And people wonder why handmade pottery is pricey. And there’s no price tag for all the trials and errors along the way. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your creations, and all the learning along the way 🫶🥰. Scratches for Akela❤️
I'm so glad you decided to repair the broken pot. The Japanese art of Kintsugi uses lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum to repair broken ceramic pieces. I've always been in love with those pieces, I think sometimes even more so than the pristine, unbroken pieces. Lots of hard work and lots of learning for you but what a lovely result.
Back in the 70's there was a gathering of the ceramics departments from several of the local colleges. It was called "The Full Moon Raku", and what an event it was. We met up in the Sand Dunes at Pescadero Beach for a weekend of Raku, Pit firing, etc. I still have a few of the pieces I fired at that event. Those are both beautiful pieces, and the experience is part of the beauty.
The words of Bob Ross 'there are no mistakes, only happy accidents.' The pots are beautiful and unique just like you😍. You are so talented and an inspiration. Thank you!
I teach sculpture and of the lessons I try to impart over and over is that materials will speak to you and tell you what they will do and what they won’t. So cool seeing you demonstrate that mindset by literally talking to your pots on the wheel! ❤
I mean honestly, Linnea, is there anything you cannot do? I love how you find beauty and joy in the process of everything you do. So simple and satisfying to watch.
Linnea, this is how well known and successful artists are born. I predict that you will be a well known artist and people will be seeking out your pieces! They are beautiful! Good job!
When I was a kiddo digging in the mud I loved making pinch pots from the clay in the yard and baking them in the fire place. so cool that this is an actual think to do as an adult!
This was amazing to watch. Your process, letting the clay become what it wants- it’s all so intuitive! Love the finished pieces and I look forward to seeing what you create next!
The clay pots came out beautifully! The coloring and I love the addition of the turquoise and the rope - that you made with your own hands!!! Lessons learned! You won't make that mistake again unless you do it intentionally! Use horse hair on the pot in your firing to add another element. I noticed that the inside of the container had been painted or at least a primer had been painted on. You have come so far!!! Nice to see Noah there to help you!
Linnea, you rock! I love your UA-cam channel. Why? You are fearless, tenacious, mostly so happy, in other words a delight to watch. Love how you treat your Mom, Chris and dogs. So respectful and kind. I’m in the winter of my life. Watch your weekly vlog makes my day. Sit and knit hats for Calgary women’s shelter and remember my youth.

My mom has worked with clay for many years, making large wall murals. We all know when something has cracked because she has always added beads to the cracked pieces. It’s rather a family joke that when so,etching isn’t going as planned, just add beads!! Your two pots are simply amazing. Truly the most beautiful pots I’ve ever seen!!
I think since living your life since you bought that land , has given you so much patience and you don’t let things get to you as much , that’s what I have noticed about you my dear , see how your life has given you all these ideas some new to me to see, and I know hat these changes are giving you more to read about how you do things , sorry your pots cracked, but at least you now know what to do the next time you make them love watching your fantastic videos ❤❤❤

