You know, I see that said a lot... Not to take away from that, but I never really thought of him that way. I guess because it's the only role I saw him in, and he seemed to naturally just play himself (somewhat along the lines of Jack Nicholson playing the Joker). But great show, and also loved him in Murder by Death...
@Diane Newman I still watch Columbo as well Set my DVR to record My faves are his older works from the early 70s he's so young no lines in his face jet black hair Those episodes make me go back in time
FZ - i have a feeling that Shera Danese was a M o the Tribe too. Her birthname was Kaminski . How she got Danese is unknown to me. Shera is pretty close to close to Shiri which is my song in Ivrit... a few too many co incidences plus they stayed together a hell of a long time.
My favourite actor of all time. No one played like him. When you see the show over and over you appreciate more the way of his acting. Always professional and know how to prevent the criminal he is closer to you. The way he expressed himself and played dumb. I love Peter Falk. May his sole RIP.
I watch "Columbo" every single night. Have all episodes on DVD, having recently completed my collection. It was my mother's favorite show, too - she got me into it. The shows are so impeccably done, with such strong casts and {with some exceptions, particularly in later episodes} scripts. Was wondering about Shera Danese, having noticed that she appears in so many episodes, and today I found out she was his wife! Never knew that. Peter Falk was absolutely brilliant. The other night I noticed that he had WRITTEN a "Columbo" episode, and it was one of the best-written, if not THE best-written episodes, of all of them! {Co-starred Faye Dunaway.} I Love Mr. Falk.
Oh goodness, I watched that one today and loved every minute of it. Nice to know it was written by Mr.Falk himself!! I watch at least two episodes of Columbo every Sunday afternoon!
Columbo is my favourite. His acting is very natural. I came across one episode on tv and it was like "fan at first sight." Some actors and characters are forever.
I'm going through a "Columbo junkie phase"! I'm just getting a kick out the memory lane shows via Netflix. I watched his shows as a little girl and enjoy it even more now as I check out how cool he was in summing people up to catch them! It's also so cute and touching watching his vulnerabilities when getting sea sick on a yacht and fear of heights on a mountain! Wonderful show! R.I.P. Mr. Falk!
He stared in a movie close to my house in NJ, it was a bar scene.....people at the bar said he was a gentleman...........many pictures are on the wall showing out-takes etc. .....the bar was closed for 3 days for shooting, wish I were there, huge fan since 1965.........first saw him in some comedies as a kid w/ my Dad in the movies......people at the filming location said he was just a very average guy, down to earth, nice guy.......glad you like his work too...
machia0705 I believe you. He seemed like he would have been fun to work with and fun to know. So many of our icons are gone. I can just be grateful for the memories and hope I leave behind works that live on to be admired as well. Thanks for sharing @machia0705:)
I can share this story with you too......Just to show what a great sense of humor he had at a young age, I remeber a story he told about trying to join the Marine Corp. during World War 2. As he was getting the physical, a Navy medic noticed he was tryng to cheat on the eye exam and realized he had a glass eye. So he couldn't join any of the services so decided to join the Merchant Marines. So on his first night on the ship, the guy he was bunking with, noticed Peter Falk taking his glass eye out. Peter Falk saw this and decided to have alittle fun. He also had a bridge, loosing his 2 front teeth as a kid in a fight, so he took his teeth out and layed them next to his glass eye. Seeing that this really got the other guys attention, he made beleive he was unsrewing his leg ! lol The guy left the room ! ha ha ha I was a huge Peter Falk fan, and he brought a lot of good comedies and dramas to us through the years. His films, and of course his Columbo TV series lives on...he was a good guy, a real gentleman.
Oh I so completely agree with your comment, thank you for sharing it! Every year or so I'm a Columbo junkie myself (usually in winter) and I watch all the eps until spring is here ! He's such a delight to watch :)
Columbo was probably the greatest show, ever. I don't think many would argue with me on that. And Peter made it that way. It was his essence that captivated the public and made him an icon. There were so many fascinating facets to his character. And I love Shera- what an actress and beauty! He was a lucky guy, for sure! R.I.P. Peter
Thanks for this lovely tribune. Peter and Shera met the old-fashioned way -- at work. They got to know each other gradually and formed a deep, lasting relationship that stood the test of time.
Me too I discovered Columbo recently (that Christmas) but I can't get tired of it now ! =) It's really sweet the two of them played together so often, they had great chemistry !
Wow, that's beautiful. Thanks for making it. I loved Columbo and am in my own re-watching phase and appreciate your taking the time to honor Peter and Shera.
Wow, thank you so much for your lovely comment ! This is the tribute I've enjoyed doing the most and I'm so glad you like it :) One can never rewatch Columbo too much :)
I am watching Columbo right now for the hundred time and will another hundred! I take all the episodes at the library here in Las Vegas! Like I used to do in Sao Paulo Brasil watching with my dear daddy every week in the '80th! Peter Falk, I just love you and Lt. Columbo is an inspiration for those who wants became a detective!
Well well...you live and learn.....so this is the real Mrs Columbo...I wondered who this lady is as she appears in several episodes of Columbo. What a lovely tribute Thank you!
I love Columbo and always will, though I belong to a few generations after his golden era. No contemporary series can compete in any way. Peter Falk was a great guy and it's nice to see him in love in these pictures. I liked her a lot too, and she was an amazing beauty when they got married. Thanks for posting!
