It's a great travel card. Great for rental cars, frequent United airline flyers, frequent Southwest airline flyers, Hyatt hotel lovers, IHG hotel lovers, and for places that don't accept Amex around the world.
Considering the simplicity making it effectively a $250 annual card I really like the 3x on Travel since chase has a massive broad definition of what falls under the category of “Travel”
Depends on the region and type of expenses one has. For single traveling sales people in the mid-west, CSR > Amex Gold. More United Airlines and Southwest airlines hubs to fly out of, and less restaurants that accept Amex. For those with a family near a Delta hub, the Amex Gold is far better. Baby diapers, baby formula, and other groceries add up over time for a family of 4. Also points directly transfer to Delta Airlines. Families flying out of LAX, SEA, MSP, DTW, ATL, JFK, and BOS benefit the most.
Chase is currently offering a 80,000 point sign on bonus and first yr annual fee waived for the sapphire preferred if you apply in branch. Just got it last Friday. You can always snag this promo then downgrade the card to the freedom unlimited or flex the. Apply for the reserve, if they ever come back with a 100k sign on bonus again.
Great presentation👍🏾 I was surprised to see that I'm already doing your recommended strategy. I have the Chase trifecta with CSP, and am just waiting for more "normal" travel to resume, as well as to see what product innovations the CSR comes up with before upgrading. I may check out your "Uprise" free consultation as well, since I have a novice interest in investing. FYI: the Dash pass benefit has been extended thru end of 2024 for the Sapphire product line. Subscribed🙂
There should still be a link that's going around for the Reserve where the sign-up bonus is 70K. The only thing that you need to have a Chase account at the least.
Sign up bonuses for AMEX cards is only once in a lifetime per card. However, one is able to get another sapphire sign up bonus after 48 months or 4 years. It's a bit of extra work but one example is: Once you've held onto either the sapphire preferred or reserve for 4 years, product change (downgrade) it to either of the freedom cards. Wait a while and apply for either of the sapphire cards again and you should be eligible for the welcome bonus again.

I loooooove this card!!
You did an AWESOME review. I'm going to subscribe
Thanks so much! I appreciate the support!
Yeah the Reserve card needs to up their game. I feel the Venture X and Amex Gold are already better cards.
Good point, I'll have to do some comparison reviews!
