Hey guys! Will be doing a followup video to discuss the integration options with Amplitube software. Keep an eye out!
Bill, how would you compare this with the Source Audio nemesis or ventris?
Excited, locked and loaded, ready to burn, lets go. I adore this thing!!!
As paul david once said, its an awesome time to be a guitar player, awesome equipment whereever you look.
Back then when bill was young, people built their own little real plate reverbs, look at how far we have come to get realistic roomscapes out of a box. Beautiful
@@tdrake59 The nemesis is very creative with its pitch shifted delays, the ventris shimmer is the best o have ever heard.Tip: if you are in the market for a reverb, check out also the neunaber immerse, sthe strymon bigsky and nightsky.
For delay there are so many good options. From strymon the volante, timeline and el capitan, the nemesis is premium, also the collider is supercool as you have delay and reverb. But then also the alter ego from tc or the flashback tripple delay, really, dozens if not hundreds of awesome pedals. Just be sure to buy delay and reverb with stereo in and out as stereo unlocks whole dimensions in space effects.
Its very simple: watch some videos of your prefered pedals and the ones that inspire you and make you want to know more and get on hands the most, thats the ones you should buy. Also there is no too much sounds if you have fun experimenting. On a strymon timeline you can simply use tape, digital or bucket all the time out of the box and still sound better than most other pedals.
@@marcusstrymon693 Thanks for that detailed reply. Much appreciated.
@@tdrake59 Hey Tom - The Nemesis is a delay, so the X-Space doesn't really compare side to side. I think the X-Space does compare pretty favorably with the sounds of the Ventris, and it is easier to create presets.
You are the man of happiness, clear speaking, silence, good music, meditation. You are a blessing and your music its soo natural and beautiful. You are an amazing youtuber.
Thank you-giving me daydreams of hooking it up to my acoustic guitar and playing through the pa. Enjoy!
This review , and that pedal are incredible !!!!!!!!!
I bought them both and used your links. They sound great on my 🎹 synths and are easy to tweak.💥
Do the note tails spill over when you switch between presets?
I watched your video on the X-Time yesterday and purchased it. Now I watch your video on the X-Space today and purchase it. Thank god Sweetwater has them both discounted.
I typically won't buy a reverb or a delay pedal until I've listened to your demo of it :) As soon as I heard this I went out and got the X-Time and X-Space. Great pair of ambient workhorses. Thank you for providing such great demos and enjoyable tunes to hear them in!
Thanks so much Allan!!
well there are some amazing pedals in this category he never did. Like Eventide Space which imo blows the x-space away.

Wow that pedal sounds sick...
What I love about pedals like these is that you can shut your mind off and just play and you go down unknown paths for hours, especially in stereo. I have an ocean machine and this pedal is calling to me. The shimmer alone.
I considered buying an Ocean Machine for my synths
@@josephwright5921 You won't regret an X-Space.
SWEET!!!
I just bought the Amplitube TONEX pedal, and then just seen this crossing my feed. Amplitude is knocking it out of the park with their gear. I mean, the TONEX is not a real tube amp and I can feel that slight difference of it not being real tubes. But its so damn close is scary and you would never know the difference in a recording of what was used to record a song with between Tonex or and amplifier. I do have a Hall of Fame 2 pedal that has most of this already. But this Reverb pedal sounds very nice. Now I have to check out the delay they made.
rock on!
Excellent demo/review! can you combine the different algorithms to create your own sounds ?
I love huge reverbs and especially the Ethereal mode sounds amazing. I think I'm set pedal-wise with my Neunaber Immerse, but if they make plugins, I could definitely use a new reverb plugin...
Actually, the pedal algos are from the Amplitube plugins.
If you think Immerse rocks, wait until you try the GFI Specular Tempus, IKM X-Space, and BOSS RV500.
Nice demo. I love my X-Space pedal. It’s amazingly versatile. You didn’t demo the “X-Mode” (hold down the middle foot switch) but it’s pure magic IMO. I’ll finish up an ambient/spacey/ethereal thing, hold down that switch, and it just soars.
My gear these days are my Line 6 Helix and/or my IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 Max. Given the collection & versatility of those, I thought my pedal days were over. The X-Space changed that. With the virtual version being north of $100, the hardware version (which includes the software version) was a no brainer for me. And I can use the pedal with my Helix as well. Win win.
Do the presets on this spillover naturally when you switch between presets? I'm so so so close to ordering 🥺
Looking at the Flashback Triple for the drone. I just bought the X-Space and looking at the X-Time. Is there a drone in either of these?
I have the Keeley Caver's and i got all your tone's almost you demonstrated. love that pedal, i purchased the Wompler Ettherial At the same time, the Etherial ate shit after a month.
I wasn't really quite sold on this and then you put it on Ethereal... I'd love to compare it to my TC Trinity's E1 and E2 :D
The reason the Pre-Delay is hard to hear with the Shimmer 1 setting, it's because Pre-Delay is assigned no function with that setting. Notice the two horizontal (- -) lines.
Thanks for an elaborate review. Great as always! Do we have any chance of seeing you compare it to Big Sky? I think many of us are eager to hear them side by side.
It's no BigSky killer or competitor
Just once, I’d like to see a UA-camr say “ I want to encourage you to find a great local music store and shop there! Get to know them! Make friends with them! These are the people that will leave a set of strings in their mailbox for you when you can’t get there before they close. These are the people that will bring a cable to you AT THE GIG, when you’re in a bind. If you want them to be there for you, BUY FROM THEM so they can be!”
BTW, the above examples are things I’ve personally done for customers.
I think it's awesome that your run your business like that! Unfortunately, there are no local music shops in the rural area I live in, so I must depend on mail order.
