Super annoying when companies half-ass a remaster to then say “see, no one likes the remaster, this means no one wants a sequel!”
If I could give this comment an award, I would. I greatly want to support this franchise, I'm not doing that by purchasing a lazy port collection.
Given how they've handled the remaster, I don't think I do want them to make a sequel, unless Itagaki get's involed (which'll never happen).
I brought the master collection for PS4 and I want my money back.
@@hayabusa1x You took the words right out of my mind. As someone who is a newbie to Ninja Gaiden, fans and the past games should be given respect. If the developers can't handle simple remasters of old games, they don't deserve to make a sequel.
Capcom used to do that a lot in the 360/ps3 gen. It seems that why mega man didn't get a proper sequal and they just kept making Battle network.
I'm glad though because if they put this much effort into a remaster then that means they're not going to do a good job on an actual entry.
So it less "Remaster your Nostalgia with these improved graphics!" and more "Here something we found in the attic or what's left of it. I already dusted it all out, put some new paint on it, and bundled it all together. Now... Where's my $40?" kinda feel.
Exactly.....it's pure garbage. Hopefully Xenia modders can get original version to work via emulation....I certainly hope they don't remove the original version from the xbox store due to this "master" collection.

@@ProfessorSnack except ds remastered improved drastically on consoles where as this garbage has done LITERALLY NOTHING from the last time it was released. DS1 was always a mediocre product compared to demons souls, and it showed when people played it again in 2018.
I got Ninja Gaiden for free when I got the original xbox years ago. Looking at the game today, the combat, the animations, the vibe, the movement is amazing. This is an old game and yet it still beats so many games released 20 years later.
Couldn't agree more.
Ninja Gaiden Black?
The having to manually stretch a window to full screen is a god damned joke.
For real tho. like, in the grand scheme of things, is having to press one button to fullscreen it a big deal? No. But at the same time, it's ridiculous that that's not a feature that's built in. That's been standard on PC games for 10+ years, this just reeks of lazy port. Shame, cuz I used to love these games too
Plus the fact that reshade doesn't work makes me think the game is actually running on a hidden emulator in the game files. The dll files are hidden too which is oddly suspicious.
You dont have to stretch it like shown in the video, you just click on the maximize button and it goes full screen.

Maybe there isn't much to talk about or make a video on?
"Code is lost" translates to "We didn't want to use Itagakis superior code"
Tbf, creating backups and general preservation was just extremely poor in the industry for a good few years so I do believe them. A bunch of games's original versions are just completely gone now. Hence, making emulation legitimately quite important for industry preservation.
Pretty much
@@amarntsitran3406 But how did the Sigma's survive? It's a BS excuse because literally the "enhanced" non itagaki versions were preserved as evidence by this rerelease, but his were mysteriously lost? BULLFUCKINGSHIT! It's called a cop out. Japanese don't like to run their own through the muck, they just exile them. So this excuse was their perfect scapegoat.
So glad I pirated this for the PC. I have all the original titles on the consoles they launched, but I was hoping for a proper PC port. So before I dropped the cash, did as I always do. Hit up the release sites. Thank god I didn't give in and buy it off Steam. Absolute waste of money. Hopefully the console folks enjoy it. But as someone who routinely picks PC if the choice can be made, I'm thankful I can run through these games again, and then send it to the recycle bin while putting my money towards releases that deserve support. I'll play the OG titles in their proper form through either emulation or on my OG consoles. I already have em hooked up through an HDMI switcher to my gaming PC monitor. So it's not like I have to dig em out of the closet and set em back up.
This was an absolute cash grab. Sick and tired of the gaming industry doing this. Rereleasing a cult classic without doing a damn thing. Just switching the rendering target, and then running it through QA to ensure no bugs due to the "port." Hell steam integration is pretty easy now a days, so I doubt they spent any resources doing that.
