Good morning everyone, how's your week been? And how gorgeous was it yesterday! I happily had a lazy day in the sunshine, listening to my podcast and not a lot else, it was bliss! So today, as the title would suggest I'm sharing lots of outfit ideas and all the style tips and tricks I follow for when it comes to looking chic and elegant throughout Summer. Where I invest, spend and save and how you can very easily recreate these looks if you so wish:) I'd love to hear your favourite outfit idea? You look so beautiful in that blue dress! I’m getting older, at 63, and have been buying more and more investment pieces that will last forever. I try to choose timeless styles and the best fabrics. My style is classic, so that helps a lot, as I avoid most trends anyway. But, every season there are some trends that fit well into my classic-style framework, like the current collared knit shirt (we call these polo shirts in the US), so I’m buying these while they’re still available. Also, those open-work cotton sweaters, they’re perfect because I overheat in most cotton sweaters, but these are full of holes. I hope you will check out two more of my favorite French brands, besides Sezane: Equipment and MM la Fleur. No brand affiliations, I just love these.

Jess, just an enormous thank you for how accessible you make classy styling. I always get so many ideas from you. I like how you don’t make it about ‘buy this’, but you give ideas and talk options through. I’m 43 and I have always really cared about fashion and my appearance, but the last couple of years I was feeling a bit disconnected from what I actually want to wear and lost a bit of confidence. But I’m glad to say I’m getting back on track now thanks to amazing real women like you. Xxx

Absolutely loved all of these clothes - especially the dresses! I think the simplicity and unfussy style you have is what really gives it the wow factor; it doesn't look like you've spent hours agonising over what to wear, or that you are desperately competing with the next woman to out do everybody (which I have unfortunately come across!) it just all comes together in such an elegant and stylish way.

Lots of women do seem to find the need to compete with each other which I find really sad. But most people grow out of it and once they realise building each other up and championing each others wins is far more fun, they never look back! I found it on sale for just €10😊I like reading books by James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Karin Slaughter etc. and by Dick/Felix Francis, Dick Francis was a jockey for queen Elizabeth in his younger days.
Aah I’ve read State Of Terror, it was really good actually you’ll like that too I hope:) I’ll have a google in some of those other authors you mentioned, I love my books:) Well actually I cheat these days and listen to them in audible but it’s such a great feeling getting lost in a good book x

I realized that my style was not really defined and I was more the person which went together with trends. So I had (still have 🙈 I am still decluttering) a lot of cloths BUT nothing to wear 😮!!! That was were I found you… looking for a why and a guide!
I really love how you style EVERYTHING, because is not only elegant classic looking old, BUT looking chic, fresh, young, beauty, elegant, polished, flattering …OMG I can tell you 100 more adjectives and all of them describe you!
Well I started since last year to check my gaps (basic clothes) and fill them AND suddenly I have a lot of chic, polished and flattering outfits… I got versatility and you are right!!! I feel that I have a defined style now and I feel more confident and elegant and I receive every day a lot of complements or looks checking how to style and put together things. You know one lady asked me “how to put together outfits” and i just passend your chanel … I said to her “it is 200% worthy. Others stopped me at the street and asked for were I bought my cloths. Some people that know me for a while are telling me that I look more young and elegant …😅now that I am getting older 😂 how is that!!! I should get know you early and check all your videos ❤

I have 3 tank tops and T-shirts now from COS and completely agree the quality is so much better, they wash and don’t loose their shape! Also thank you for the strapless bra recommendation, I’m always struggling to find the right one! I shall have a look at H&M.