My all time favorite episode was 10-7-1973 Any Old Port in a Storm. I remember watching this live as a young boy back in 1973 and have thoroughly enjoyed re-watching it as an adult on the DVD series. I actually went to the filming location. This episode was shot at the old Mirrasou winery at 3000 Aborn Road, San Jose, California. Unfortunately, there is nothing left. The Mirrasou’s sold out, just like the protagonist in the Columbo episode. It has been bulldozed and turned into a dam subdivision! There is only one small little building left and I don’t' recognize it from the Columbo episode. I met George Hamilton in La Cage Au Faux in Denver a couple of years ago. He was in a 1975 Columbo episode called A Deadly State of Mind. I met George at the stage door after the play in Denver. He was very gracious and signed autographs for all. When it was my turn, and I asked him about being in this Colombo 1975 episode, he lit up like a Christmas Tree and dropped all of the other people in line. He took me aside and talked with me for a full 10 minutes about what a great and decent man Peter Falk was and how they had filmed that particular episode. George told me that Peter had told him that this episode, A Deadly State of Mind, had been Peter's favorite! What a coup. George Hamilton personally told me that Peter exercised “complete creative control” over everything that went out over the air on Columbo. George became almost like a little child in recalling what it had been like to be on screen with Peter in Columbo 4 decades ago. I wish I had been able to meet Peter in person.
You refer to the episode of a man who has a winery and kills his brother cause they are not agree with the business? Great story about George, what a kind man!!
What Shera was really like, told by Peter Falks daughter Catherine: "Nothing prepares a child at any age for parental divorce and remarriage to a bitter, spiteful, jealous, and greedy spouse! No child at age 6 is ever prepared to have the door slammed shut by the second spouse visiting our dad at his new home on Roxbury! No child from age 6 onward is prepared to witness and listen to our father be on the receiving end of verbal abuse and feel powerless to such miserable circumstances. No adult child is ever prepared to not have her father give her away at her wedding because the second spouse insisted my father not attend the wedding since she wasn’t invited and never has been included in any event of mine in years past. No child at any age is prepared to witness a parent suffering with Alzheimer’s be arrested by the second spouse for alleged spousal abuse on that child’s birthday when witnessing a black eye from time to time on the arresting party who claimed he walked into a door knob on a few occasions! No child at any age is prepared to fight in court just to say goodbye to her dad when isolated by a spouse because he doesn’t have the capacity anymore to make that phone call for help like he used to. No child at any age is prepared to face pure evil excluding all children and long distance college friends from the funeral or knowing the burial location! No adult child is ever prepared to search cemeteries all over Los Angeles looking for our parent’s burial location out of pure spite by a second spouse 25 years his junior! The pain, the sorrow, and sadness are all of the reasons I created the first draft of the Peter Falk Bill(visitation rights) for California in 2011 right after my dad passed away! Through pain and tragedy, comes the triumph over it! A second, third and even an eighth spouse can rob the entire estate of 50 million dollars to support a plastic existence but she certainly can’t take away the love, the memories and the wonderful photographs that keep me close to my dad! I wouldn’t trade it for all of the money, botox, facial fillers and plastic surgery in the world! This photograph reminds me of what his facial expression would be like if he was faced with any challenge or obstacle!" ~Catherine Falk
Well done Catherine, what you have done had to be done,im just sorry it had to be you but future generations will thank you for it i wish you all the very best
In my opinion I think it's very sad Catherine had to write bad things about her stepmother. Her father chose Shera and they loved each other, they were together for 30 yrs, he could have divorced her if he wasn't happy. His daughter should try to accept that and let her wonderful father Rest In Peace now. Just my opinion !
@@bridielondon2764 They did not have happy marriage. Peter continued with his infidelities(as he did in his first marriage) and they almost got divorced twice. she stayed for the $$$ and drove his children away and him to the grave.
He picked her ! She tried to leave him over and over, but he was always able to convince her to stay with him. No other woman wanted to stay around his abuse. His kind of abuse has a horrible effect on a woman. Anyone who doesn't know what I'm referring to, you can read about it in a book, " Beyond Columbo". Or, you can read this article about the book: “He drank and smoked incessantly, loved boozing with his friends and was an inveterate womanizer,” says Lertzman. “He was a negligent husband and an absentee father. Yet, he became one of the most iconic stars of his generation.” Falk romanced college sweetheart for 12 years before marrying in 1960, then relentlessly cheated on her. “He was an incorrigible philanderer,” says Lertzman. “On every film set he was pursuing other women. His first wife turned a blind eye to his infidelities but, it hurt and finally she had enough.” They divorced in 1976 and the next year Falk married his longtime mistress, actress Shera Danese, 22 years his junior. Falk had spotted Shera walking in Philadelphia three years earlier, and chased her through the streets begging for a date. “She wasn’t interested,” Falk recalled. “I kept at it. She conceded to a hello over a cocktail.” Yet, even through his second marriage Falk’s cheating continued, with explosive results. “Peter was a carouser, who loved being around other guys, drinking and playing pool and behaving badly till sunrise,” says author Birnes. “He was a man’s man, drinking beer, Scotch and gin. He was never happier than when he was out drinking with his friends.” “He was a negligent husband and an absentee father. Me and my family have been watching Columbo for 50 years - Columbo ( Peter) is a half God for us.... I would really have liked to have met him. Shera I wish you all the best for the future - you are also very special in our hearts. All the best!
This is so beautifull.. please be proud of your dad... he gave us so much pleasure in the past. When my freinds said to me come out to party i said no.. Columbo is on tonight...Dear Family Falk, in my opinion your dad was perfect
Thank you so much, it's really very sweet of you ! :D Aww! No I didn't know that I'm glad I do, it's really beautiful ! Poor Shera, she must be lonely now !

