The concept of a jazzy cover of a Stokes song never crossed my mind, but man, it souds good.
Marco Solís you should watch the PMJ cover of “Someday” if you need more jazzy Strokes. It’s one of my favorites!
It did not cross mine either because I generally don't care for PMJ covering songs I actually like and appreciate not to mention the song being kind of old school in its' musical structure and rhythm making it rather simplistic to turn to into an earlier genre.
Weird Al did it in 2003 ua-cam.com/video/BeklDFFg6p8/v-deo.html
@@futuresworld both are great!
slap in that clarinet and smooth jazzy voice, I can't stop watching.
I say this as a clarinet player: making the clarinet player crawl underneath the piano was priceless
That is when I fell for her....lol. I will also add that Dave is my favorite PMJ drummer ever.
Not to mention she made that whole thing look effortless. I don't think I'll ever be able to play like that
That is no clarinet player, that is chloe,
hahahaha
@@m.wapstra664 I thought it was! Her style is very recognisable.
She ain’t just singing, she cuddling the music.
EXACTLY! Cuddling the music! 😹😹
My fav comment
Poetry
People may not understand, girlfriends won't understand, spaceships they won't understand, but her clarinet gives me chills.
You should hear the cover of “Dancing With Myself” that she did with PMJ.
3:40 the drummer: meh, i don't need that anymore lol
That's why I put felts and wingnuts on my cymbal stands.
@Jeremiah Bullfrog that was hilarious!!!
@Jeremiah Bullfrog man I wondered where she came from 😂 she just popped up lol
Watch the bass player when it happens. I dont think he was ready for yet
Isn't that the greatest! The extra symbol crash works just fine too. Hahah. What a champ.
this is so serene, her voice makes me feel like everything's going to be okay
The snow outside really adds
Exactly! Her singing puts a big smile on my face. It's just sublime.
Man we so need more voices like hers!
Me tooooooo
Are you sure? Because I dont think she will ever understand.
the snow outside the window is such a vibe
Yes!!! 😍😍
I bet it's tambourine guy sprinkling fake snow from the floor above.
How did you take your eyes off the dame?
The clarinetist crawling out from underneath the piano was a bigger vibe.
@@conniethepiper3893 I didn’t
I love the sub-plot of this video, watching people's reaction when they see the clarinet player crawling underneath the piano, and when she gets up too. Also when the drummer accidentally drops the Ride (that drum cymbal) and everyone is holding their laught is priceless.
Easy one of the best videos that PMJ have, you don't only enjoy the music but everything on it.
I’m the target audience
Perfect comment.
Fr😭
Same
When The Strokes had a listening session with Gordon Raphael, their producer, Julian told him 'We want to sound like a band from the past that took a time trip into the future to make their record’. I think this video highlights the strong imprint of "the past" which sounds like "the future" in the strokes. Beautiful.
Kind of like the "Swing Band" in the original Star Wars movie?!?! ;)
Bioshock infinity.
The piano player is playing his part like he's been arranging and writing this cover since 2001. And it's finally ready.
Hahaha omg yess he is so into it
Well he probably has. This whole thing is his brainchild.
Someone needs to study Mr Bradley's music brain. He arrangements are always tasteful and delivered with class.
I would ask if I could "borrow" some brain cells from Scott Bradlee but I am probably too old to be helped by an infusion of fresh brain cells.
More like 1934 😂
I accidentally fell into a hole of music at 2 am and ended up here at 4am and Sweet Megg has captivated me beyond anything else. It helps that everyone around her seems to love what they're doing as much as she is.
Exactly the same happend to me, been at it for 3 hours now in the middle of the night, she is amazing!
*the way that adorable clarinet player just crawled out from under the piano sends me*
shufflythedog look up Chloe Feoranzo.
Made me smile too, I needed that light hearteness on day like today
@@johncosminsky5351 I just did, and wow! She's got a phenomenal voice too!! Just watched the "Dancing with Myself" cover! She has a new fan 🥰
I don’t understand.
@@chrisandersen5635 what ?
