Hey guys! Will be doing a followup video to discuss the integration options with Amplitube software. Keep an eye out!
Got both the reverb and delay units. At first I thought they were very difficult to use but I started digging into the manual and how to do params as I truly hate the factory yada. I got this idea use PITCH delay mode, set the delay and feedback to ZERO as many delays can't do this, drop the pitch to a 5th or an 8va and OMG a latency free, polyphonic true note pitch shifter octave, blew my mind. I used to love the 5th dwn harmonizer on the DT Whammy nothing else could do it without getting into expensive stuff. This puppy wow, that was worth the price of admission right there! Sure it's wicked cool for esoteric ambient stuff like our buddy here does, but man think outside the box a bit and wow there's some mindblowing stuff in here. You have 3 available pitch shifts in this mode so you can do utterly wild combinations of intervals and octaves, can't wait to try some different shimmer and stuff, we are always thinking long delays an dpanning, which is cool but what about zero ms on some things, wow, blew my mind how cool that sounds, zero tracking glitch zero latency feel, amazing!
Paul - excellent tips! Guess what I will doing tonight! :-)
This thing is now on my buy list. Some of these sounds are precisely what I look for in a delay, to a tee. Fantastic!
How was it?
I already have more delays than I need. Now this and the verb come out only to tempt me further.
Just got mine, haven't opened it yet, but this video has got me inspired! Great demo!
It seems it is between Boss DD-200 and DD500 price wise. Anyone compared it with them?
I still love that UD Stomp into the Big Sky
Nice sound! Every time I’ready to buy something already another good one comes up 😆
It's amazing how many great pedals are out there!
wow, that Arctic delay is pretty rad
Sounds decent, more affordable than the Strymon stuff.
I dropped strawman a couple years ago. Overrated they are.
For me still the timeline by far
Hi, how much price difference? have you compared playing the strymon timeline vs this amplitube? Thanks 🙏
@@onzkicg TL costs 200 € more or about 40%
Not compared them but I have the timeline and it blows put my mind. Like I don’t even have enough skill to abuse every little feature this beauty has in ot. After 3 yrs it still tends to surprise me. And it sounds outstanding... As does the volante
That being said the Amplitube xtime is ridiculous for its price. I cannot believe that they managed to build such a supreme pedal with so much goodness for 250 euros. Whaaaat? Insane. Its a nobrainer. If you arent a complete nerd like me it almost doesn’t matter which one you get. So if you are short on money the amplitube is your saving grace
Wow, the Artic setting alone is worth the price of the pedal.
Amplitube is not going at this in any half-hearted way are they? IK Multimedia is doing the "Let's compete with Line6 and Strymon and Eventide" thing here.
There was a time when I would have said "they should just make a multi-effect unit equivalent to the headrush MX5", but actually I'm glad they've gone with a mega-delay and a mega-reverb.
Those two time-based effects are fantastic way to disrupt the market and give musicians more choices.
I don't find the X-Space reverb to sound as good as pricier options like the RV500 and Specular Tempus, but pretty good at its price, and a bit better at the BF price I got it at after Thanksgiving. 😎
I doubt it competes with the Eventide Space and Strymon Big Sky, which compete with the Specular Tempus and RV500.
If you need to know how a pedal sounds with tastefully orchestrated melodies, COO is the place to be.
This is an interesting and competitively priced series of pedals. I liked the ping pong, pattern and dual models. But I really liked the analogue model with that gain parameter. The extra grit was very appealing to my ears. It seems a fairly conventional multi delay until you get to Arctic. That did sound lush. Looking forward to your next video on the software integration options, Bill.
For analogue, nothing touches the MXR Carbon Copy and Carbon Copy Deluxe pedals to my ears. Nothing nails that analogue sound spot-on like those. All of the digital emulations sound like laughably mutilated imitations.
But if you need something with multiple delay types and to keep your pedalbpard from growing too big, then obviously, something digital is the way to go, like the X-Time. "It can't be helped."