Just watched the parody on Casablanca. It was terrific. I wish I could see the Christmas shows where he played Max. Is watch all of them that’s played. Love him. 2021 He is timeless.
I adore Peter Falk but it makes me so cross when he had dementia & trying to be the person he was & obviously not terribly 'with it' - who on earth made him go on book signing when he was not - they should be ashamed of themselves !!!!!!!!!

A huge fan of Peter Falk. Never cared for Shera Danese. . She only appeared on (anything) because of Peter. The only good thing is that she made him happy. . However, when he was in such bad health, she did not even let his children know ! A law was passed that does not allow that to happen anymore . She was bad . Used him to get parts on his shows.

Anyone who doesn't know what I'm referring to, you can read about it in a book, " Beyond Columbo".

“On every film set he was pursuing other women. His first wife turned a blind eye to his infidelities but, it hurt and finally she had enough.”
They divorced in 1976 and the next year Falk married his longtime mistress, actress Shera Danese, 22 years his junior.
Falk had spotted Shera walking in Philadelphia three years earlier, and chased her through the streets begging for a date.
“She wasn’t interested,” Falk recalled. “I kept at it. She conceded to a hello over a cocktail.”
Yet, even through his second marriage Falk’s cheating continued, with explosive results.
“Peter was a carouser, who loved being around other guys, drinking and playing pool and behaving badly till sunrise,” says author Birnes.
“He was a man’s man, drinking beer, Scotch and gin. He was never happier than when he was out drinking with his friends.”
“He was a negligent husband and an absentee father. "

Very sweet. One of my favorite actors.
Me and my family have been watching Columbo for 50 years - Columbo ( Peter) is a half God for us.... I would really have liked to have met him. Shera I wish you all the best for the future - you are also very special in our hearts. All the best!
I must say, too, that Shera Danese is remarkably striking, for not just her looks, but her salient intelligence and superb acting.
Lovely man, God bless xxx

Один из самых лучших, любимых актёров . 💐
He was a verry handsome man❤😍
I adore Peter Falk but it makes me so cross when he had dementia & trying to be the person he was & obviously not terribly 'with it' - who on earth made him go on book signing when he was not - they should be ashamed of themselves !!!!!!!!!

Awwww lovely they look like they are really in love x
Such a sweet couple!
Mr and Mrs Columbo ❣️
A huge fan of Peter Falk. Never cared for Shera Danese. . She only appeared on (anything) because of Peter. The only good thing is that she made him happy. . However, when he was in such bad health, she did not even let his children know ! A law was passed that does not allow that to happen anymore . She was bad . Used him to get parts on his shows.
La . mejor serie de todos los tiempos 👍👍❤️
Columbo c'est mon héros
