It was literally joyous to see Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey and all the other comics totally fascinated to see what was coming next in his e-mails. This gave me the feeling that his humour is completely unprecedented in British comedy and _that_ is genuinely priceless.

Then THEY sent it for error and expected him to buy something he didn't ask for (as if he needed a second) or to pay again for the delivery price needed to send it back. At that point he could have almost bought a second bowl with all the delivery fees he would have paid. His joke aside he did say that he would return it to the shop if the delivery cost was repayed back. I think the owner refused because he thought the guy wanted to scam them the delivery money and not return the bowl, which is understandable because if he wanted to keep it there would have been no proof that the bowl he had wasn't the one he paid for online and involving lawyers for a bowl would be ridicoulous and more expensive compared to a single bowl.
Joe reminds me of my Mother. She wrote some pretty choice letters to companies over various issues. The most famous was when she wrote to Tampax over an issue with some tampons she had bought where each one failed to contain the requisite string. Her letter included the line (paraphrasing as my memory is not that damn good :-) ) "I have recently tried your cordless model and have found it wanting. Please provide a similar box to the one I have bought in recompense." Tampax sent my Mom 10 boxes in recompense along with a very nice letter. Sometimes, providing ingenious feedback pays off. In the UK we refer to "Easter" as the entire holiday that covers both Good Friday and Easter Sunday. When Joe says Easter he means the holiday celebrated in general and not specifically Easter Sunday.

However, the names and content have been made up or exaggerated. He wouldn't be allowed to read out those things without the other person's permission and I doubt they would be as funny as he makes them.