It is so great that you love your creations and find ways to save them. You're not a perfectionist in the normal sense. You're able to bring out the beauty of the imperfections. These pieces are like your children. You don't give up on them. You help them to be the best they can be. ❤
OH!! I loved doing this in highschool (whoa almost 40 yrs ago) After creating our piece and allowing it to dry, we surrounded it with newspaper and put it in a coffee can. Coffee can or any vessel large enough to hold it and allow air flow. After it was placed in the can, light the paper. Allow it to burn out and it leaves a beautiful pattern. Then fire it!
Im always amazed by you and what you can accomplish. Great job...and how cool to hang out on your property in a chair doing the things you love with that view. Be safe. Be happy. Be free.
Love watching you make pots. I was so into the process when I was in my thirties. I had a creek near my house and I used wild clay for all my dishes and pots. They are still being used 25yrs later. Love your style of throwing. So relaxing to watch...and what a back drop!
Cool to see this process. The best part of this is how genuine you are. Honest. The triumphs, the mistakes. And just real honest experience. Best thing I've seen in a while, thanks.
Turquoise kintsugi --very unique and so beautiful. They are both fabulous with so much love and care and heart story behind them. Thank you for taking us through the whole process, very informative and helpful!
I know it didn’t go as planned. But one of my favorite sayings is, “everything happens for a reason” and I truly think they cracked so they could become even more beautiful and unique. Much like ourselves. Sometimes we crack so we can repair and become even more beautiful and unique in our own way. 💛🌾
I think that you and I, on a certain level are kindred spirits. I had a very hard life, and I am considerably older than you, likely three or so decades over than you, but I have as much passion about the things you are doing as you do. my life has been a battlefield of betrayal, disappointment, and failure, and after I developed an autoimmune disorder that forced me to undergo a liver transplant, I discovered Pottery. And my soul rejoiced. How could something so ancient, so traditional, so artistic and so primal have so much allure over me. I knew I was an artistic person, having been an oil painter when I was your age so long ago, but when I discovered pottery a ancient level artform caused my mind to bloom fields of wildflowers and angels sang for me. Saying I fell in love with it is an understatement of galactic proportions. I attended a class run by a potter of 40 years, who was an employee of A local pottery company that no longer exists but has a massive following of people who clamber over each other to collect old pieces of commercial pottery made long ago. So needless to say I valued his teaching immensely and then reality set in. I am old. I am also very poor, living on a disability income that barely affords me the opportunity to have enough of the basics in my life, and then there is the elephant in the room...I am Disabled and suffer heavily from a restricted range of motion and such poor health that the dream of ever becoming a potter who could make and sell their own works to the public is something that will NEVER happen. I even collected electrical components so I could build myself a pottery wheel that would make even the most well-established pottery drool with envy. with the kind of over-engineered pottery wheel I could build, I would be able to throw pots big enough to bury people in. But the reality is, I live in an apartment, have no capital to properly build a set up in a short enough of time that would make it worthwhile to even bother as my heath only continues to degrade, and the final arrow though my artistic heart, is that I have such limited skill in the artform that I doubt very much I could even get people to lok at my stuff let alone buy it. Why Am I telling you this? Because I see in you, the passion I had when I was young, and you stir those old feelings in me when I see where you have bought land, near the mountains, which is my most beloved place to be, out in the countryside where so much beauty abounds in almost everything you lay eyes on, and, you have your whole life ahead of you!!! You Are young, have talent and most importantly passion for Artistry like few others I see on UA-cam. I want to tell you to grab hold onto your dream to be the best potter you can be, explore and learn and never stop learning. I can stand as an example of that, I learn as much as I can every day and I cannot get enough of it, so please focus on your dream, and make it happen! never let anyone stand in your way and let your loved ones be your pillars when you need them. make your name a powerhouse among artists in your chosen media and make it unique to you. I wish you all the best, all the success I wish I had had from a young age, and I will be silently watching your journey from my computer desk as long as you allow others to see in through your UA-cam Videos! Perhaps even one day I might be able to but a piece from you and be able to cherish it for what remains of my life, and perhaps pass that on to my children, if they so desire to follow in my passions. thank you for being willing to share your path of discovery with us all, and I hope you can find all kinds of ways to express yourself through your art! It is so fun to watch you throw and create beautiful art in the wild. When coning down try pushing the clay down and away from you. It uses the momentum and will cone down beautifully. & ignore me if you are already doing that, it's hard to tell from the angle of the camera lol You can add all sorts of crazy things for variations like dried animal scat. Dog, bird, moose, bear- a great way to add a special touch to your wild clay pieces.

