I haven’t touched my Chase debit card since then. mainly just keep it open to have physical access to a branch or as a backup if a certain merchant doesn’t accept discover.
They have nice Utah Mormon customer service reps, not people from East India with thick accents.
Not sure why people are surprised CNBC can get a ceo to be on the phone
So, about half the population pays interest on credit card debt, and the other half pays them off in full monthly, using them solely for cash back rewards, free hotel stays, free plane tickets, free car rentals etc. The way I do it is I use rewards cards to pay my living expenses and the cash back rewards essentially makes it like I'm short-term borrowing money at a negative interest rate (I owe back less than what I borrow)
I miss my sears!
maybe I should get a discover card.
