Honestly the master collection reignited my love of ninja gaiden so much that I went out and bought black so I could play it and sigma back to back. Regardless of what ninja gaiden ur playing (beside vanilla 3 which I've not played) ur going to experience one of the greatest action games ever made with replay value unparalleled by most games
They werent "lost" but if they released it they would have to pay itagaki royalties and they dont want that. Besides Sigmas truly are the superior versions. anyone saying otherwise is just saying what they heard. the originals and black had horrible frame rates and camera controls

Its not a bad collection, if you're not playing on switch in handheld mode anyway. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Razor's Edge suffer from frame rate drops and resolution issues but at least Sigma 1 runs well on it. And before you ask I just couldn't resist the prospect of taking Ninja Gaiden on the go., it's why I also bought Sigma Plus 1 and 2 on vita. Sigma Plus on the Vita was fine, Plus 2 was.... the switch version is better
Yep otherwise if I didn't have a Switch I might not have gotten it on Xbox. I have NGB and I am getting OG NGII because I didn't finish it when it was on Game Pass.
That was really helpful! I won't be able to test the Switch versions, but Sigma 2 + was a train crash for FPS and general performance. I'm happy its at least somewhat improved for Switch... just surprised that the PS3 version would be considerably better over a current gen consoles! Thanks for the comment.

Source codes were lost, so they would have to re-make the game entirely from the ground up (knowing unreal engine 5 is now the standard lol). Thats why. Same for black. I guess no one could have anticipated they would re-release the games 25yrs later 🫠
I remember hearing there was no blood or extra weapons in Garden 3 (Master Collection) but was pleasantly surprised. Wish I would have bought the collection day one
I you are new to the series or if you are an old fan, getting all 3 games for the PC is definitely worth it. However I am just done with Team Ninja tbh.... To be honest I felt that Team Ninja did a shameless cashgrab and did not really give me what I wanted. The Ninja Gaiden for the original Xbox was gold. It had secrets, it had pussels and it had some of the best cutscenes I have ever seen in gaming back then, the combat was the most fluid shit I have ever experianced, the story was ok but it got the job done and shipped the plot forward. This shit for me was like the first time I rubbed one out. Amazing, addictive and eye opening. Then....What ever they did to the first Ninja Gaiden is a war crime imo. Releasing Sigma versions of the game is probably the worst misstake they ever did. Did I mention these fuckers even lost the source code to the original Ninja Gaiden? Now everything has become so streamlined it litterly does not make sense when you play the game. Finding unique wepons, upgrades or easter eggs where either completly removed or just never bothered to cover it up. Where you used to find the windmill shuriken is just an empty statue, now you get it in the shop. The dark dragon blade just gets handed to you by muramasa when you have collected enough scarabs. The old bow that did not fire straight arrows was removed, back then you had to use a contraption that switched one bow for the other. Before you could shoot the clocktower and get a chest, you could play a mini game on a arcade machine in the bar but it was removed, however the collision for it is still in the game! It just feels lazy and like a shameless cashgrab to pump your fans on. After what happened to Ninja Gaiden 3 I knew that Team Ninja dont give a fuck about Ninja Gaiden anymore. They new that they fucked up however and they had to rerelease Ninja gaiden 3 for a full price. Sorry for being salty but for me personaly this GEM of a game just got ran through and shamlessly pumped on money for zero percent improvement. I am happy that I can finally play one of my favorite games on PC. But it just feels so different from how I remembered it. It looks like the game I played, but it is not the same game.
I got to say ninja gaiden razors edge is one of my faveroute games I’m glad they bought out the trilogy but honestly I don’t understand why they went with the sigma games instead of the original trilogy I was disappointed they didn’t offer an option for 1 and 2 where you could choose between blood and fore or have the option for the toaned down versions but apart from that I think it’s a worth whille purchase
From what I discovered was that they had unfortunately lost the code for black and vanilla 2 which were the versions they wanted to use. So it's not that Team Ninja wasn't listening to fans it was just that they were unable to even do it.

Sigma 1 is still a good action. It’s not as good as NGB, but at least it’s in the same league. Plus it does a few things better like Chapter 11 (water level). I can’t say the same for Sigma 2. Sigma 2 is not the same game. The core aspects of NG2 had to be redesigned due to the hardware of the PS3, and it breaks the game in my opinion. Plus many more annoying differences than Sigma 1. At least the woman chapters were improved at least.