Her voice fits perfectly to this melody. PMJ never disappoints.
The original song carries this vibe so hard, and they just brought it to life 🔥
Spot on
The way the clarinet player crawls out from beneath the piano and completely owns the situation is awesome.
Good lord, when she hit that low note on “under“ at the end. Just incredible.
Sweet Megg has been performing vintage jazz in NY clubs for years, and she just keeps getting better and better. This vocal is stellar. Chloe Feoranzo (on clarinet) is already, in her early 20s, a star in the worldwide vintage jazz communty -- simply fantastic. This video is going to be a launching point for both of these talented women!
You have jazz clubs? Like.... where I could go and smoke a fat ciggar while sipping overpriced whiskey? Man I need to get my as in there.
I saw chloe in person and she's god.
Had a short chat with Chloe some time ago, she is a real sweet person, and a fantastic player, and sings as well:) a very talented young lady :)
@@ot0m0t0 Come to LA. All the NY boys will make fun of you but we got some damn fine jazz out here.
Where does sweet Meg playin the village do you know the names of the clu. The Blue Note in the village
Loved it all, but the clarinet girl´s entrance is so adorable and has all my applauds.
Chloe Feoranzo
I'm in love with the clarinet girl❤️ she slayed.
Dancing with myself
No. I am.
For good reason. She’s adorable and so talented.
Yeah, her cover of no surprises is also freakin awesome.
Didn't she tour with Pokey LeFarge?
Whenever Chloe is playing the clarinet for some strange reason I feel so much joy
When she is playing, I find myself grinning from ear to ear
They both put such a smile on my face. This is what music was meant to do, bring joy.
She's wonderful, of course!
I hope it’s alright I say this but she is adorable and talented.. “I know that not everyone likes too be called adorable so I hope it’s okay. “
@eclemensen She actually plays dixie stuff with a banjo guy in a constellation called The Shotgun Jazz Band. They have a cool live version of "That's a plenty!" here on UA-cam.
"filmed before the days of quarantine"
Yes, I too remember those glorious days of freedom...
Many eons ago
Gather around ye children, and let me tell you a tale of life before the great plague... when man breathed every other man's cooties and gave it no thought.
The before times, yes I remember them fondly.
I haven't been familiar with this concept of time for several months now ...
Jeff is what they would have called a "slacker" during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. Today we call Jeff an "anti-masker" or to his face you'd say "selfish piece of shit". But he thinks he's right because he's allowed himself to be deluded by Republican propaganda. Ignore him, marginalize him, and if he attacks respond with the maximum force you're legally permitted to destroy him with. Remember: we fought fascism in the 40s and we need to do it again today. It is your duty as a citizen and a human.
This song is kinda perfect for Jazz styling. I'd love to see Julian on this channel doing some singing.
I feel like I'm that cymbal at 3:40 every time I replay this video. I just get way too excited and can't stay in place.
Haha good spot. It even hit the snare at the right time.
Omg, I've watched the video many times now but I never noticed that! That's a priceless moment! 😁
The soloists are so great, and I smiled so much when she came out from under the piano! Everyone's musicianship is so top notch and it is bringing me so much joy right now.
Chloe Feoranzo is so freaking stellar, can we all just give a nod to that clarinet
I'll drink to that!
She killed it.
Yeah, I love her singing as well. Her PMJ "No Surprises" cover is one of my favorite PMJ tunes.
Her tone is amazing.
Wow, Sweet Megg is just breath-taking!
her voice is just pure honey
As a drummer I can say, as long as it was in time it was intended.
That's right!
That drummer is having such a good time with a big smile on his face and he drops a cymbal to lol
The girl crawling down the piano 🙈 it’s me crawling away from my problems
Hahahaha.. love it too
She did a phenomenal job! Effortless and crisp voice.
I’m just so glad there are still true musicians in the world who can arrange and play this sort of music so well.
"I just wanted to be one of the postmodern jukebox"
The best comment
Best comment ever...!!!
oh my god 😁
👍🎶👍🎶👍🎶💖
Is this an Arctic Monkeys (Star treatment) reference? 😍
Everybody Loves Sweet Megg! How can you not?