Oh well at least on PC, considering the release was up on the webs literally a few hours after launch, I can take solace in the fact that they won't get a large number of PC sales. Except for the impulse buyers. Those who always watch at least one review or try before you buy, immediately said "nope, I'll pirate it."
EDIT: Hell, even if they didn't include Black and NG2, I'd still enjoy the game, if they just did the absolute bare basic porting we PC folks expect. Publishers act like we demand the whole kitchen sink. You want to make a nostalgic PC gamer happy? Rerelease a console only title, upscale or if you really want browny points, remaster the graphics, unlock the framerate, put in a settings menu, allow keyboard plus mouse controls, and finally, for MAJOR browny points, put in native ultrawide. Boom. You just printed a cool mint. The recipe isn't hard. But honestly all you need to do is upscale the textures, include a decent settings menu (and with this I literally mean a texture setting, lighting/effects setting, vsync, and AA.), unlocked framerate, and K&M support. Our modding community usually handles everything else. (Remastered textures/assets, ultrawide.) Hell we tend to already fix framerate issues as well.
@@xPreatorianx1
All of that stuff in your last paragraph is welcome on the console end too, and it's also all of the stuff that Tecmo didn't want to give Team Ninja the resources to do.
Tecmo put them to work on a Final Fantasy title and was just looking to get some quick cash from the Ninja Gaiden franchise that they've allowed to rot.
@@amarntsitran3406 sure, lets say the original actually lost. but its their game/IP , nothing should prevent them from improving it (sigma). i mean, they could tweak the sigma version while reviewing the original version or just reverse engineer the orignal black and xbox version thats already in dvd version. there are still people who owns it. heck even LTT review about Xbox series X shows non-sigma Ninja gaiden (just shows that the old game not lost to oblivion).
you will be shocked to know that original CnC actually remastered while improved upon, its way older than ninja gaiden black . and any lost source code actually been created again by using roundabout method. there's always a way
in short, there are remaster that actually improve the game, this one is just lazy re-release and port.
That’s too bad. Ninja gaiden black was one of my all time favorite games. Definitely made an impact on me when I was young playin that game
Same here! This package feels lazy, but a reminder as be mentioned you can just buy Ninja Gaiden Black on Microsoft Store. I never knew they've enchanced nor made it compatible to Xbox One X. Shame that older games like that aren't preserved well and they aren't ported much. I can't find a copy of Ninja Gaiden Black anywhere, on the bright side, last time I looked for Ninja Gaiden Black and Sonic Heroes for the PS2 I ended up finding a copy of Metal Gear Rising, so that's a plus.
That’s nice but not everyone kept their copy or had the chance or interest to play it back then, if you think about it s little, this is also to attract new fans to the franchise
I recall being absolutely in love with the 1st instalment from team ninja. I remember loving the early titles on the NES and how much trouble the 3rd game gave me. I believe it might have brought about my 1st broken controller, as it was either NG3 or Solomon's key that evoked my savage 11 yr old headbutt flurry. I don't recall if I finished 3.
Younger gamers in today's age cannot truly appreciate what Team Ninja did for 3rd person action. I distinctly remember the 2004 release being chock-full of a watershed features!
The feature I always find most personally evocative, was the fidelity of character animation. Whether during fast paced action or slow sneaking, your hands and feet, for the 1st time in a video game, matched where they should be, in scale and placement on all surfaces.
It may seem fickle now, but it was absolutely transcendent for me & made me feel like a true bad-ass! ... When I could memorise the super difficult combos, that is.

How to make money 101:
-make a game
-make it good
-rerelase it when it gets outdated for 40 bucks
-profit
The key is make it good, too bad EA, Activision and Bethesda can't even make good games let alone sell them again
you forgot to add some lines, here:
-make it not support keyboard even tho it has a pc port
-make it have the worst versions of the first 2 games and 3rd which already was the black sheep
-make it not have any quality of life upgrades that came out a decade ago
-it's cuz it's less work to do

As somebody who loves Ninja Gaiden and Souls-likes, Nioh is MUCH more like Souls than it is like Ninja Gaiden.