That was hilarious how you stopped yourself from taking vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3 off the shelf. Wow Team Ninja royally screwed up with that one and everybody knows it, just hope they have been watching all the vids and reading comments on how bad NG3 is. At least they redeemed themselves with Nioh. It was just one of those unfortunate times for alot of Japanese devs since JP studios were unable to stay afloat and we're dropping like flies and we're desperate to stay afloat.
Yeah I am not a fan of NG masters collection because its not worth it and sigma 2 still has censored blood and gore and sigma 1 is inferior to black and what I didn't like about sigma 1 and 2 are the cut content and forcing you to play as Rachel in Ryu campaign in sigma 1 which is pretty filler and boring. And same for sigma 2 where you are forced to play as Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel that only has one mission each in Ryu campaign. But honestly it would have been better in NG black when you beat the game on master ninja or eternal legends, you'll unlock Rachel's playable chapters perspective in mission mode. Just like Resident evil 4 on the ps2 where you unlock separate ways which focuses on Ada perspective. And as for ninja gaiden 2 they should of had the DLC missions for Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel as part of mission mode and give you the ability to select chapters with any main characters once you beat the game instead of forcing it to Ryu campaign with censored blood and gore like sigma 2. So yeah if you have an Xbox one or series X, you are better off playing the physical copy of NG Black, 2, and razors edge due to the backwards compatibility.
😒& Despite vanilla NGII being the favorite amongst most players, the devs at K/T for some reason would rather act like it didn't exist. I heard some explanation of not being able to find the master file for the game is what prevented its inclusion into the collection... However it didn't stop them from raking in some cash a year earlier when a version for the Xbox One X dropped. ( It could be that they considered that version already completed & sold separately)

This game gave me the exact hunger i was looking for when i got demons souls as a kid And im replaying it right now on hard and im just bow realizing i never even beat it on normal and i was infact on easy mode because i didnt know that it can lower the difficulty for you if you mash A to reload Bro i am getting so fucking ridiculously cooked i thought i was good at managing difficult games but like im not coming up w good answers 😭 spent 5 hours on FOUR CHAPTERS enjoy my rant its so fucking fun
Ive never had any of physical media deteriorate thats just my personal experience ive been playing the same games and dvds for well over 20 years or much longer
I know this is a bit old but as someone who has never tried these games before, I loved the master collection and thought it was worth every penny I spent. I can understand how long time fans would be upset about the versions chosen for 1 and 2.
Physical games get scratched easily and no pc or laptop today comes with disk reader My entire ps2 library is worthless now due to how fragile dvds were

Started playing the Sigma games 3 days ago. Beat Sigma 2 it's not good, has like 3 good QoL changes but alot worse. Halfway through Sigma 1 and it's NO GOOD too.. bout to cut my loses and delete the game. Gamepass Saving me $ again
@@2emo2function it's not. It's much worse, tons of input lag, dumb bike enemies, Rachel sections. Plus holy fucking BLOOM Sony games use that way too much. Even in Sigma 2 Irene's lace getup is supposed to be see thru but instead it shines with the strength of a thousand suns in Sigma, ridiculous how overused it is on the Sigma games. Even in NG3RE they put more bloom in, ridiculous.
Game discs at least DVDs are gonna last a long time. CD not so much, especially Sega CD and Saturn that’s famous for disc rot. It’s incredibly likely that your games will actually survive longer than the system itself. It’ll also last longer than carts too. Pretty soon, like in 5 years, Atari 2600 carts will be dying. DVDs will die eventually, but not as soon as this video may seem.
Makes me sad that a hack like Kojima’s games are treated like sacred deer yet when Itagaki voices disdain at his own pet projects being bastardized he gets treated like a quack. I like Sigma 2 (Sigma 1 is awful however) but it’s definitely not on par with the original. I wouldn’t say “don’t play Sigma 2” but you should definitely experience the original if you want to say you’ve played Ninja Gaiden 2. I’m kinder to Razor’s Edge than most but it shows Team Ninja’s lack of understanding for the series’ design philosophy. Trying too hard to be like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta instead of being itself. Very disappointing game.
They certainly don't suck, just not as good as the originals. Black and Sigma are close, you can argue for one or other potentially, to me though NG2 is just an objectively superior game to Sigma in almost every way from visuals to gameplay. That's not to say there aren't some things Sigma does better but they don't outweigh the things it does worse.
Tbh I don’t like the collection. I liked black cause of its costumes and the fact they have no stat increase but with sigma I gotta deal with stat increases. Then there’s sigma 2 they didn’t bother to remove the censorship and the original had a massive amount of enemies and a survival mode not only that but color schemes for costumes which they didn’t bother to put. So already a big amount of problems I’m also having to add the fact the sigma versions force u to play alternative characters to progress the story instead of making their playthroughs longer and separate. Then there’s another big issue ninja gaiden 3 re and sigma 2 won’t have their online features so already ur getting cut off on content more which is just a big no IMO
In Sigma 2, they tried to compensate by making it possible to switch between characters during those missions. For 3 RE, they gave all the enemies less health.
If you’ve ever played Ninja Gaiden Black…you KNOW the master collection is garbage. Real Gaiden fans don’t debate this but if all you have is a PS then it will pass but it is far from the best way to experience the game. Weaker enemies and less of them on the screen from a system that is multiple times more powerful than the OG XBOX…yeah hard pass for me.

