Please, for the love of all humanity: Post Malone ft, Justin Hawkins "Chemical (Hot Leg remix)". You two would sound absolutely amazing together, and the melody is right in your pocket. Add some of the guitar you were talking about, high harmonies, and dancing together in the video! Please!!!
Hey Justin check out Post playing Nirvana/guitar! In his home on you tube. Wow!
Yay for you! Need some "ostinato" merch.
People will listen to anyone I question the music industry they will make anyone famous post Malone looks like a former prison convict which why is the music business so competitive and when I first saw him he looks like a prison convict and he can not sing his voice is completely auto tuned
@@christiancampbell6170watch his live performances and say its completely auto tuned still 😂. Every artist uses auto tune to some degree but I doubt Austin uses it much if at all.
I think Post Malone puts out so many different styles, they all kind of hit with different people. I can happily skip past the really auto tuned trap style songs etc, but some of his rockier stuff, or piano ballads when he’s being truly sincere are absolutely beautiful. I like him; he’s an intriguing artist and he does have an incredible voice.
What's style is this then? I'd call it Prap, i.e crap pop
He is a edgy junkie 😂 not a good role model. Smoking cigs, singing about oxys 😂 dude is basically a rich skid row rockstar

I absolutely LOVE Chemical.
Amazing melody lines between sweet and completely disharmonic notes.
What disharmonic notes? It's as square as a song can get
@@ignazioacerenza9881 sing the verse and play the bassnotes. Its a half note interval on the last note. Not harmonic in a common sense.
In my opinion Post malone is one of the most versatile artist around today, he delves into multiple genres and absolutely nails them he makes music everyone can enjoy.
& he's all heart , imo
Which heightens things.
Prolly because he was an emo kid who got told to kill himself daily because his jeans were too tight. Like all of the great musicians I know.
Went to his concert a couple days ago. I can tell you that you are 100% correct, from rock, pop, hip hop, singing, playing guitar, rapping, this guy put on a freakin show! One of the few artist that is this freaking balanced musically

"Stay" by Post Malone surprised the heck out of me, what a beautiful tune with beautiful guitars on it.
Did Justin explain why there's suddenly a giant cardboard cutout crotch that takes up half the background and forces him to play his guitar vertically and I just missed it?
It's David Hasselhof!

You very nearly said that you'd 'sound like Alan Partridge'. You often do, and that's a huge compliment. It's one of the things that attracts me to this channel.
If you turned on the radio and caught this without knowing who it was, you could easily mistake this for any number of other male pop artists.
Then your ear is bad. That voice is really special.
His songwriting and way to express feelings is unprecedented. I get that it's not for everybody. But the thing about Post is that he does what he wants and that is why i love him.
The way he uses a simplistic endlessly repeated chord sequence; sings a monotone 3 note melody employing banal lyrics makes him completely different to all the other corporate male artists. His use of A-Ha’s take on me drum feel makes him completely different, too.
You don't listen to enough music if you can't distinguish voices from each other. I do agree though, that most pop music is copy pasted from each other.
@@Herrgarret86 “unpresidented” has me in stitches. Thanks.
Nah you can clearly hear posty. His shakiness is easy to recognize

Ahh, explains why JH said Posts sounds "whet".
I like it because its genuinely a great, feel-good, song.
I agree with everything you said. I am still willing to take this opportunity to share my opinion on this song. After watching your video I came to the idea that post Malone had his tongue firmly in his cheek. maybe he came up with the poppy sounding lyrics and liked them and did it ironically. That explains his double thumb move, the clean guitars and vocals, the drums, and would probably be a lot of fun, boosting it's carmic chances of becoming a hit.
"Billowing-shirt-man on a hill counter melody" was such a lovely description. You're quite the wordsmith, Mr Hawkins.
Thanks so much James!
Spot on critique… loved Nirvana and Pearl Jam cover on Stern show. Just don’t get his own tracks but interviews and rock covers, he’s mesmerising
Hello!! I love how you corrected yourself with the oxy.. You are a good good man!!! (I didn't know as well ) I am enjoying your videos.