Ninja Gaiden is a very straight forward action game that is more like Devil May Cry than it is like Nioh.
Nioh is slow paced, methodical, and is too bogged down in completely unnecessary RPG mechanics.
I appreciate Nioh as a Souls-like, but as somebody who adores Ninja Gaiden, Nioh ain't it.

I couldn't imagine playing ninja giadan 2 without the gore
I bought it, and it def sucks without the gore. Def should have watched this first
They have a day one patch to add gore try downloading it
Wasnt just the gore, although it's a nice indicator. When an enemy was missing a limb they became a suicide bomber, so if you came flying in and took a leg off and left the guy crawling around. he might grab you, tackle you, and pull the pin on a grenade.
Downloaded the patch it def helps but I really really don’t like the sigma changes. Played the o.g. Version for the 360 and I’d rather go find that and play it like falcon said. Shame though I love ninja gaiden.
How do obliteration techniques work in NG2 if there’s no gore?

Literally the only Falcon video I’ve ever hard disagreed with, but I can completely understand why. I played the 3 Ninja Gaiden games on my PS3 back in the day, so this collection was an instant purchase for me. £30 is a really good price for 2 fantastic games and one average one. I’m having an absolute blast playing though on my PS5.
Just get NG Black and NG 2 on Xbox since they are perfectly enhanced, especially on Xbox One X cuz of silky smooth 60 fps.
By far some of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming. The gameplay is absolutely phenomenal and truly one of a kind.
The Sigma versions lack soul.
As a person who played this game around the age of 4 to 5 on the PS3 I'm a huge fan of the Ninja Gaiden Aeries
I dunno man I bought it on humble for 28e. I have been gaming with a gamepad for a solid decade now. And once I set the resolution in the launch options I haven't thought about it at all. I have never played the og games I only played the Sigmas on Vita and loved it. Once you get in the game there is literally zero problems. I agree the release is barebones but I also think people exaggerate the hell of it
I played sigma first so this isn't bad to me. I never played black. I played all the sigma and I loved them so this is a good buy for me personally
Thanks for the honesty, finally someone I can totally agree with! Seems like the usual cash grab, so common these days 😔 give us ng4 already! Lmao
Not common at all actually. You must be a casual.
Dude it's just a port for people who haven't played the games not supposed to be updated graphics I don't know why you expect that
I preordered because I grew up on ninja Gaiden 2004, ninja Gaiden 2 and ninja Gaiden razors edge. 2/3 of these are different versions from the master collection with the exception of Razors edge. I’ve beaten all three on mentor or very hard and master since they’ve come out because of how excited I was and I noticed that even with their differences from their arguably better counterparts, the sigma versions are still really really fun even though at some moments they’re disappointing. Just give it a try and if you don’t like it see if you can return it or something like that. I think it’s worth it :)
"Ninja Gaiden 3 is the black sheep of the series"
That's not how you pronounce Yaiba
Yaiba is not even considered part of the series to begin with lmao
But Yaiba still got a good port, i can see similarities between those to like not smooth animation (too fast), maybe that's one of few reasons why 2st NG is the best, super fluid animation
Ninja Gaiden 3 might not be the best in the series but it was damn fun to play thats for sure!! Back on Xbox 360/PS3 i remember creating my own ninja online on that game and playing Co-op with my friends on ninja trials. It was so fun just playing as your own ninja trying to defeat Genshin, Doku, and other tough bosses throughout the series as well as fighting Ryu Hayabusa himself with your friends and just getting izuna dropped the whole time lmao!!😂😂. Now in the master collection with Ninja Gaiden 3 you can still play ninja trials but since they didnt add online features to it that means you cant make your own ninja anymore and there is no more Co-op. It definitely sucks that they took that out but the game is definitely still fun without it, it’s definitely more challenging to players as well now to complete all of the ninja trials all by yourself.
