This is a very special song to me. It was playing on the radio as I was steaming down the road far too fast having been told my one day old son had been rushed into the SCBU. If you listen to the lyrics imagining new parents looking at - and unable to hold - their one day old child in an incubator hooked up to various medical monitors they take on a very different meaning: ‘I believe in a thing called love, just listen to the rhythm of my heart, there’s a chance we can make it now, we’ll be rocking’ til the sun goes down…’

I’m not usually into going to see live performances of bands that only perform covers, but the spins PMJ put on tracks make it *so* worthwhile. I’ve seen them multiple times, and try to go every time they tour near me.
My husband and I walked out of our wedding into our reception to this song... (the original version, not a cover) it will always have a special place in my heart!
We had this as our first dance song. Started with the Delta Goodrem cover and then went into the Darkness version to get it going. Our second date was a Darkness gig in Newcastle so seemed quite fitting for us. Been married 5 years now, so we “believe” 😀

Apart from yours the original, I loved the New Orleans style version. It also put me in mind of Amy Winehouse for some reason. She’d have covered it brilliantly . ❤
Wow! The second version just reveals your amazing songwriting! Only the greatest rock sings can slide between genres. You have so many songs this applies to!❤

Post Modern Jukebox, monsieur habitant. Their interpretation makes the song seem to belong to that era. Adorable! The joy you bring! Speaking of Darkness covers, there’s another, acapella, of just verse and chorus of Nobody Can See Me Cry by Alexandria Boddie that soars way above the clouds too!
When I was 15 years old, and taking guitar lessons. My teacher played I Believe in A Thing Called Love and his wife sang at a very local small-town gig. He played the entire ending guitar solo behind his back. It was EPIC. I'm now 35 and have been a fan ever since. You are such a lovely human, truly.
Wow! So many interesting interpretations. Confession: I became aware of The Darkness because I was asked to come up with an acoustic version forba wedding. In learning the song I became a fan. I vote for the New Orleans version but all were pretty remarkable. Cheers!
ohh loving some of these, gonna check a few of them out more :) Keep being awesome Justin! A thing called love is a very good day drunk song >< dont need to hit the high notes if you are drunk enough to believe you hit the high notes
I am flabbergasted. so I just found your channel (and hell, no idea if you'll ever get to read this comment) through searching for Maneskin's new song as they're my favourite band since their win in 2021 and I saw your reaction to it, clicked on it like you do on youtube you know. Liked it, decided to watch your other videos on them. I got an odd feeling that you were supposed to be known and I couldn't pinpoint on how/why/etc. Then you mentioned The Darkness in one of the videos and I thought it sounded familiar but couldn't really remember for sure. And so I see this and it fucking clicked! I remembered but not only that but you're wearing an Habs shirt, my hockey team from my city in Canada... something I wouldn't have expected whatsoever! So all this to say this has been a funny coincidence and made my day today haha. How cool that you're on youtube and talking about music. Have a good one!
Yeah. It's Post Modern Jukebox for me. Clear winner. I absolutely love it. Definitely the most creative interpretation, although mad props to the guy playing all four in the attic, wearing his wife's clothes while day drinking. Also very cool and fitting that Panic! at the Disco did it. Clearly some mad love and respect there. And the "octave-higher" girl: Wow! The vocal control at the top of her range! She had some real fun with it. Et, Les Habitants!
AGREED!!! That version was my favorite also. Just a beautiful interpretation. I love her attitude along with her brilliant voice. I also love watching your face react to seeing these performances. It’s a great face😊
My rock band back in college covered I believe In A Thing Called Love in 2007. Didn't win the talent show, but I nailed all 3 solos. Thanks so much for everything you do!
You mention about weddings, myself and my wife walked (more strutted) out of our ceremony to your original version. Such an exciting exit for us!! My vote is for the Postmodern jukebox version though
My first dance song at my wedding was I Believe In a Thing Called Love - Delta Goodrem blended with darkness version. It worked really well as it sounds like a nice slow song to get everyone up and then once they're on their feet it blended into the classic rock version we know and love and everyone had no choice but to stay up and keep dancing haha!
Imagine a song you wrote being interpreted in so many ways around the world. Justin is so humble but he surely must realise he is one the legends of our time.
My wife and I sang a duet cover of I Believe in a Thing Called Love to start our wedding. We met at Karaoke, and it seemed a far more appropriate start than the traditional wedding march...
Its brilliant that you are so positive about it all. Really shows class. I saw the band a few years back, The personality shines through on stage. Top shelf.
Post modern jukebox have some amazing covers, would be fascinating to see your take on some of their other stuff. Their cover of Creep is something to behold.
Never watched Justin's channel before, didn't realise what a cool and nice guy he is! I think my fav was 'day drunk in his wife's clothes" guy. Gotta respect the effort! All such interesting interpretations though
We considered having the Gareth Bush wedding version as the song we left our ceremony too, but after a lot of thought went 'screw it' and left to the original (and best).
Halocene have worked with Violet Orlandi a few times, always good. Post Modern Jukebox however, they always produce gold, their cover of the theme song for "Pinky and the Brain" is possibly the best thing they have done.
Man I love this channel. Didn't know how to take you at first, but once I knew you sang and played that wicked axe as well as you are the singer of "a thing called love" I'm in 100% aa well as I immediately subbed! I mean how could one not be a total fan? Love how you are phenomenally awesome yet you don't take yourself so seriously and I could sit and chat to a guy like you for hours. I love how royally English you are too man. The absolute best music always comes from across the pond. Always without a doubt! It must be so gloomy there that you Brit's just have nothing bloody better to do than crank out hit after bloody hit. So remember to stay great and Pip pip Cheerio, carry on my mate.
You know what's funny... Is I have been watching your yt videos for years now... And didn't even realize you were the singer/guitarist to one of my favorite bands lmfao. Good stuff
I can't believe it's been 20 years since that song came out. I remember when it did come out and how it captivated me, dont' remember how I discovered it but still listent to it today.
I've been a fan of PMJ for years, they always knock it out of the park and it is no different with " I believe in a thing called Love" they always get the best musicians and singers to do the covers and the arrangements are very clever too.

