This guy's stylin'. Reminds me of my past 1950's Grumman canoe, in which I made a portable outrigger. Simple and easy to do. Stood up most of the time fishing. Great video and mods. Thanks Scott, 2 years later!
It has since been sold but I used 11/2 pvc and the floats are boat fenders that have a hole through them instead of the other way. Used a 1/2 threaded rod to hold them on.
I love that boat because it's pre- wired. Nice trailer build, and outriggers. I ended buying the Jonny bass boats 100, because I wanted the Suzuki 2.5. I love to DIY some of my mods. It would look nice, if you spray that PVC black. 💯 🎣 🌊
Very nice rig you have there! I love the modified trolling motor design. If you wanted to improve your steering design there are a couple of things you could do that would either make it one handed or completely hands free. If you want to make it one handed you can order a steering lever then run a flexible tube through the side of the kayak to run your control ropes. If you wanted to go hands free so you could maybe do some trolling then you can order a kit that would replace your foot rests and give you foot steering. With either one of these options you could still clamp another rope to the top of the pole on the trolling motor and run it to one of those handles you have for pulling it out of the water. If you want to go a step further you could get one of those carabiner clips that have the rope tie down cam and then you could clip it to something next to you and run the rope that would be clamped to the top of the pole through the cam so you would have adjustable trim on your trolling motor.
Thanks, I did look into the foot steering idea but I don't have foot pegs I have molded foot rests so I can't do it. I am working on a Jon boat modification now so I may be selling the catch 100.
Hi Dennis, I don't have it anymore I sold it but the outriggers were just boat buoys with a hole through the center the pipe was 2" pvc. I mounted them using 2" pipe brackets and attached with well nuts.
I don't have the boat anymore I sold it, but it was not 1/2 inch. I used a 1/2 pcv male and female adapter that would tighten together with the hole in the middle. The male adapter end was less than 1/2 inches.
I have since sold the boat but the pipe is 1 1/2 pvc. The inner threaded rod that holds it is 1/2 inch or maybe 5/8 I can't remember now. The floatation are just boat protectors I don't remember the exact size but they were pretty standard. Only big difference is they have a hole through the middle instead of loops on each end. I had to order them, as the marinas around me don't carry them.
they build these boats big and stable for a reason, I stand and walk all over mine at 6ft 200lb, thing is rock stable. I have a 2.5 gas motor on mine and may add a front deck for a foot control trolling motor. Mini bass boat ftmfw!
Hi Robert, It is packed up for the winter still but basically I got two copper pipe clamp hangers and (3/4 inch I think) and I put the two ends with the forward hole around the shaft. I then screwed the eye bolts in and attached the string for the steering. If you look at the video around 9:49 you will see what I did. Also if you search on youtube for "steering trolling motor from front" or like that you will get a lot of videos. This videos demonstrates what I did ua-cam.com/video/S0KftB6dQbc/v-deo.html
Scott, thanks for sharing your video. I purchased a catch 100 this year & am having fun with it. I want to install a good fish finder on it and am curious to hear from you if you are happy with the type you have. Does it really show where the fish are at?
It was okay I do like the Garmin. It worked good for the kayak but I have since bought another model as I sold the kayak. The Garmin striker 4 (that I had) does show where fish are at but you have to decipher that from other debris which takes some practice I am still learning the best way to use a fish finder.
I just purchased a garmin on Amazon, its castable and you use your cellphone as the screen... no need for wires and such. Buy a waterproof solar battery charger, keep your phone, castable garmin fish finder and trolling motor charged all day!
The battery percent is just a 12 battery gauge I got on Amazon. The gearbox was from home depot (12 inch electrical box I think) and the controller was from the motor.

Glad you liked it. I ended up selling it the following spring.
Really amazing setup!!! The outriggers is so impressive. Can you please make a video or post the materials you need to build them. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

That’s so cool man. I did some mods to my bass raider. It’s fun to do and functional. Good work.
Thanks. I now have a Angler Quest 8 foot that I decked out love that little boat.
Some impressive modifications. I especially like the outriggers.
Thanks they work great.
I like the offset paddle holder. Good stuff
Thanks it worked great.

That would have been a good idea. I have since sold that boat.
That's really cool 😎 great rig! Gives me some ideas for my own.
Great I am glad it helped. Have fun doing your own.
Do you have any information on materials and measurements for your outrigger set up. It looks very cool and very stable.
No official measurements. I have since sold it so I can't even go measure them.

Nicee! Just ordered mine and will be using some of those mods
Glad you liked them.
Scott thanks for the video! We have the same boat just in different colors! The Mods you did are dope thanks for sharing! #FishOn
Thanks. I had fun doing it. I have another project lined up for the spring when I modify a jon boat.
That’s what I dreamed about when I was a kid. Fun hobby
It was a great project.
Awesome Job, good ideas.
Thank you!
Scott, can you give specs measurements and such for the outriggers. Also I didn’t know the item you stated to mount them on the kayak.
Hi Dennis, I don't have it anymore I sold it but the outriggers were just boat buoys with a hole through the center the pipe was 2" pvc. I mounted them using 2" pipe brackets and attached with well nuts.
Sick setup
Thanks. I have since sold it but learned a lot.
Do you have a better picture of the transducer mount? I don't believe the hole in the bottom is half-inch did you have to drill it bigger?
I don't have the boat anymore I sold it, but it was not 1/2 inch. I used a 1/2 pcv male and female adapter that would tighten together with the hole in the middle. The male adapter end was less than 1/2 inches.
How fast do you go on that kayak with that trolling motor? 3-4 mph?
Yes that was about it.
Kayak training wheels lol great!!
Yes and I needed them or I would have flipped it for sure.
What’s the size of the outriggers middle and side pipe? Thanks 🙏🏽
I have since sold the boat but the pipe is 1 1/2 pvc. The inner threaded rod that holds it is 1/2 inch or maybe 5/8 I can't remember now. Man, you've got alot going on there. I'm thinking about, what if you flip the kayak?...you'll possibly short out all your electrical components.
That's what the outriggers are for. Can't flip it I tried.

I just got a pelican catch 100, i want to be able to steer without turing around, can you do video of how you did that? Thanks

Are those inflatable fenders or solid that you made your pontoons out of?
Inflatable fenders.
Where’d you get the stuff to do the battery percent/gear box mod?
The battery percent is just a 12 battery gauge I got on Amazon. The gearbox was from home depot (12 inch electrical box I think) and the controller was from the motor.
Why didn’t you do a pwm
I did, it ended up overheating and frying out when I was on the water.
How did you get inside the hull
I didn't everything was external only wire inside was run by manufacturer.
Nice whats the speed you get on that trollimg
@@JonR35 about 2.5 or 3 mph. Fine for a really small lake but too slow for anything else. One of the reasons I sold it.
Good deal, I had a 30# on mine and just put the NV 55# and now my speed is 4.5 which is impressive for the pwr 100