Is it me, or did you say you were going to show how easy to cr5eate a patch, and then not create one? ;O0 I particularly would like to know how easy it is to create user patches, and how easy it is to recall them. Thank you for demo though!
What about subdivisions
Love the full complement of ins and outs but does it handle synths and other line level signals well? So many choices these days.
I bought it and it handles my analog and fm synths just fine.
Yes these are quite attractive but remind me of all the old Line six "4" pedals I already have... Do you plan on getting/testing the rest?
Hey Bill. Thanks for posting this. I think it's super cool how you make such great use of different gear on both sides of the price spectrum. Being so, I was curious what you thought about this compared to the strymon timeline. I don't know specifically why, but that thing just seemed to have some amazing sounds. Like yourself (I think, right?), I do a lot of stuff right into the computer, so when IK put this out I was excited about the idea of being able to use the same presets in amplitube and live. It does have similar features as the timeline, at least at first glance, but for some reason I kinda liked that one more. Then there is IK Multimedia, which has in the past updated their software and left me hanging a bit until I bought a new version or jump through a ton of hoops to get them back. I wasn't a fan of spending all that time on that. Anyway, this X-time vs the Timeline, any thoughts? Thanks again in advance.
The X-Time is a great pedal, but the Timeline is certainly a classic with a number of features that the X-Time does not have.
@@chordsoforion Like what? (If you don't mind mentioning...)
Can you explain why when you switch modes say from digital to ping pong, the name on the display still says OLD TAPE ? I noticed it on some other changes as well, the names don't seem to make sense
Yes, Sweetwater does pair you up with a salesperson. Sorry Tyler, It’s gonna take more than smarties and tootsie rolls to get me to return your calls.
Ha ha! Yes, they send me those bags of candy with every order and my kids say, “Yummy, candy!”
My sales rep of the past 5 years got promoted and didn't bother to tell me so I've been left dealing with strangers who don't seem as interested in my, my music or my money... Also one time I didn't get any candy and wasn't happy. What keeps me coming back is the easy payment plan since my credit is f'd.
Gigantic advertisement. Why buy this when you can get a boss dd20?
Well, I did say it was a sponsored video. :-) But seriously, buying used cool gear like the DD-20 Gigadelay can be a great option.
@@chordsoforion you are correct. I just was thrown off guard. I guess I don't heed to warnings before etc
I don’t have a problem with that fact that it is a sponsored video. Bill is a talented guitarist and Sweetwater hooked him up with a free pedal for an in depth demo. So what?
honest opinion?: How does this stack up to a Timeline? It looks like its easier to adjust on the fly. Accurate?
It looks like it is easier to adjust to me! It sounds good as well, but of course it is really hard to tell through UA-cam compression. Someone needs to do a SHOOTOUT with both pedals. I will have to look up the basic specs for the chips on both pedals.
@@josephwright5921 yeah I would love to see. The one thing that really is cool though is that it seems really compatible with amplitube, which sounds really convenient for people who tinker around with recordings and want to play that stuff live.
I ended up buying both this and the Space and they sound great on my synths.
can you use it with X space please let have some ambient.
Can it do 2 different delays at the same time?
Great video. How do you record your voice?
I use an Electrovoice Cardinal microphone off camera just above my head into an ART Pro tube mic preamp - then direct into Logic Pro through my soundcard. I then use iZotope Nectar 3 to EQ and compress the voiceover.
@@chordsoforion thank you 🙏
I feel it is better to just learn how to use the effects in the analog world I have been shopping for delays for three days now and I see why I do t see it in any delay shootout videos sounds like shit. Could be the player also I don’t know do t like it though.
What are the Harm and Arctic doing?
Harm is one of the pitch shift modes, and arctic is a shimmer style delay.
Does it do circular delay?
Multi-voice delay?
I don't know - not sure what you mean by circular and multi-voice.
