Waylon Jennings played for this band in 1966, in Rolling Stone interview back in 1978 said it was the most pleasurable moment of his life.
These guys were recording around the same time as Creedence. Their rival tours of the west coast was the stuff of rock legend. Their break up in '74 was a true loss to the industry.
I opened for these dudes back in the 70's....
Did they really enjoy the music? Or, were they treated like circus animals?
I think I was at that concert! Did you play in The Electric Banana?!
🤣
I don't care what anyone says, that drummer had talent! I've been playing drums for forty years and that chimp is hell on a hi-hat!
They mime their performances better than many human acts on TV.
This IS FABULOUS, TODAYS TV Has none of this Creativity!!
Fantastic ape rock and roll. They really know how to jam and boogie. - simian style!
their live show was bananas!!
Talk about memories!!! I watched Lancelot Link Secret Chimp every Saturday morning when I was a kid!! Thanks for the memories!!!
Me, too, Alicia. I loved that show, and still do - at 64! We don't necessarily have to "grow up" completely; we can still be kids and, the older I get, the more of my childhood I retain. You're never too old to watch Lancelot Link!
@@321snoot Amen!! I'm 59, turning 60 this year. We really don't have to grow up completely!!!
@@aliciawilkerson9015 I'll tell you: Turning 60 hit me like no other birthday (and not in a good way), but stuff like Lancelot Link eases the discomfort, for sure, and helps keep me feeling young. A pre-Happy 60th Birthday to you, Alicia. Stay young!
Thank you 321!!! I'm looking forward to it in a good way. I did the same when I hit 40. Each milestone is a blessing. Please stay safe and be blessed, my friend!!
@@aliciawilkerson9015 Excellent, Alicia. The very same to you, my friend!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REUNION TOUR!!!!
Plans are evolving.....
@@kevinjUtube GOOD ONE !!!
Magic feeling was recorded after their visit to the Maharishi in 1966. It was during that same period the Evolution Revolution turned on to LSD25
When you think about it, this is really an amazing accomplishment.
i grew up in SAN DIEGO/L.A. and saw them film many episodes in and around Mission bay San Diego.
The keyboard player with the messed up teeth is my spirit animal.
hahahahaha
VH1 did a great “Behind The Music” about this band, it’s meteoritic rise to fame and it’s tumultuous break-up!
"It was a zoo, man. It was just bananas. They were all swingers."
That is an exceptional drummer. Anyone who can get that snare sound out of a high hat is #1 in my book.
Definite individual personalities. The guitar player is totally chill, the drummer's doing all he can to keep everybody else on track, and the keyboard player is just rocking out as hard as he can!
I loved watching this show on Sunday Morning in the 70's before Church.
Those chimps could rock🤘🏾.
Goodness, I remember watching this on TV when I was a kid.....
huge influence on Screaming Trees and Northwest Grundge
Love the Stevie Ray Vaughn Strat- makes even a chimp sound great!!!
ALL THE VOCALS WERE PERFORMED BY STEVE HOFFMAN AND RON ROMAN FROM THE MYSTIC ASTROLOGIC CRYSTAL BAND! LEAD GUITAR BY STEVE HOFFMAN AND TAMBOURINE BY RON ROMAN,AND DRUMS BY LARRY BROWN.
Thank you for the info ! The lyrics are hysterical in these E.R. Tunes. My friends and I watched this in our college years.
So underrated
🙉
Wow, i actually really like this song
Never missed a Saturday Morning with the band ! 😎
Man how hard must have this been to film, but thank you for it
There's a documentary on here where the creators say the musical segments were actually comparatively easy. The chimps seemed to naturally know what to do along to the music. It was harder to get them to do the things for the rest of the show.
Still better then nickleback
The high-hat work, perfection...
The Evo Revo puts MOST of today's bands to shame! :)
I used to watch this show with my parents twenty plus years ago on Nick At Night. Good memories. Now I'm off to find som Mr. Ed clips.
I have most of their solo LPs. I hope they get back together.
No chance. They are all in politics by now.
I forgot this,I love them !!! They released an album, good stuff.
These producers were super high to come up with this bring back & make it legal whatever they were using We need more humor in this mad 😡 society
I swear that is Jim Morrison in the red vest.
Geeee Laanncceeee !!!!
I heard that Stevie Nicks stole the tamborine player's moves!
No that was OZZY
Growing up inSANe Diego...WATCH MANY of the LIVE ACTION SHOTS filmed in and around Mission Bay and San Diego County.
Good memories
Ooh my goodness.!!!!!! What a show.!
Are they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ?
Can you imagine them walking on stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and being Inducted by George The Animal Steele ?! 😂😂😂😂
They should be 🍌
Not yet
Lancelot Link... é coisa noooossa!!!
The best band of all time Evolution Revolution!! I remember their TV Episodes.