The guy is on an unbelievable run of hits and this is another one.
No he’s not. The man’s unbelievably talented and he wastes it on the wrong genre. Obviously he knows he’ll make more that way though.
@@Parker-iz7vwand what ‘genre’ is the one for him? Have you NOT seen his high school covers?
@@Parker-iz7vw I never thought I’d ever say this but god damn man cope harder.
This whole thing about Post Malone being in “the wrong genre” is toxic and needs to just die. Some people just don’t want to play rock music and prefer other things. People need to accept that and just move on.
@@blueorpheus5693 I'm of the same mind. He's outstanding in whatever he touches. He killed when he did some country covers, crushed it when he was doing a rap album, crossed over into pop/rap/rock, and just floats on back.
He plays what he likes and makes what he likes. I don't see why people take such an interest in hating what he puts out, especially considering what a grounded guy he is and how he interacts with people.
@@Parker-iz7vw not like it bothers me but you sound racist asf😂
I honestly don't think I would have made it through the covid nightmare without Posty. There's something magical about him. His music is not something I would typically like but he is like a unicorn especially in the US. He's extremely kind, sweet and down to earth. He's like a music fan that became famous without losing his soul. He actually has great taste in music too. He was in a metal band before he became famous. I'm hoping he gives us a heavy album eventually but I'm happy he's here spreading some kindness and smiles. He needs to be protected at all costs. It's such a rarity to have a non-divisive artist that just makes people smile these days. You two are actually kindred spirits. Sweet little pixies of love. ❤😂
Saw him open for Red Hot Chili Peppers here in Australia. He was amazing.
Absolutely could not have put it better myself.
I am so far outside of his “demo” that I shouldn’t even know his name yet I absolutely adore the lad. Admittedly the last 2 LPs have been well below what I expected of him by now but I’m just happy to let him do whatever he wants… just as long as he doesn’t move back to LA 😊
You haven't made it past the "covid nightmare. " It still rages. You govt and media have hidden it in plain sight because thru know how easy it is to manipulate (and kill) the public.

Brilliant summary. Post definitely has a duality to it.
He did a duet cover with Angus Stone at a performance in Australia and that is the Posty that is great.
Wish he would do more songs like that or rock or country. But the labels love the poppy sound.

Problem is most rock guys don't really listen to the lyrics unless the music is memorable so this would completely pass me by unnoticed.
The lyrics can be outstanding to read, but in a song music still is an important part.
i think rock guys do listen the lyrics or at least try to ( in my experience anyways ) the thing is if the music along with it is bland and un-interesting then why would you listen to the lyrics? or any of it for that matter, you want the full package of good meaningful lyrics and good musicianship. its not poetry afterall its music ( not that music cant be poetry but poetry on its own cant be music )
@@dainbramage3558 Yep, I think one of the few albums I've been blown away with the lyrics is Aqualung by Jethro Tull, but it was the music that got me interested and was a while later that I noticed the lyrics were so outstanding (bit of an oldie but worth a go if you've not heard it)

Andrew Watt, who you mention in the video, was in a band called California Breed with Glenn Hughes and Jason Bonham.
The vocals in this sound so highly processed it's unpleasant to my ear. IMO overall it's both overproduced and boring, which of course means it will show up on Billboard's & Spotify's Top 10 lists. Best thing I can say about this song is it made me go listen to Seven Nation Army again. Love your reactions, eagerly awaiting the Ren interview. ❤