This was my game! Damn I'm glad they brought it back. No other game matches up to me in terms of fast paced in your face combat.
I got on to the regular version of Ninja gaiden before I played Ninja Gaiden Black so the switch is nothing for me. Still waiting on Ninja Gaiden 4 so this will due for now.

You REALLY underplayed ninja gaiden 2. This is the best out of the trilogy, more weapons and the way you have now the option to execute enemies with each weapon with multiple execution animations made it a masterpiece.
Tbh, I loves playing the original 1 and 2, when going back and playing sigma, I couldn’t put my finger on what the difference was, thanks for clearing that up! I didn’t mind the changes
I agree with what you had to say about the game as well as seeing gameplay of the originals and think they should've gone with those ones instead. I actually never had a 360 so the Sigma versions were the ones that I grew up playing so it's more of a nostalgia trip for me to play these again. I'm actually surprised you didn't mention the hero mode a.k.a the baby mode 🤣. Also haven't played Sigma 2 yet but I'm hoping the sixaxis jiggle physics are still there 🤣.
As of June 2022 its on Xbox Game Pass which makes me glad, because I could've seen myself impulsively picking this up if I was bored on a weekend. Thankfully Yakuza 0 is keeping me plenty busy and entertained for now.
I only have NG 1&2 on my vita. (Yes I still have my relic vita and i love it.) So i bought the master's collection on my switch just recently. Never really notice any difference except for the gore on the vita. But i think the vita has sharper color than the switch version also.
I’m more frustrated that the US version is digital only with no physical version. That makes me mad I’m still going to get it but I’m mad that I have to go to play Asia to do it but that’s OK.
Black not being on there, nah I'm good on that
Got this on Switch and as a fan of the series it's amazing to play this handheld on my couch. Totally worth 40 bucks.
Idk for 40 bucks and having played both versions of all these games, I’m still happy with the games themselves, and either version is completely fine with me, I’m not one to care at all about minute issues. This is also cause I’m a console player...and in my opinion Ninja Gaidens were not meant for PC lol, then again that is my opinion and I’m sure I’ll get shit for it, but these games were meant for console and in my opinion again I think it should have stayed that way, they way they play and work do not fit for PC, just like Arma doesn’t work for console..same goes for ninja, it just isn’t meant to be on a PC. Either way I think it’s okay, and I still enjoyed my childhood whether these are the sigma or original versions.

ninja gaiden 2 was my favorite. i couldnt even bring my self to complete 3.
I almost pooped and vomitted on myself for the way he said iteration!
"Code is lost"
Yet Ninja Gaiden Black and 2 have full 4k 60fps backwards compatability on ONE X, this doesnt add up.
Doesn't come with the original side scrolling 1980's Ninja Gaiden?
I'mma pass on this one.
It’s more like Ninja Dog not Master.
I was so hyped to relive my nostalgia and see my waifus again but jesus the PC port is bad.
I've bought and supported Horizon and Days gone, despite their buggy PC release, but I refuse to support this bare bone treatment.
Days gone sucked tho so
@@jub8951 they actually did a great job on the pc port so props to them for that. Believe it or not, I actually really enjoyed the game as well.
Let’s be real this collection is mainly for Switch and PlayStation gamers. Xbox and PC guys can already play the original versions of these games.
Exactly cause pc gamers can emulate
Just knowing that this doesn't feature Ninja Gaiden Black is enough to scare me off, let alone the port issues.
I'm definitely buying this... when it's on sale... and for less than $5
The way you sound when you describe this collection, at least in the first 4 minutes sounds completely underwhelming, as if you regret that this collection came out. Yet, you acknowledge that they cannot retrieve the code for the version you little babies prefer. So, what did you want them to do, just release no version, at all? The amount of crying and bitching from fans of this series are hilarious, considering 99.9% of them still purchased this version, must have been worth it enough for all of those butt-hurt fans to still buy it.
