Triton - The Orphan Moon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2024
- At the most distant recesses of our Solar System lay the ice giant planets, Uranus and Neptune. We have only managed to visit these worlds once, and as such we know considerably less about the moons that orbit them. However, one moon stands out from the rest - Triton. Today, we will examine its unique features, and also relive the story of how this Kuiper Belt object came to be Neptune's largest satellite. The Lesser Worlds - Episode #2

Sun: "Yes, dear."

honestly 100% better than anything on the discovery/science channel
Well if the narritor said there where ancient aliens on Triton he would be on discovery lol

OMG, you to.
@@guillermoramos5047 Yep, and it keeps happening. Think I've watched this 5 times going to sleep now. Something so relaxing about the voice, it's like watching an ASMR video like The French Whisperer.

Until the loud ads interrupt.
Been listening to this guy and Anton more than anything else lately.
Your videos really never fail to give me a sense of hopeful optimism. Your tone is always optimistic, however realistic. You don't condescend whatsoever, everything is put into laymen's terms, and the messages you convey are concise and easily grasped. Accounts like yours have helped rekindle my love for science, and changed my perspective on the concept of human existence itself. I only hope that the seeds that you and others plant, grow and develop in a time when humanity can travel the stars in search of new worlds and new knowledge. I'll make sure to share this video. Thank you.
It’s a humbling realization once you know your actual place and contribution in the universe.
This channel is absolutely insane and is an outstanding achievement to be proud of. From the soundtracks, to the chapter-like chronological structure, to the intonation and pacing of your speech. Absolutely wonderful I've been a fan for a while and definitely my go-to for anything astronomy related. Unparalleled quality, Sam❤
Triton; the moon I used to hate because I always got it mixed up with Titan, but recently have come to love.
*Titania just existing awkwardly*
@@djmace9029 Titania is the most beautiful moon
Yo, Neptune really just took one look at a dwarf planet and was like, "Aight, so, you're my adopted kid now".
Triton is quite an interesting moon. It's one of my favorites. It's the only moon, other than Titan, to have a substantial atmosphere, one that actually makes any difference on the surface. It's also the only object in our solar system the orbits in a retrograde orbit. It's just very unique.
This was beautiful. Thank you. It's sad to think of how many deny space in favor of flat planet with a dome and no universe... as if that somehow makes it more majestic
BAD AND WRONG!
THEY SAID SPACE IS A VACUUM lol
why WoULD SPACE BE A VACUUM eH?

The only sad and disappointing about this channel is that there aren't more episodes. I can watch many of them several times over, so fascinating and relaxing, but I wish you would make more!
Why tf am i empathizing with a moon... dude your wording is so good
Triton could have also passed near a relatively large moon, Triton's gravity flinging the pre-existing moon out of Neptune's orbit, and this moon's gravity would have slowed Triton down enough
Your videos are incredibly well produced and presented, and you have the perfect documentary voice. Please keep these coming.
Very nicely done. The unexplored outer solar system is my favorite place :)
When you see your subscriptions commenting on each others' videos
You usually don't appreciate it or think too deeply about it when you hear about planets far from the sun being cold and dim, but if you think about it, it means that the universe itself is a place of endless midnight. All the sci-fi movies where you see starships cruising around interstellar space as if lit in the daytime (necessarily, for a movie), in reality they'd just be pitch black shadows against the stars. And on Earth, "night" and "winter" are just the conditions of deep space seeping down to the ground when the little bubble of daylight around our sun is blocked out, and we feel for a moment the abyssal depths of space momentarily pushed back by the little candle we circle around.
I think it was KSR's _Green Mars_ novel in which they went to Triton, mined big blocks of nitrogen and launched them toward Mars such that they entered a decaying orbit, sublimed and enhanced the Mars atmosphere. I love that idea!
Informative & factual, straight forward and peaceful with a perfect ambient music & commentary... 👍

Watching videos like these makes me yearn to go “home,” wherever that may be.
Finding a quality youtube channel with zaero (or few) ads during the video intro, mid, or outro is very hard to find. I'm sure SEA has been tempted and offered many times of these types of advertising opportunities.
I'm proud to be subscribed to this channel.
I appreciate that, and have deliberately strayed away from product placements because my channel’s money maker is the view duration. People watch for long because there’s not that 45s of ads at the start.
I have to ask though, what are your thoughts on me getting a sponsor? Not a product placement, just a little sponsor logo which flags up for a few seconds during my intro. No voice or anything, just a little logo.
I’m thinking perhaps this would be an acceptable line for my channel, but a fair few people seem to value the non-corporate aspect, so I’m keen to hear your thoughts on less intensive sponsorship.
IT's a privilege to be a subscriber to something that has so FEW subscribers , A special club of people ,
Man, your content has really advanced Sea! I've been watching you since early 2017 in your GD days, but this is way better.

YOU MAKE TRITON SOUND SO COOL!! I now want to know more!! Some sort of mission with a permanently orbiting satellite and some auxiliary landing craft is a must!
The problem is that Triton is a LONG way away. Counting the time to build an orbiter as well it could literally be 30 years before we get anything back. Note that Voyager 2 took 13 years just to fly there and zoom by. To get into orbit could take much longer, especially as that would make the mission cheaper.
I still come back to this video 2.5 years later to listen to your narration over Chris Zabrinskie ambience 😎
Best astronomy channel on UA-cam. Hands down.
I love this so much I had to watch it twice today. That's coming from someone who finds it hard to see content on space I haven't already seen.
Hope he covers all our solar systems moons now!!!
thx for bringing some love to triton, my fav moon. its active and there may even be life in an ocean below the surface. someday we will find out.
This video was very well done. I hope I live to see the results of the next mission to Neptune and Triton and I really hope for a Cassini type orbiter mission so we can really get a good long-term look.
Loving this video! Very well-done and narrated. I have heard another theory, which is that Triton was orbiting another planet, which got swallowed by Neptune; leading to Triton's capture by Neptune. This heat from that collision would account for Neptune being thermally hotter than Uranus, for example, though Uranus is closer to the sun.
If you could do a 10 hour narration of the solar system and the universe, and with this background music; I would love to listen to it at night before going sleep. It would be a great learning ASMR. It's a compliment, I really like these videos.
Best narration and the scoring is amazing. Great job! This story is uploaded on my very birthday. Subscribed for more.
Endless money being spent on wars on Earth. I wish it was all being spent on space exploration.

So true....I don't give a damn about microbes on some Jupiter moons where there is no higher form of life possible. We should pour a lot more resources into detecting and defending against asteroids
@@Dilley_G45 lol there is a sector that is dealing with that.
Amazing thing with science you can concentrate on more then one thing.
@@admiralsnackbar69 true .... But priorities....always time for Jupiter's moons after we survive
@@Dilley_G45 The reason scientists are so obsessed with microlife is it would prove life does exist outside of earth, and it would provide the first tangible data on how normal life is in the universe. If we get the data and get a better understanding of how life forms, what sustains it etc. We can start calculating more accurately the chance of intelligent life and where to find it. Scientists love the idea of finding life in these impossible places as it would prove life is abundant in the universe.
As for priorities, we have hundreds of ICBMs that would be better fitted with probes than weapons of mass destruction.
