    Dave, I truly applaud you for sharing these repairs and updates from a real world example and expectations. Working on a creeper, not a lift, rusted washers or welded bolts when they are not factory welded. Many have never seen a caged or captured nut even though this was a common design practice. Plus tips lifting one side at a time. Just super tips of the more experienced to make their job go well. Thanks Dave!

    My first ever build was a '66 Mercury Comet and it took 3 yrs to finish whilst figuring stuff out on my own. I'd never done body work or paint until then. I started my new project last week, a 2wd '71 GMC wideside. Your videos have already made my life easier and this project will go much faster. Thanks for the videos.

    Just did this on my 71 K5 Blazer. The front radiator support ones are the hardest. Get all the rusty bolts off the inner fender and drop it down so I can get my hands in there. Should have took the radiator out would have been a lot easier. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Awesome video. The blazers a little different setup but the same principle. Thanks again

    I just did a long comment to a couple of guys about cab mount bushing install. Just if all you are wondering how and why I think I know so much is here is why; started 1967-1972 Chevy/GMC 4X4 truck restoration back in 1979. We've (our shop) done just under 400 of these units. Buying, selling and body-off-frame restoring and engine building. Back to the cab mounts my advice is very simple and clear cut ----do not under any circumstance use anything with the word POLY. My experience with that nasty word was with Energy Suspension company and it's cab bushing kit for 1972 Chevy truck. The composite component is so damn hard and unforgiving that nothing in the truck lined up. Body lines were off, doors wouldn't shut, fender hit the door, and everything --even the damn tailgate hardware jiggled and rattled. We had to take everything out and order out on ebay a stock OEM ---RUBBER---and that's the key word--Rubber-- because of it's ability to let the mount flex and move --the poly was like we put in steel blocks instead. That was our experience. Thx. Jim

    This looks great. I changed my cab mounts 2 years ago. I needed to tighten them today and the right side (Cab rear) tightened fine but the left side is just spinning. I think the cage nut isn't caged any longer. The gas tank is in the way so I can't see the nut. Any advice on getting a wrench behind the gas tank to hold it while I tighten from under the cab? I purchased the kit from Brothers Truck and they sent me one wrong part but quickly sent the correct one. Brothers has been very helpful in my project. Thank you.

    My bushings are due in any day now. My question is the rear bolts.... Do you have to move the seat and or gas tank to get to them? I guess I will find out the hard way.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV

      We normaly use Rustmort or Rust Reformer amd then paint it with a good enamel paint. We don't have a video on cleaning up the frame.

    Perhaps you can do a video on dual fuel tanks? I have a 68 c20 with a dual tanks but it is not connected to the switching unit under the floor boards. It was not a manual switch over, but an electric one. I would like to get it working, and if possible hooked the the fuel gauge or have a separate gauge? All 4 of my dualies had twin tanks - 3 were automatic the oldest one had a switch on the dash to check the levels in each tank. Thanks I need to replace the cab mount bushings - they are shot, so this video will be helpful

    Can anyone recommend an installer for the body mounts in the Northern CA area, San Jose, or anywhere semi close? Don’t think i would have much success on my own.

    • @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
      @BROTHERSTruckPartsTV  3 роки тому

      We don;t have an installer to recommend, but if you have a floor jack and basic hand tools you can probably get this done in a few hours yourself.
