At least he's not attempting Fire Emblem Three Houses - 90 hours for one playthrough, when there are FOUR, and if you wanted to see absolutely everything you'd need like. 10 playthoughs for the conversations between enemy and ally units when you've recruited one person from a faction and not the other. Best Farcry game and my favorite farcry game! I'm glad you completed this. I never completed this game because I don't feel like it was worth it. The story alone was good enough for me. I'd finish it.
I have to disagree about Jason honestly I thought the duality with him and vaas was amazing. He's a really well written character for me since he completely drives away from being the innocent rich party dude traveling the world having fun with his friends having no real direction in life. But then when the events of the game happen he has a simple goal to which is to save his friends and kill vaas and escape the island. That all changes he becomes more of a skilled warrior and loves killing and develops a god complex because he believes he is unstoppable and can do what ever he wants on the island. That all seems believable to me. This also plays into the gameplay as in the more Jason drives away from his morality and starts to love killing more and more it allows to become a more skilled warrior unlock all the new skills and abilities he learns thats really cool imo. But hey thats just me.
i feel like if vaas lived much longer he wouldve gotten stale, even of what he is in the game hes more of a representation of terror, you dont see him much but you know hes there and when you do see him hes always intimidating the piss outta you
Never saw the first video on this but and never happy with this upload, far cry 3 is my favourite of the far cry series and is the one that introduced me to the series. Most definitely one of my favourite fps games
the fact that he 100%s these games (if not complete than close) is bonkers to me. i dont really beat games anymore unless i really like them, i play until im bored and get back into it later. sometimes playing games feels like work. he must really love games and his fans & i appreciate that.
Far Cry 3 was just as influential to the 2010s era of video games as Skyrim, but rarely ever gets that credit consistently, when compared to how Skyrim is seen as a hallmark milestone that changed RPGs going forward -- but Far Cry 3 not only changed Open World FPS going forward, it literally created the momentum that caused countless franchises and developers to leave the level-based linear structure behind, and try their hand at a Far Cry 3 style OWFPS instead. Some quick examples that come to mind would be Homefront leading into the OWFPS Homefront: Revolution, Metal Gear Solid 5's open world and RPG/crafting elements were directly inspired by the heatwave of OWFPS that FC3 had unleashed in the West, and it was that wave of games that was the catalyst for Kojima to want to try an openworld MGS with light crafting/upgrading etc. Legend of Zelda's devs even listed Far Cry along with Skyrim as inspirational games during the making of BotW. It also inspired entirely new franches and IPs, Dying Light being a major one, and the direct influence and the game loop that takes place is found in all of them -- that gameplay loop was defined and set in stone as a standard to deviate from, for the next decade, by Far Cry 3. It's true that FC3 had many influences that went into making it as well, MMO games like WoW for crafting, counting on players to understand the system based on the popularity of Minecraft at the time -- etc, etc --- but the same can be said for any piece of art anywhere. What FC3 did to gaming is still rippling through the industry to this day with a direct effect, just like Skyrim is, but Far Cry 3 is remembered moreso as just a great game to play, from what I've seen -- it deserves just as much credit for influencing gaming in the 2010s as Skyrim does IMO.
"Worse than malaria" is a reference to the much maligned malaria mechanic from Far Cry 2. Malaria attacks were on a timer and the timer would be accelerated by a few minutes whenever you entered combat so whenever you start picking off an outpost or safehouse or an objective location you'd get a malaria attack. Even worse it'd happen when you got chased by the AI on vehicle patrols that magically were always faster than you.
Far Cry 3 is still one of my favorite video games of all time. I agree some of the friends pale in comparison to Vaas. Hes the Heath Ledgers Joker of this game. And Far Cry Blood Dragon is an awesome DLC to it. I love going back and replaying it, it always feels fun
For me, after playing through the game myself after watching Jesse Cox play it, I feel the story would have been better if they had switched the timing of Vaas and Hoyt dying. Hoyt gets killed halfway through, and Vaas struggles to maintain order and composure to try and rule the islands without Hoyt pulling his strings. I think that'd have made for a better storyline.
also having a major choice in the game being siding with Vaas or Citra. Given how she's not exactly the nicest person herself, it could have made for some epic character beats & interesting story twists.... I mean ffs the 2 endings just come down to choosing between saving your friends & leaving Rook Island and killing your friends only to get murdered mid-coitus....like wtf.....
@@newageBoundhippie I honestly don't think there's any way Jason would have conceivably sided with Vaas, at least willingly. The death of Grant and assumed death of Riley play a big part in his homocidal friend-ditching girlfriend-dumping douchiness.
@@KingChayle87 true, but had they done more with Citra there could have been some added nuance and a better twist in the story that could at least theoretically cause Jason to choose Vaas over Citra. Such a shift would have also played into the whole "definition of insanity" aspect as deciding to side with Vaas would be doing something different rather than essentially repeating the same things hoping for a different outcome while also showing how Jason has descended into the same insanity as Vaas.
Far Cry 3 is a timeless masterpiece. On its surface it’s another rescue FPS. But once you start playing, you start going down the same rabbit hole Jason falls into. In the time I’ve played it, I’ve noticed there other important themes: Insanity, addiction, and manipulation. As it was portrayed in Alice in Wonderland, everything was mad, or irrational, even Alice. Both Jason and Alice deny those however and both begin to indulge in the fact they’re the only ones who are in control of their environment. Jason does this by capturing outposts, killing pirates, and taking drugs. Which leads to the theme of addiction. Far Cry 3 is a game self aware, meant to draw in the player. The Rook Islands are said to be a place where you can do anything, much like a video game world. Buck even says, “I’m not playing the bloody game, you are. I’m just a spectator.” Under the influence of drugs, killing, and rituals, he seemingly becomes stronger, and thus becomes addicted to his role as savior of the islands. Of course, he was also easy for Citra and the Rakyat to manipulate. Dennis tells Jason he is special because he was given the Tatau. Citra lures Jason into the promise of power and glory for exacting his revenge of Vaas, and killing Hoyt in the name of the Rakyat. By the end of it all, Jason has become the perfect killing machine, just as Citra and the Rakyat intended. Thus you are left with a choice; save your friends, leave the island, and return to society from whence you came, or kill your friends (cutting you off from the last remnants of society), stay with Citra and let the insanity of the islands consume you entirely. Vaas said to Jason that insanity was doing the exact same thing over and over expecting things to be different. This is exactly what Jason was doing when he decided to continue his killing spree. But by the end of it all, things were barely any different. These make Far Cry 3 in my opinion one of the greatest video games of all time. In short: it’s like watching a movie written by Stanley Kubrick and directed by Michael Bay, and it didn’t suck.
I had never played this before, but remwmber seeing my friend playing the Series alot. It looked really cool and loved seeing and learning more about it.
“My first impression of Far Cry 3 was that it reminded me of a more brutal Uncharted.” Speaking of which, Why the hell haven’t you completed Uncharted 4 yet?!
Here's something about how I got into far cry because it is some what funny. My step dad wanted to get uncharted but didn't know what it was called at the time so he brought far cry 2 and now I have 100% 2, 3 and 4 because they are great games
Tried beating this one before christmas, turns out the game can bug out during one of the later scripted scenes. I got furious because I couldn't beat up my little brother like I was intended to.
I've been 100% completing ever assassin's creed and far cry game since FC3 (and for AC all games from 1 to odyssey) and I will undoubtedly continue this for future games. I totally agree that in some games the collectathon can be quite annoying but I have always personally found it very satisfying, because if you do it sooner rather than later in the game then for the rest you're pretty OP which I personally like. It's so nice to completely run over the enemy as a predator.
Although I love Farcry 3, Farcry 2 will always be my favourite. Something about it just feels more immersive. I also find it more engaging with multiple play through than 3. Honestly, after Vaas was shoved aside my interest in 3 dropped, whereas in 2 the villain is always taunting you, always just out of reach for the whole game rather than just half of it. Vaas is one of the best video game villains though.
A new challenger has appeared! Via an echo from the past... ‘But beardman!?’ In all honesty...you know what we’ve waited for...for ages?! Binding Of Isaac! We know you’ve already completed it years ago!! Give up the goods!