Well young lady.. I have been a ceramicist, for over 30 years.. An I think you did an absolutely fantastic job.. Both of your pieces are absolutely beautiful.. So you should be very very proud of yourself.. ❤🎉
Its amazing!!!! That was so un watching you create the pots, listening to sweet tunes! So incredibly inspiring, thank you! And great seeing your brother helping you the homestead!
I am impressed with how you maintain a single minded focus of your end result image. Even though you are constantly adjusting through out the process. In the end there will be the results, and it will possess it's unique characteristics. They are not flaws, they are features. I was watching an Andy Ward's Ancient Pottery video where he was doing a pit firing. His pots cracked and I think actually exploded. He does a lot of his firing out in the desert around Phoenix, Arizona. He watched his video of the firing and decided that putting his pots on the bear ground around the fire to warm allowed them to absorb just enough moisture to damage his pots. So now he tries to set them on a rock or a pot shard. There is always more clay, I hope you will be able to sell some of your very unique pottery in the future, cheers.
You are right they are beautiful! So satisfying to see the results after so many hours of work. Love my earthy colors and earthy items! I like how you made the cracks even more beautiful than if it wasn’t cracked kind of like a God does our lives. We mess them up here and there and he put them back together so much stronger and more beautiful than if we hadn’t messed them up. It’s a good lesson. Thanks for sharing it.
lovely. So funny that I was impressed by your sophisticated usage of words when you said "absorbing"...... while you revealed what the reality was at the end of the video.

I'm enjoying the videos from your land. You're doing a great job, kiddo. A while back you mentioned, while making coffee in your van, something about perfecting the "4 minute pour". I think of you briefly with a smile each day while I do my sub one minute pour over.
I don’t think I’ve sat at the edge of my seat harder (? 🤔) than waiting to see how these pieces turned out after firing. 😬😬 Wounded soldiers sacrificed but not in vain. The burnishing is beautiful and creates stunning pieces! ❤ And Akela makes it into the blooper reel!!
Ok just finished watching holy sh!@ girl I got chills at the finished art pieces!!! The clay from Montana as a remembrance of your time their, the cording, the colors the lessons learned, wow! Bloopers with Akela’s paw “helping” made me belly laugh out loud❤❤Anna
My dearest Linnea ❤❤❤ per usual being the absolute most talented young lady that you are, can say how much I've enjoyed watching you evolve over the years into this master craft woman. These are stunning work of art, you go girl. Thanks for sharing 😊
WOW! You have soooo much patience. And it surely paid off…..both pots are so unique and beautiful…..love them! Thanks so much for sharing this process….it was so interesting
Enjoyed yet another video of yours. Burnishing was done by the Greeks and anything they did, the Roman's would do. They used Terra sigillata for some of theit fine red (Terracotta clay) pottery with glossy surface. If you translate terra sigillata it simply means 'sealed earth'. They would apply as much as three layers of this and burnish it. Terra sigillata is basically the finest of the finest clay slip, and the sealing of the pot by burnishing is actually aligning all the clay particles flat. I'm looking at your wheel and don't notice a well. I was going to suggest wetting your pot as you throw it - wet it with slurry. It stops the pot becoming too wet and becoming weak. You can make your own well from wood and line it with lead or something you prefer. Love the whole concept of what you are doing. Burnishing can be started on the wheel, but as you dont like trimming on the wheel, you probably wouldn't enjoy it. You are a very creative person, working with what you have. A suggestion is that some cracked pots could be sculpted. Vases don't have to hold water. If it doesn't work, you still have clay to be reprocessed. I do prefer slow drying times like yourself, but when it's done commercially, you Also then need a lot of space. Some of your designs are very challenging for the clay to hold its shape- hence they collapse. I think we have all there. You can overcome this by using too much clay a trimming when leather hard, or throw in two pieces. Your office space probably makes most of us jealous in a good way. I like how in a sense, you are bringing back centuries old techniques. Some old potters would take clay from anywhere and they would literally take it from a trackway. Times were tough and potters couldn't afford to buy clay, so they dug holes in the road and stole it. The next day, wagons would be just about wrecked and the coachman would cursed the Potters and their potholes.
Wow, these pieces turned out so beautiful! Thanks for walking us through your process. Both informative and fascinating to watch your skills increase and your creative flow!
Thanks for taking us through the process Linnea, I have always wanted to try working with wild clay! Your pieces turned out fabulous and the ‘mistakes’ just make them that much more unique! ❤️✨