Oh Jess, the clothes in this one look incredible! I find summer dressing the hardest of all, I struggle to look stylish in the heat. I got out my first summer dress of the season yesterday for our village fete and although it is cotton and loose it just felt it was sticking to me - it probably didn't look that way but it was so hot 🥵. I shall look forward to scrolling through your list of items. Have a good week x
Me, too, summer dressing is very tough for me, I constantly overheat and sweat, even in my dry climate. I now have a collection of about 5 or 6 linen dresses that I wear throughout the summer, cotton is almost always too hot on me. This spring I added three more to my previous two, so I have more options. They’re all ironed and ready to go, it makes me much more prepared to face the summer heat. I have some linen tops and trousers, too, but prefer dresses for most occasions, they’re inherently cooler and airier. When home alone, I live in H&M linen jersey dresses in the heat, but they’re not good for wearing in public - they’re too sheer, baggy and flimsy. But they are lifesavers for at home.🙂

I also liked that you mentioned (and modeled) summer hats which I like and always use here in CA. The linen pants that fall just below the waist is a great tip. Aww thank you that's kind of you to say:) I'm actually very lucky, my next door neighbour is a hairdresser so she does it for me now! I shall double check the colour with her and let you know x
You’re a Summer coloring type, as am I, so you look great in light, soft, and cool colors. I love white, taupe, and soft blues, pinks and greens best. I also wear navy, khaki and darker greens and blues, cool red or burgundy, cool browns and a few others, but avoid harsh black near my face - it doesn’t do us Summers any favors. I love warmer beige and camel tones, too, but those I’ll wear in maybe shorts or skirts instead, with a white top. They’re too warm-toned to really flatter my facial coloring, although I think I’m closer to neutral than you are.
Love your style, your looks so much!!! Which linen pants are your favorite? I'm looking to invest in some, been looking into Dissh for a while just don't know how the sizing works? I'm usually a size 4 US or 27 in denim...any tips? Sending love!!!
Aww that's sweet of you to write thank you so much:) Well funnily enough I was just trying on the linen Dissh ones now (love that brand) and actually I kind of messed up with my order there. I would say go true to size or possibly size down. For some silly reason I sized up in the trousers and so they're a little big on me and I end up wearing the MD ones more. Hope that helps lovely x

I personally love having those little mood boards on my phone of outfit ideas so I thought people could save the outfits they liked and have their own handy moddboard for those 'don't know what to wear moments'! Plus people forget that between UA-cam and Instagram I'm sharing SO many outfit ideas per week and I don't want it to get boring. For people watching or for me creating it too! So I'm trying to mix things up a little bit more with some vlogs of my real life, joined by friends in the odd video maybe even getting another friend in to cook haha! Who knows, the world is our oyster:) So hopefully those idea resonate with everyone and it's something they'd like to see too? x

Thanks Karen glad you like it too:) The bag itself is actually pretty light I would say, though I have a habit of putting way too much stuff in my handbags so i end up making them heavy! It does have a strap too so you can make it cross body or wear it on you shoulder aswell. Help that helps lovely but feel free to ask away if I can help with anything else x

You’re not “harping” on fabric composition at all, it is the single most important factor in choosing clothing. I don’t even bother to look at items made of synthetic fibers or blends, I know I can’t wear them. The same with plastic shoes and other accessories. That’s one reason I shop at better brands, not fast-fashion, I know I won’t have to wade through that ocean of polyester, nylon and acrylic to find the few items that might work for me. (I do like the manmade cellulosic fiber family - rayon/viscose/lyocell, etc., but quality in these is critical. They must be thick, studier versions or they won’t look good. Most fast-fashion viscose is very poor quality and it shows. I have got some great rayon items from the better brands).
Haha, well I’m glad I’m not annoying anyone mentioning it again:) I just find it so important and it makes all the difference to your outfit ideas. And that certainly doesn’t have to mean blowing the budget, as we know you can find 100% tencel at H&M and I chose a responsibly sourced cotton jumpsuit at New Look recently too which is lovely. I think a lot of the problem is that fast fashion has cemented a distorted view of how much clothes ‘should’ cost. When you think of the supply chain of say one dress for example it’s crazy to think it should retail at say £30! Someone’s going to be losing out heavily along the line and I bet it’s right at the start with the person who actually sewed that dress together. I find it so frustrating. So I try, like many to buy from companies I believe have a fair ethos. And I show my appreciation with my purse for the sustainable items they’re creating and really try to avoid the synthetics. It’s not a perfect formula and it’s impossible for me to know everything about the inner workings of every fashion brand but I really try. And I really do hope in say 10 years time ethical, sustainable clothing will no longer be the smallest rail in a store but make up the majority of high street stores collections:) x