I'm not so sure what the expectations here is for remasters. NGB and NG2 are available for download on xbox one. Just get those, they even play upscaled.
I look at remasters differently. Think of it as an experiment to see what works.
Team Ninja did well with the Nioh series and they will most likely take that experience and build a brilliant 4th iteration of Ninja Gaiden.
If you re-release an old game, now you can have a different pulse from different types of buyers.
Capcom approached this differently with the RE remakes.
RE2 remake, great. RE3 was not bad but should have been longer and had missed mercenaries.
Which is why Resident Evil Village has turned into such a success. (They even included mercenaries in it!)
You'd think that Microsoft would realize that the first 3 halos were their best ones through the Master Chief Collection.
Some concepts are future proof. Although, using old concepts in newer version of a game also carries a risk that you have a dated product.
We should review boom the collection until they make certain changes to make it better. We deserve better than this especially after the insanely long wait.
Here is a list of changes they should make to the game:
Sigma 1:nothing aggressively wrong with this port so small changes
1.Make all of the costumes from black available
2.(this is for all the games) make all difficulties available to ensure that people who already played them can actually just skip to their preferred difficulty
3.Make the Rachel chapters skippable after a first play through
4.Fix camera issues
5.Remove six ax-xis features
6.Add vibration
7.Make the 360⁰ rotation attack for the Dragon Sword chain into a juggle
8.Add Ninja of the Future costume
Sigma 2:
1.Add back the gore and violence from the original
2.Increase the enemy counts to that of the original
3.Replace the free yet still annoying upgrade system of sigma 2 to that of the original
4.Make the chapters where you play as the heroins skippable after a first play through
5.Add all costumes from the original and DLC content
6.Add back the Windmill surikin
7.Add back charge attack for the bow
8.Add turbo mode from Sigma plus
Razor's Edge:(nothing aggressively bad about this enhanced edition)
1.Add the costumes from 2 and 1
You forgot the last change that needs to be made: totally erase NG3RE from existence😆
@@shinbakihanma2749 lmao, yh
These reviews are absolutely the best in the business . If I had 3 thumbs 👍👍👍 they'd all be up
The Sigma games just aren't as good. Really disappointing that we're stuck with the worst versions of the first and second games.
Doesn't matter the game or the date, you Google "before you buy *insert game name here*" and bam, this guy got you covered it's impressive, that's why I subscribed today, I didn't even know this collection existed, so congrats on your incredible success :)
If you're on series x, I encourage you to actually get the original version that being: Ninja gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Razors Edge.
The first 2 are X enhanced and 60fps locked. Razors edge is well Razors edge with no enhancements but a locked 30.
They’re all on psnow anyways they’re only considerable getting if you want it on switch
PS now is terrible and extremely laggy
PS Now is the last place you want to be playing super responsive action games. Even on my fiber connection it’s garbage.
The best way to play these games is on series x, ninja gaiden 2 and black look and run amazing. I’m playing sigma 2 plus on vita for the gore, these games aren’t bad at all it’s a mixed bag. Newcomers should make the decision for themselves all the games are pretty affordable.
Eh I wanted these games on PS4 for a while so I'm glad they brought them over, but it's still a lazy port. All the xbox fanboys calling Sigma inferior versions are annoying also, next time don't get a bias xbot to review something. This is a terrible review since its mostly just an Xbox fanboy crying about Sigma versions. Nothing to see here people, go watch a better review.
but it really s. I've played both. while not bad, it just, feels off. you don't get that down time to explore, and the removal of content irks me to no end.
@@werewolfjedi38 Either give me real reasons why it's inferior or go away xbot.
the only really big thing i loved in sigma 2 was be able to play as momoji, ayane and rachel. after that theirs not too much else positive to say.
So basically “We played this on PC and had a bad time.”
Cool, I’m enjoying it.