Man, this beat is dope!
This band gets better with time
🤣
It was great growing up back then. Such a variety of GREAT, GOOFY STUFF. on Saturday mornings, and even Sunday mornings (Blondie and Dagwood, Ma and Pa Kettle...)
The cat on the drums is phenomenal.
Love it iam a kid again lol lol
Best show ever in the day ~ always made me laugh
I'm 64, and it STILL makes me laugh! You're never too old to watch Lance Link!
Damn they can really rock
styler de ouf
Then when the cameras were off, Lancelot went apeshit and ripped off the face of the cameraman, making him the 4th victim of Lancelot's actor prima-donna tantrums.
Kicking some serious butt here.
I roadied for these guys on their 1972 West Coast tour. They ate bananas soaked in hash oil right before they would take the stage. Later on they opened for the Archies, Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as well as the Star Wars Cantina Band.
MORE COWBELL!
👍
Eu assisti muito esse seriado, meu saudoso irmão adorava, ria muito! boa recordação!
These cats were way ahead of their time.
LOVE THAT SHOW!
Obrigado Igor Guimarães🙏
They were one jammin' band back in the day...
After their break up in '74, I was surprised that none of their solo careers took off.
Right up there with the Archies!
my moment is made
Wouldn't make it on air today. Wouldn't even make it past the pitch meeting.
It was rumored that the guitar player was Bubbles dad!
They don’t have a 4 string electric bass player on the stage although a bass line is being played by the bassist in the song.
More talent here than all the crap combined today.
Q: How much dope did they ingest back in the day?
A:
A lot.
Still better than 5 Finger Death Punch....lol
hahahahahaha!!!!! They are too... LOL
Their contract rider requested fresh bananas backstage at every gig.
watch, comment, subscribe, share,
can't keep a good man down, got you on my needs...
This rare clip was right before the 4-piece horn section was added! This band was super-hot in '70 & '71...I mean we all went APE over them...their singles drove us BANANAS...these chimps we not chumps...initially, their rival band was The Monkee's but later opened for Mandril. The band broke-up in the summer of '72 to peruse various musical and entertainment endeavors...Lancelot kept up with his acting and was later seen in the '80's in the movie Project X.
that one guy, kinda looks like kieth Richards in the 70s before he got his teeth fixed.
hahahahahahahaha!!!!
THEY SHOULD BE. I VOTE FOR THEM.
I need more cowbell !
I didn't realize Lady Gaga had been around this long.
LOL!!
hahahahahahahaha
Lady Gaga wasn’t born yet! Lol
The organ player would have been a good canidiate for Clear Choice dental work.
They were better than the Bay City Rollers !
I would love to hear what the actual in-studio sound was as opposed to the corny overdubbed song.
What do you mean?
This is LIVE
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol I take it you have never seen the TV series? Its amazing. Haha!
I suspect some local garage band did their original songs that never made it top 40 radio but were bought to be used for these chimp rock band segments. ☺
That cracked me up, well played
Corny? This song beats the pants off modern music.
The tambourine player looks like he's about to attack someone in the studio.
The apes just love to make their super great music! Under human influence, from Man's inspiration.Human shows;Ape learns.
Blondy with the tambourine be getting down
I heard these guys open for Maxine Waters when she's out on the campaign trail.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why this comment doesn’t have 6k likes is mind boggling!!!
There wigs are better than old Maxine's.!
Acho q eu nunca ri tanto na minha vida
Damn hippies
Seen the drummer last weekend down at the beach.
Hanging out at the Jersey shore? 😂 😂 😂
@@raymondkitchen6137 Why, yes. How'd you guess?
i'm sure i saw this band supporting Nick Cave in some dungeon gig a few years back... don't quite sound the same anymore so i guess they didn't handle all the banana benders they went on.
They opened up for the Beatles! Rumor is Lance got hooked on....bananas. 😢
Looks like my high school I went to
Nice Strat.
g mat yeah, it's a '58 Deluxe. The story goes that the chimp hammered on it for a number of gigs around Austin, TX, wore it out and hocked it for a couple bananas, where it collected dust in some pawn shop. Years later, some guy named Stevie Ray Vaughn found it and the rest is history. And you thought jimi Hendrix and Pete Townsend are rough on their guitars...!
These guys are pretty good
BEST EVER!.........😎 ✌
The tambourine player is hot!
wow, been there and done that
Which is Dolenz?
Um, the drummer?!
Vim pelo coisa nossa kkkkkkk
Iguinho
Where's the intro from Ed Simian?
RIP Davy Jones
which one is davy jones?
Michael J. Pollard on organ...
We were so happy watching this, and it was SO WRONG.
You are not the only one.
What? No love for the tambourine player? Every band needs a pretty face, especially this one!
Ernie Kovacs would have approved.