I wish music like this would make a huge comeback lol
I would listen to Chloe's clarinet all day long
I have watched 3:40 about twelve times now and it’s makes me smile every time.
Lollll
Yea. :)
It worked so well sound wise, it's great they left it that way and didn't re-record it.
With the bass player and banjo laughing at the drummer... nice touch leaving that in.
Couldn't have timed it better! 😁
I love this version of "The Strokes" classic, I really enjoyed the delicate art of Mrs Sweet Megg and company.
the way she sang ''UUUNdeeeeeer`` was perfect
That type of soft but explosive staccato on the piano is really hard, people don't understand how good that pianist is.
Particularly 1:12
I play guitar and have never touched a piano but I can definitely tell that pianist has serious talent. Staying in time while playing with herky, jerky movement has got to be tough!
This is the truest thing I’ve read on the internet today. 😓
I´m a pianist and i really know how good he is. Amazing.
Oh but we do.
Best clarinet entry, and best cymbal crash. Ever.
i love how much fun everyone is having, lol the crawl out from under the piano was hilarious to me.
Luv her subtle movements
Chloe and her clarinet totally lift this to another level!
That Singer... Oh Boy... Very powerful performance. Thats a whole new level of covers...
What a voice.
Musician passing under the piano for not messing up the frame: 💚
This is so perfect! It's snowing outside, the cymbal falls off and the ladies are amazingly brilliant! First class!
I love & respect immensely Sweet Megg, such a great artist, so special.
Anyone else noticed how Chloe Feoranzo was rocking under the piano while the song played??
It's the cutest thing everrrr 😭
I love how everyone is having so much fun. It feels like they've all just picked up the instruments from a charity shop, joined Scott at a railway station piano and just decided to have an impromptu jam!
I love the drop in register at the end. It's a lovely touch!
I'm in love with the singer, she's beautiful
Yo...
When she crawled out from under that piano though and torn it up... 😂🤣 👏👏👏
did anyone see the splash symbol fly off towards the end of the tune? that was fantastic. its like it stayed in sync as it rolled off and hit the ground. these guys are great.
I just came across this one. It came up after one of my favorites. The clarinet player crawling under the piano stole the show! I'm in love!
In addition to a unique entry, the Clarinet player has some lovely phrasing.
I was probably too excited to see Chloe come out from under the piano she's amazing 😍
I know, right. She had to clean her elbows off.
I wish I had a cute clarinet player that just randomly appeared from under random bits of furniture to play me jazz solos...
Hahahaha absolutely
Lol yes!
Ahhh Chloe, she's something special:)
Apart from the awesomeness of these arrangements and the incredible musicianship of all involved… damn I wish I a) had occasion to dress like these stunning female vocalists do and b) could carry these looks off!!! Perfections all round! I’m a classically trained ex-prodigy (burnt out in other words) clarinettist though so maybe I’ll just dress up, pull my beautiful clarinet out from where I hid it and rock out!
Please do! Music should be shared!
Sounds like a good idea.
Don't you stop! I wanna hear you if no one else does!!! x's & o's
Never got tired of her love her style cute
Sweet, beautiful, tallented, I mean REALLY tallented Chloe. There is just something about her, I wish I was 30 years younger. PMJ as always an absolute joy, beautifully done.
Love how at 1:57 you see a shadow moving under Scott's piano and then out pops the clarinet player.
I love watching the people in the background genuinely enjoy the music they're making and having fun
I like the way Chloe Feoranzo joins the group of musicians from under the piano. Myself and some friends were playing folk music and bluegrass for a group of children in a kindergarten class and one of the boys told us that his favorite instrument was the "bangjo".
2:19 best scene entrance ever
PMJ Fan Trivia: This is the first PMJ video with real snow visible outside the window.
hahaha fantastic Andrew.
Andrew you made this video look so spectacular! Getting that outdoor light to catch the snow was just icing on the cake!