I don’t think you should be so quick to write off the song, it serves its purpose tremendously well as what it is - dreampop
You wait for the whole song for something to happen, and it's just a set up for nothing else.
Yup. Sounds like a robot singing a song that goes nowhere and does nothing. It’s actually comical watching him lip sync along to sounds that don’t sound like they even originated from a human. @@kiddeggplant too much autotune gives robot effect. like cher in the 90s. but autotune can and is used subtly all the time. after producing a few songs, i hear it all the time. to the untrained ear it can go unnoticed. it is certainly audible in this song though
Quite a bit of autotune/pitch correction on his vocal. Becomes very obvious on the higher notes.
It’s like “boy band” music to me.
I didn't notice it, but currently most of pop singers use it!
Why can’t some people hear it, and we that do find it painful to hear?
@@SuziQ. sometimes it's easier to notice it, in reaggeton or others similar songs it is. But in this song i couldn't notice it. I agree that it's annoying.
@@SuziQ. Excellent question, and I will most likely get flak no matter how I answer it.
I think the short answer is people in general cannot tell the difference because there ears haven’t been trained.
My wife for instance, is a pianist with basic formal training. My band mates and I would get together at least once a week in my studio, close the door and jam. Apart from the drums, she didn’t have a clue what instrument was doing what (two guitars and a bass), until she saw it with her eyes, then figured it out.
Now you take Joe soap public, with no musical training, listening to artists who cannot play a musical instrument (sometimes sample from an old hit), or sing without digital correction/assistance, and I think you have a good part of the answer.
In my opinion, it also reflects how music has devolved over time (I sound like my father). We already have computers that write music and, now lyrics. Who knows if they aren’t singing already…
Anyone remember Milli Vanilli? Yeah, I’m getting old. What really irks me is that people are being sold short by “artists” who can’t do what they claim they can.
@@jimmcdougall9973 ,
That makes sense. I don’t know why you’d get flak for saying it.
I do think that part of the answer has to do with hearing perfect pitch, and realizing when something is off pitch, or artificially tuned. Somehow the ear can hear the wrongness in auto tune (or am I just old and rambling?).
We need an acoustic cover of this by Justin Hawkins now pls and thank you
I don't know his music but I do know he is very gracious to his fan during meeting them
Not normally my music style but like a lot of Post Malones stuff
Awesome guy, kind, talented. It’s a shame he’s making the music that he does because I genuinely think he’d be capable of making a banging rock n roll record. But if he’s happy, who are we to judge
Who are we to judge? We are literally the people who buy his records or buy tickets to his shows. We are the collectively the people who made him rich and famous: I'd say we are the exact people who should be judging him.
@@jiveassturkey8849 What?? Why should you judge if you don’t like it then don’t listen to it. That music is still there. You think if you pay to go see an artist play songs you like that means they should make music that like and if he doesn’t you bash him? And he is the one who created the music it’s not all on the fans like we made you guys famous and made you rich. He is the one who started it. It’s on him.

I'm glad he corrected himself on the "oxytocin" take lmao. I was like no way he goes on without fixing that 😂
Why is modern music like nails down a chalkboard?
I saw Posty open up for the Chili's recently. Before this I had only briefly flicked through the Nirvana tribute. But let me tell you, walking into that packed stadium to find Post on stage wearing boxer shorts and a ripped black t-shirt smoking a ciggy, was quite the first impression. He was singing acapella to 60,000, and seemed to have every single one of us entranced. Sadly it was his last song. It left me wanting more. PS, i hope you can find it in your big heart to incorporate "why don't the beautiful cry" into the upcoming tour. One of my favourites 👌Pinewood Smile is such a wonderful album ❤
Yeah Oxyanything is nuts. I had an outpatient surgery in March and they gave my just FIVE of them. I tried not to take them because I've never really used any kind of pain killers, even over the counter. I'm like, "I have a really high pain threshold." After four days I was like, OK, a lot of pain, gonna try the Oxy. They worked, but five of them (at the dosage size they had given me, which was small) were gone in two days. The next day I was irritable and felt like crap and at first I couldn't figure out why. When I thought to myself, I thought unrelated to feeling like crap, "wish they'd given me more than five Oxy", everything suddenly became extremely related. I was having withdrawals that made me want more after two days. That stuff is terrible.
Saw Post with the Chillis in Melbourne this year. He was really good. Great voice and really commited performer -)