This is the first time I've played ninja gaiden and I absolutely loved it. 100s of hours of gameplay, and the combat!!! Wow!!! Just brilliant 💯👌

It was because Itagaki had a falling out with Team Ninja so they didn't want to use his games.

Ive never had any of physical media deteriorate thats just my personal experience ive been playing the same games and dvds for well over 20 years or much longer
I haven't played Black in 6 plus years. I just started Sigma Plus on Xbox One X and I already don't like the changes made to it.
I know this is a bit old but as someone who has never tried these games before, I loved the master collection and thought it was worth every penny I spent.
I can understand how long time fans would be upset about the versions chosen for 1 and 2.
Dude physical games dont break. They last forever n consoles do as well. Very easy to play retro games

@@curlyefrain9879 dude you took extremely bad care of them then. I don't have one xbox or ps2 or ps1 game that doesn't work perfectly. Even all my sega cd games work perfect the easiest to scratch n skip.

Started playing the Sigma games 3 days ago.
Beat Sigma 2 it's not good, has like 3 good QoL changes but alot worse.
Halfway through Sigma 1 and it's NO GOOD too.. bout to cut my loses and delete the game.

Even in Sigma 2 Irene's lace getup is supposed to be see thru but instead it shines with the strength of a thousand suns in Sigma, ridiculous how overused it is on the Sigma games.
Even in NG3RE they put more bloom in, ridiculous.

Master Collection really doesn't suck... just Sigma 2 suck. (but it's 95% fixed on PC).
Game discs at least DVDs are gonna last a long time. CD not so much, especially Sega CD and Saturn that’s famous for disc rot. It’s incredibly likely that your games will actually survive longer than the system itself. It’ll also last longer than carts too. Pretty soon, like in 5 years, Atari 2600 carts will be dying. DVDs will die eventually, but not as soon as this video may seem.
Makes me sad that a hack like Kojima’s games are treated like sacred deer yet when Itagaki voices disdain at his own pet projects being bastardized he gets treated like a quack.
I like Sigma 2 (Sigma 1 is awful however) but it’s definitely not on par with the original. I wouldn’t say “don’t play Sigma 2” but you should definitely experience the original if you want to say you’ve played Ninja Gaiden 2.
I’m kinder to Razor’s Edge than most but it shows Team Ninja’s lack of understanding for the series’ design philosophy. Trying too hard to be like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta instead of being itself. Very disappointing game.
They certainly don't suck, just not as good as the originals. Black and Sigma are close, you can argue for one or other potentially, to me though NG2 is just an objectively superior game to Sigma in almost every way from visuals to gameplay. That's not to say there aren't some things Sigma does better but they don't outweigh the things it does worse.

Tbh I don’t like the collection. I liked black cause of its costumes and the fact they have no stat increase but with sigma I gotta deal with stat increases. Then there’s sigma 2 they didn’t bother to remove the censorship and the original had a massive amount of enemies and a survival mode not only that but color schemes for costumes which they didn’t bother to put. So already a big amount of problems I’m also having to add the fact the sigma versions force u to play alternative characters to progress the story instead of making their playthroughs longer and separate. Then there’s another big issue ninja gaiden 3 re and sigma 2 won’t have their online features so already ur getting cut off on content more which is just a big no IMO
In Sigma 2, they tried to compensate by making it possible to switch between characters during those missions. For 3 RE, they gave all the enemies less health.

If you’ve ever played Ninja Gaiden Black…you KNOW the master collection is garbage. Real Gaiden fans don’t debate this but if all you have is a PS then it will pass but it is far from the best way to experience the game. Weaker enemies and less of them on the screen from a system that is multiple times more powerful than the OG XBOX…yeah hard pass for me.
"Garbage" is too extreme for such small differences. What is the point of being so exaggerated?