Cheers!
Glasgow Barrowlands, best music venue going.
I saw Elvis Costello amongst others there, FANtastic
It’s crazy how the same song can be so different and still works perfectly well. Sign of a good song. Just need a classical version to top it off
ohh loving some of these, gonna check a few of them out more :) Keep being awesome Justin!
I love how wholesome you are with your reactions. Just finding such great things about everything being done. You are so great.
I LOVE the 2nd version! She has a beautiful voice & the song is exciting how she sings it😍
This is great I wish more artists would review cover bands that cover their songs.😊love you man...
You know you have done something right when you get covered by Post Modern Jukebox. Great video Sir.
Postmodern Jukebox was definitely my favorite out of this selection, but I would have loved to have seen you react to the version by Scary Pockets!
Post Modern Jukebox are amazeballs! All their covers are spot on and unique. They also have my vote 🗳️
Wonderful story, it is something that never is going to happen to me, that a man fall in love with me after listening me to sing 😂
@@raquelsnt That's funny! 😁
@@sweetpandora2685 😀
Its brilliant that you are so positive about it all. Really shows class. I saw the band a few years back, The personality shines through on stage. Top shelf.
Postmodern Jukebox is awesome. One of my favourite UA-cam cover bands.
Post modern jukebox have some amazing covers, would be fascinating to see your take on some of their other stuff. Their cover of Creep is something to behold.
Justin just doesn’t fail to entertain
Dude, I didn't even know this channel existed. You're such a brilliant vocalist. I fucking love this song and so many others. \m/
Red headed woman is already my favorite! 😀I think she sent a secret message to my neighbor's dog 🙂
Sounds like a simp sentence xD
Never watched Justin's channel before, didn't realise what a cool and nice guy he is! I think my fav was 'day drunk in his wife's clothes" guy. Gotta respect the effort! All such interesting interpretations though
We considered having the Gareth Bush wedding version as the song we left our ceremony too, but after a lot of thought went 'screw it' and left to the original (and best).
Nice bush ?
Good choice, the other version was so generic and boring.
Dude love the jersey! I really enjoy when you are so open about people covering your music its refreshing to see.
Yup.... the most beautiful jersey in the world!!
Halocene have worked with Violet Orlandi a few times, always good.
Post Modern Jukebox however, they always produce gold, their cover of the theme song for "Pinky and the Brain" is possibly the best thing they have done.
PMJ are genius-level, their compositions are always SO tight & authentic.
One man band cover!! So creative, so much talent and skill to play all those instruments! Plus, the costumes!!
❤
So remember to stay great and Pip pip Cheerio, carry on my mate.
you should cover "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" with The Darkness.... I bet you could slay it and return the favor!
You know what's funny... Is I have been watching your yt videos for years now... And didn't even realize you were the singer/guitarist to one of my favorite bands lmfao. Good stuff
PMJ is fantastic and their version totally delivers! Genius!
Hey bro I just ran into your channel here on youtube. I didn't even know about The Darkness. I'm a singer of 30 years also played bass for 6. I'm now in a Pink Floyd tribute band called Fearless Floyd we play Casinos in way northern California. We live in a town called Redding. I just want to say I love The Darkness and love your videos. God bless you brother.
your alright by me man.
Long live the Floyd. 🤘
I love the second version. I am completely with you on that one. What an amazing interpretation of such a brilliant song. Love your band by the way. 😁😄
You are so much fun to watch as well as being a kick ass guitarist and singer!
Absolutely love Panic! At The Disco’s cover, Brendon was at his vocal peak 2011 - 2014 imo
