Yes true. But I feel the masses have been conditioned and queued to laugh at joe rogan also. I agree his timing and punches are sometimes good with this comedy but overall I feel these two mechanic he's got a lot of friends and he takes an approach like he does with MMA and it just doesn't come off as funny to me but I think that people are conditioned to laugh at him because it's like the buddy that you know because he's all around now
I ain't ashamed to say this conversation made me tear up. I love it when people can have conversations like this, where one person actually LISTENS to the other and acknowledges they were wrong. Good on Joe for having the courage as a friend to confront Brandon about this, and good on Brandon for having the intelligence, maturity and self awareness to realize what Joe told him was right and for his own good.
Then the sequel "That's My Brend'n Butter" which would be a cribs style show where he shows us things he's into and he has the catch-phrase written on his shirt
Definitely. Alot of people give him tons of shit for his stand up career. I personally think he's pretty funny. He's not the best when it comes to stand up but he's pretty funny on his podcasts that he does.
There is a certain brotherly love that radiates through this video that is infectious. You can tell the way Joe’s voice wavers at moments that he genuinely cares about this dude.
@Kennedy Sage he says why. Didn’t think Brendan would be nearly as receptive if he simply sat him down and had the talk. It’s not like joe is hurting for content, or views. He can talk about monkeys as much as he wants, and people still tune in.
Its mature of him to admit that it was dickish because it was in front of the entire world to watch. Not because he said it, but because it wasnt just said in confidence. In saying that though, Joe- and every sane person in the world- knows that shaubs dumb self would have NEVER listened unless he was blasted in a setting like that. Props to joe for not only knowing that he was the one who had to say it, then saying it, and then acknowledging how it was also harsh way to do it. That's true friendship.
Schaub gives me hope, seeing him give up his dream of fighting and find new success on tfatk and in comedy just inspires me. He's not a bad comic, and I wish more people gave him a chance rather than just mock him based on what gets thrown around online.
I can relate, not at all a fan of his comic. But to adapt to other things and being succesful. This is alot healthier, he gets to do things he really likes and also be connected with fighters i wish i could spoke. Gotta hand it to him, must be a major dissapointment to not get the jellybeans out of fighting and quit. But this can be an inspiration for alot of people. Dealing with dissapointment and make the most out of your life anyhow.
@Seymour Cox Dude what are you on about? I'm sure his intention was for his friend not to end up with permanent brain damage. The entire point of it was that Brendan would get seriously hurt if he kept going and that's a valid point.
Whys that? I've seen heavyweight pro kickboxing fights live. One time the guy was KO'd before he hit the ground from a massive hook. Females in the crowd screamed like he was dead or something. Truly horrific. Now make it a UFC fight with tiny gloves. Pass.
My dad always told me, "The man in the mirror is the last one to know." I think that's the case here. Brendan needed Joe to give it to him, no bs, and he did. I think he's better off now and he seems to be enjoying life better.
UFC wont be the same without Joe Rogan. I learnt alot about fight styles just by listening to him. No one breaks down technicality of fights better than him. Good for Brendan for taking solid advice from Joe.

A lot of us non fighters too
the thing is alot of these fighters dont have much to fall back on. its either be an average or below average fighter or work a shitty 14 dollar an hour job. The ones like shane carwin, or rich franklin who have upper level jobs to fall back on are the lucky ones.

Joe telling him to stop wasn't dickish at all. It was extremely real, one of the best moments in podcasting history.