I know it takes alot of work to edit your videos but I would be sooo excited to maybe once in awhile see an hour long video. ❤❤ I still love watching you all and I hope the four of you stay safe and keeping enjoying life and the beautiful piece of land you have!! Also your so creative in everything you do in life and I’m so sure that your father is looking down at you saying saying to himself he has an amazing creative daughter who works so hard in building her beautiful life she is creating on gods land. Your whole family must be extremely proud of you. Each of you and your siblings are so amazing in your own ways and I’m sure your mom is proud of you all!! ❤❤❤ would love to see more family videos of all of you doing so much fun things on your property. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
wow I think the cracks make it even better I mean look at what you made with your own 2 hands AMAZING great job xx
Wow! You are truly one talented and inspiring artist and you never give up. Your brother made an amazing fire pit and tables from scrap. Your parents must be proud of you both. Thank you for sharing. I learned a lot.
Those pots turned out beautiful!! I especially love the one with the rope/cordage wrapped around the top, absolutely amazing. ❤
Beauty was the outcome. They have such character kind of like it was all done on purpose! Success I say. Thanks for letting us watch the process. See you next time. Nice to see your brother too.
Perfectly imperfect. This video was so fascinating.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well young lady.. I have been a ceramicist, for over 30 years.. An I think you did an absolutely fantastic job.. Both of your pieces are absolutely beautiful.. So you should be very very proud of yourself.. ❤🎉
Wow that's a huge compliment from such a professional - thank you so much!
Golden! :) I am so impressed you are doing this all while living on the land in your tiny home van. You are genuinely awesome.
So grateful for the Akela content at the end! Especially the paws in the temper material!
😊
I love collage. I love how you used found pieces to create beauty. I see beauty from ashes.
Nice work Linnea! You are very talented,I just love watching what you are creating next!
I love working with Clay, how fun, good for you ... AWESOME, Nice Work .
Thank you!
Its amazing!!!! That was so un watching you create the pots, listening to sweet tunes! So incredibly inspiring, thank you! And great seeing your brother helping you the homestead!
Beautiful pots. Practice leads to perfection. But those pots have a story.
Your doctoring of your cracked pots was genius! Excellent results.
Thank you!
These pieces are absolutely gorgeous. I especially love the piece you fixed with the blue material in between the cracks. Friggen gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Those pots are absolutely beautiful !!
Thank you!
What extraordinary LOVE and CARE you are investing in these pieces of ARTISTRY! WONDERFUL and Inspiring to watch! Love your channel! (Boston MA)
Your pottery creations are the most beautifully gorgeous inventions that I have ever seen!!!! HANDS 🙌 DOWN. KEEP IT UP BEAUTIFUL LADY ❤
Thank you so much! :)
This is beautiful. A real live wire personality. Very cool.
I think I need a lie down. Not from boredom, just because this video totally relaxed me! Hurry next Sunday!
Aw I'm so glad to hear that!

They are perfect, because we are all cracked pots and more beautiful for it.❤
You've inspired me to buy some pottery equipment when I get my own land. Your pottery turned out beautifully.
How exciting!
Your studio is amazing out in the fresh air and the views behind you are stunning so enjoy your day of using your potters wheel 👍
10/10 the end was the best😂 big paws on that guy
Love how you go with the flow and turn mistakes into unexpected unique touch and beauty. Very cool!
Thank you!
i find it amazing how glued i become to your content, even on content that i have no interest in.
Aw that's really nice of you. :) Glad you're enjoying it!
My dearest Linnea ❤❤❤ per usual being the absolute most talented young lady that you are, can say how much I've enjoyed watching you evolve over the years into this master craft woman. These are stunning work of art, you go girl. Thanks for sharing 😊
The colors on the faceted pot turned out amazing! And the other pot with the turquoise kintsugi was such a creative idea and beautiful too.👏👏👏
Thank you! :)
Linnea, those pots are literally AMAZING 🎉🎉

Thank you for showing this!!! I've always wanted to try this, and the idea of making it with clay from places I visit is awesome
Build a soda kiln!!!! The surfaces you can accomplish with soda and glazes are addicting and so so so beautiful
You have such a feeling and understanding for creating with organic materials. You really listen to them
So fascinating to watch you make those pots and troubleshoot the cracking. Impressive! I love your solution with the turquoise.
