Back in the the when her albums were released i used to go to Sam goody, and have them order the albums from which I saw her credit samples in the liner notes of each cassette tape. I actually enjoyed every one of them and learned more songs by each of those artists. The Tom Tom Club album was my favorite discovery and I still enjoy it revisiting it. Although on the Emotions album on the credits on ‘can’t let go’ there was nothing listed and she was sued for not giving credit to the song which was not Keith sweat. I can’t remember what it was, but it was definitely not the song she use for her make it last remix years and years later. But nowadays people say she use that sample for both.
Great use of sampling. Girl really loves her 70s and 80s Soul/Funk/R&B and 90s Hip-Hop. The couple of samples that really surprised me were the Bring Me the Horizon song and Rod Stewart song (all this time I never even connected Subtle Invitation to DYTIS because it's quite a hidden interpolation thanks to the completely different melody). Also, I didn't notice Aretha is in It's A Wrap because she's pitched.

I don’t think a lot of people appreciate the artistry of sampling. It’s not an easy or lazy way of making music it takes musicality. She does come up with melodies and lyrics and then expands them with samples, it’s an art form.
I can’t believe... Tones of instrumentals purely imported by her! I’m sure she payed the rights, still I’m shocked because all this time I thought her music is 100 % original. All of these are excellent usage of sampling (maybe even stealing lol). But Mariah has many 100% original compositions like "Vision Of Love, Love Takes Time, I Don't Wanna Cry, Vanishing, Alone In Love, If It's Over, Anytime You Need A Friend, Music Box, Everything Fades Away, All I Want For Christmas Is You, One Sweet Day, Forever, Melt Away, Butterfly, My All" etc...etc... She didn’t sample too many songs :) artists sample songs. Some of the most iconic songs, like songs by the Isley brothers are sampled over and over. Her sampling productions do not discredit her song writing credits. She writes her music. She samples what was produced. Not what was written ☺️

You forgot “Secret Lovers” by Atlantic Star. She samples this song in her song called “Secret Love.” I hope I am not taking anything away from this video, I just noticed the aforementioned song wasn’t included. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to see how many songs she sampled. I consider myself a lamb but had no idea.

There's a video out there I believe that's already done that, don't know if it has all of her samples though, there are some songs that just mention Mariah's name as well.
The more you learn about Mariah as an artist, the more you learn that she is such a student of music, which is why she could be so brilliant as a producer, cross-genre innovator, and masterful songwriter. Great video!

She follows every single process related to the makings of her music and overworks to make sure everything comes out perfect

Yes it definitely is a sample; hence the reason she was sued and lost. The credits don’t make it official. Half of what you have on here don’t have credits lol. Eg You said “Make It Happen” sampled “I want to thank you” which is true, although Kevin McCord (who sued them n won) isn’t credited on Make it happen. Why don’t u do the same for “Best of my love”? I don’t think a lot of people appreciate the artistry of sampling. It’s not an easy or lazy way of making music it takes musicality. She does come up with melodies and lyrics and then expands them with samples, it’s an art form.
The Magic Flute Overture is one such example, and Mozart didn't credit the original or pay Clementi

Mariah always credited these samples. In addition, it includes a few extracts from each of the original songs. I admit, however, that the list is a bit long.

Randon Lambert no a sample is a sample from a song already made and etc and a featuring artist sings or raps more than a verse (I think but I know that sampling and featured artists are different).

All of these are excellent usage of sampling (maybe even stealing lol). But Mariah has many 100% original compositions like "Vision Of Love, Love Takes Time, I Don't Wanna Cry, Vanishing, Alone In Love, If It's Over, Anytime You Need A Friend, Music Box, Everything Fades Away, All I Want For Christmas Is You, One Sweet Day, Forever, Melt Away, Butterfly, My All" etc...etc... So, she's not just a sampler/melody-beat steala! lmfao. But most artists from her generation and on samples a lot tbh. Especially, the pop/hip hop artists.
This is what separates the Stevie Wonder's & Prince's from the Madonna's, Mariah's & other musicians. You have the musical geniuses and then you have the interpreting geniuses who are also VERY talented.

She didn’t sample too many songs :) artists sample songs. Some of the most iconic songs, like songs by the Isley brothers are sampled over and over.
Her sampling productions do not discredit her song writing credits. She writes her music. She samples what was produced. Not what was written ☺️