Love that piano player he is barely touching the keys. Love this song. Love my grandsons so much.
Just discovered these guys from my love of the strokes and i'm glad I did
I was already digging this a lot, and then the surprise clarinet solo completely sealed the deal :) great job!
Video starts. Look through the credits...
Clarinet? What clarin... 2:16 Oh. That one.
We love a good surprise cameo 😉
@@postmodernjukebox My wife and I have been to about a half dozen PMJ concerts, and the one Chloe played at continues to be our favorite. Everything she touches just seems to turn to gold.
Half of song she have been under fortepiano!
💋
the whole vibe in the room is amazing. everyone was feelin.
The thing that keeps washing over and over me, is how clear all the voices are! The upright base, the piano, the cheerful banjo and that peppy percussion, and of course, the beautiful clarinet at the end. You've all got that swing, and by jove, it's everything - Love you PMJ
PMJ never ceases to amaze! This gal and her wonderful art deco dress just made my day! What a Doll! The whole band - as usual - were just great!
Every facet of this- the music composition, the dress and style of the musicians, the little moments of humor and smiles- is so completely brilliant and enjoyable. Loved it!
Fantastic! Perfect all the way down to the snow flurries.
Had to go back and watch again. Missed it the first 5 times I watched because that lady under the piano had me transfixed. Yes, those snowflakes are the cherry on top.
That girl jump out of nowhere...this people are passionate about this. Looks amazing.
i can hear each instrument so vividly. they match each other’s pitch so well! even the vocalist
Chloe melts my heart every time.
Her voice is so comforting
Sweet Meg's low notes are amazing!!!
This channel brings so much joy
Aww thanks Maya 😊 We appreciate the love!
@@postmodernjukebox yes, please do more 1990's to 2000's music
Another triumph.
I'm always so amazed how they can perform contemporary songs in a classic arrangement so we'll.
That cymbal/hat falling right before "I don't care no more" was perfect timing. I'm so glad y'all left it in.
Its some kind of a refrence.
The way she sings That "under"stand At the end Was amazing
Ooof that clarinet solo hits different
Gotta love Chloe Feoranzo 😍
Love this!! Playing this over and over today! Love her voice. So unique and perfect for this song!!!
One of my favourites from PMJ💯
All of these wonderful musicians make this sound so melancholic but playful at the same time...
Oh to be in an apartment loft listening to a Postmodern Jukebox cover of the Strokes on a snowy night
lol I had to stop and rewind to see if she was under the piano the whole time.
She sure was :)
Yes, I saw her shadow and wondered WHY would Anyone Ever hide Chloe Feoranzo??? Should have had Chloe in the slinky dress and Sweet Megg in the cocktail dress, (no offense Sweet Megg).
Same! And I was then kinda shocked with myself I hadn't even noticed her!
Well she is kinda short
@@postmodernjukebox she couldnt stand to not move for the vibe :)
She sings very beautiful, I liked it when I heard her the first time💜💜
I cant believe youtube took 5 months to recommend this to me
I LOVED IT SO MUCHHH
Oh my. This is too good. Love the setting. Clarinet is on point. Made my living room feel like a jazz club.
Omg that end gave me goosebumps!!! PMJ always brightens my day ❤❤❤
Sweet Megg knows how to bring it on home!
One of my favorite PMJ performances and it's got Chloe! She's in two of my top three favorites, she's just so awesome.
I imagine her under the piano waiting like tim heidecker's spagett is waiting behind a plant
I love that I can see it's snowing outside the window by the piano. 😁
Beautiful! Perfectly timed for this "shelter at home" time. "It turns me off, when I feel left out". Indeed! And Megg! I gotta say, wow what lovely vocals, and so perfect for this style! The Scat duet with with the clarinet just slayed me! What a beautiful combination of sounds! Love the style of this! Another home run! I am in love with Megg's performance of this song, she really makes my spirit lift and fly!
Absolutely beautiful, musiciens, singer. More of sweet Meg performing please 🙏
I cannot express how much I live this 😍💚
Wonderful!! I can watch this again and again.