Kind of interesting timing as I started replaying this game myself a few days ago. I came close to fully completing this my 1st and 2nd play-through but definitely don't plan on trying for anything like that this time.

Jason Brody is one of the best player characters in a single player game... Change my mind.
Far Cry 3 is the best Far Cry Game. It was the first impactful game I've ever played.
I had this problem today too lol. Just reloaded a checkpoint and it was all good.
That’s one of the reasons why I didn’t choose the bad ending because of Riley
This game will never die
Please tell me Ted is the guy in the sand 😂
the actor that plays Vaas also makes an appearance in Better Call Saul and also plays Scorpion in Spider Man Homecoming
can't wait for the flynn's arcade NG+ episode
nice to see you revisit a classic and finally complete it
So much comfort food talk made me hungry! But in a good, comforting way.
Far Cry 3 was the first game I completed, so it'll always have a special place in my heart

Not to mention that amazing main theme by Brian Tyler.
One of the best of the series, and Vaas is one of the best modern video game villains

The ghost of persona 5 is haunting you.....
I hope, one day, you will do an episode dedicated to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2017). It's not a completionist-heavy type of game, but I would love to hear your opinion on one of my all-time favourite games!
What the fu , I'm playing this game right now I've never heard of it and it's on game pass so I thought id play
@@Pactastic042 It's fantastic, isn't it?
Kind of interesting timing as I started replaying this game myself a few days ago.
I came close to fully completing this my 1st and 2nd play-through but definitely don't plan on trying for anything like that this time.