Is this one of your favorite reverb pedals? If it is what is another? Thanks for your time sir. Beautiful music btw
Beautiful lush dream scapes
No flashy finger lickin speed
Distilling music down to its essentials
Could you please demo a Korg Kaos pad
please for effects that are massagabke in real time and how about demoing a ebow
Instead of a plectrum
Is there a freeze function in this pedal?
nope
EHX makes reverbs that do, and I don't know which other companies also make reverbs with freeze.
Hey Chords. Would you recommend this over the Ocean Machine in terms of quality? I know the Ocean has more options
If you are looking for a dedicated reverb pedal, then yes - the X-Space reverbs are higher quality. But you lose the 2 delays and the looper.
How much does this cost in the USA? I’ve given a try to Amplitube on my computer and I can tell amp modeling is not that bad, neither delays! Great video!
They’re a bit over $300 in the US…but that also includes the virtual version for AmpliTube as well. If I recall, the virtual version is $100+ if purchased through the app. So, it’s not a bad deal IMO.
I love the pedal. It’s amazingly versatile. He didn’t demo the “X-Mode” (hold down the middle foot switch) but it’s pure magic. I’ll finish up an ambient/spacey/ethereal thing, hold down that switch, and it just soars.
What is the ETHEREAL mode actually doing different than the other modes? It sounds nice.
From the manual: "This is a highly modulated plate that recreates moving airy trails and adds magic to your lines."
@@chordsoforion Thank you! If i buy one, i will be sure to use your link!
Desert Island: Big Sky or that thing?
Big sky.
How would you say this compares with the RV500?
RV-500 is more versatile, hi-fi, and can run two algorithms at once.
Awesome, but dammit, I still haven't gotten an Eventide Space yet, now this, too 🤣🤣
Will you demo the Amplitube Delay pedal as well?
daaaaaang, that Ethereal 'verb rules!
X-Time demo posting later today!
@@chordsoforion thanks
I opened up my X-Space to see the guts, and the mainboard looks to be designed to host two effect engines. We may see combo units later consisting of X-Space + X-Time and such. Maybe.
Wonderful, but let's face it: you could make a broken matchbox with a couple of threads sound good ;)
Hello -- can you stack reverbs in this unit (2 at once)?
No - only one reverb at a time.
@@chordsoforion Thank you... I just ordered the Ventris and finally, a Timeline. The Collider will probably go back.
What do you think of the meris hedra?
I would adore it but 370 for a potch shifter that is monophonic and doesnt have a tone controll button?
When is strymon gona roll in with a big box pitch shifting pedal....
I really don't have an opinion as I have not used the Hedra, however, it is stereo. Just watched the Meris video where they demoed it.
@@chordsoforion Yep the stereo is great. But it is unfortunately not polyphonic like the pitch fork. which confuses me, if a pitch shifter for 150 can do polyphonic, why is a shifter for 370 euros monophonic
Ah. Sorry bout that. I saw monophonic and thought "stereo imaging" instead of polyphonic. Yes - agreed that is a definite downer for the money.
@@chordsoforion Yeah especially since the pitch fork tracks very well, costs about 1/3 and is basically years old technique
The meris sounds better tho... playing a single note it sound so awesome....
Step in strymon!!!
saw some horrific demos of these pedals where people were making stink eye faces at it before they ever turned it on . some of the worst demos i ever saw . glad there is someone on youtube who is capable of reading a manual . this is the first time i heard a shimmer i liked .
Let's paint some puffy little sound clouds, isn't that wonderful!
Another Big Sky competitor has arrived. Magnetic sounds like it would be really cool on bass. Sounds great overall. Yet another reverb with no answer to the Big Sky Chorale setting. Big Sky still wins. Ahh well.
What is Chorale actually doing?
X-Space is awesome, but not up there with the Big Sky, RV500, Specular Tempus, and Eventide Space
I love the magnetic setting, something really special about it
👍🏽👍🏽
TS or TRS cables?

I miss your performance only videos! Equipment demos are nice when initially building a pedalboard, but I'm not about to replace what I already have with the latest and greatest (most beyond my budget, too) when I still haven't fully explored my old stuff. There are already lots of pedal demos on UA-cam but few Ambient artists as creative as you! :-)
Hey Brian! So glad you like the performance videos. I am very pleased to report that I have posted 5 performance vids in the last month! :-)
@@chordsoforion I've heard a couple of the older ones. Quite nice, inspires me to want to add backing synthpads playing some pleasant chord movements to fill out the track. 😁
NUX duo Time Delay Still the best sir :)
For sure the NUX Duotime is great, but that's a delay and this is a reverb.
like
Nice demo!
But the shimmer reverb effect is a cliché. Why do people use it?
It is true that is has become a required reverb type on most modern delay pedals. I guess manufacturers feel like they need to have a shimmer option due to a perceived popularity. In. any case, I very much like the Shimmer 2 on this pedal. You can really dial it back and have it blend in with the tone of the guitar itself.
Yes, most people dial it in too high
Shimmer never gets old, it is folks dialing it in too hard that make it tiring.
Remember the old saying: too much bass makes people want to dance, too much treble makes people want to leave. (or too much treble is bad, basically, and so is shimmer dialed in too strong)
Also, shimmer shines with darker sounds.
Hmmmm..... never did I feel that the original sound was really integrated with the reverb. The verb always had a grainy processed quality. And terrible demo of the Spring algorithm. You never highlighted any "drip" quality, which is essential to spring reverb. And way too much time spent on Shimmer..... jeez I am SO over the shimmer sound. Being more of a synth guy, I guess I'd like to hear this pedal with more than just guitar.
Tab of these riffs would be great.
