Just completed my Google IT support professional certificate as a way to get my foot into the door of IT. I’m in healthcare so transitioning is no joke lol. Now just started the new Google cyber security program. Cyber security engineer is my end goal. Let’s go!
I learned networking in 2002. It has changed so much since then. I’m so glad I’m having the opportunity to return to the IT industry. I greatly appreciate your free course, which cost me thousands 20 years ago and was not as well designed as yours. A million thanks.
Good luck. I'm in a similar journey getting back to the IT industry after a long hiatus because of circumstances. I agree that a lot has changed but the foundations haven't changed much and the amount of free information that you can get is phenomenal. You just need to put in the hard work.
I am just transitioning into cybersecurity, stumbled upon lots of material available on the internet for few days and eventually landed on this course for beginners by Google. I must say that this course lays the foundation for anyone who wants to get their foot into this field. Great job by Google Team and all the mentors of these courses. Kudos to you!
My passion to be in the I.T space nearly got quenched until I met this google training package, I am inspired each an everyday to learn and listen more. I cant wait to give back what I have learnt as an It T analyst or cyber security analyst. Its a great journey. Thanks everyone and especially to the google team
I am student of finance and account but i am loving the cyber security program more than my degree. I am currently in the very network course and i think its most important topic. I am so loving this course. Thank you Google for giving opportunity for all over the world to learn collectively. 🎉
I've listened to this video multiple times and I still learn more and more! Thanks for igniting passion Chris. I get learn so much from you. I feel I am more closer to my career in Cybersecurity!
I am still a baby in Cybersecurity. It's a great pleasure to have access to this opportunity. Many thanks to Google. Hopefully, I will also be able to become Guru in it soon too.
I am learning these courses from coursera and completing the assignments as well. getting a very good understanding from the explanations. Thank you Google for making such an effort to transform our careers to a better technologies that are future ready.
It is worth it. I just completed the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate today 5th June 2023. Although, I spend an average of 12 hours every day for 30 days. I enrolled on 05th May 2023. I started the program without any background order python basic, both today, I can use Linux, Suricata, SQL, Python, and Splunk tools. It helped me to develop security mindset. I am really happy. Mind YOU, IT ALSO GIVES 30% discount for CompTIA certification. Next two weeks will be preparation for interviews and elevation pitch is next. I am sure I will be in the first 10 CANDIDATES to complete it today. That is if there is people are also crazy marathon learners like me. I penned down every word from the videos, made note from the reading and worked all the lab activities. My notebook is about 600 PAGES. I just wanted it to sink into my brain and i call recall them unconsciously. It was a great moment for me especially someone who is new to cybersecurity. During this month, i spent 318 hours learning cybersecurity, checking your reference resources and caught extra bit completion certificate from Cyberprotect and DoD unclassified training. It is time to go and complete my IT SUPPORT Professional Certificate that I stopped at course 2 to enable me complete Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate. I can assure that your life will change if you take the courses lie your life depend on it. Use the extra suggestion resources. The more you expose yourself to cybersecurity resources the more it becomes easier for you. Increase exposure to those materials is more like you are training your brain repeatedly. It is difficult, especially, if one is new to tech. But it is doable
Appreciate the Networking course is so important to me as a owner of a business, online and remote. I have learned more in analysis which has been an excellent help to me. Understanding more about the network, internet, awareness and detections has execllently help me with my cybersecurity.
Sir, you truly disserve a million thanks for such good narration about the network fundamentals. even i have hiatus back to IT after a decade and finding it so easy after listening to you. If it happens to perceive same course those days it was so expensive. wishing many more articles like this related to CyberSecurity. May God Bless You and Your associates.
Chris, fabulous beard and mustache! And from what I’m reading in the comments, I’m in for another great series of videos. I definitely need all the review I can get on networking, subnetting and binary math. Looking forward to it!
The networking module of the cyber security specialization from coursera is 12 hours long. Is this a summary of this section or a complete compressed videos?
It is 12 hours because it involves sections that you have to read and exercises you have to do. The videos are interspersed with the reading sections, so no, the videos are not a compression.
Started after the 1st web search and you are hooked wether you like it or not. Also since 2017 "Once a Google LLCer always a GoogleLLC er". Really should advise people start of vid to download Wireshark" so see listening ports come and go without your consent😊
Just curious how you can complare Cloud data to baseline if no info is stored on the server because "we don't have space" or "it's too expensive" or "the Cloud is better; all hail the Cloud!" Or is the only solution to silently curse management and compare current with past Cloud data as a potential indicator of a hack? And is there a term for this sort of umm oversight?

If you are interested in financial assistance, you may be eligible for financial aid via Coursera through the course page. Do you have a portfolio of work you can show to employers? A portfolio of projects that you can discuss with employers is probably your best bet to get around your GPA. I never gave out my GPA when applying for jobs after college. Keep applying for job after job. There HAS to be a job that doesn't care about GPAs. If you feel like you haven't learned anything from your degree program, certs might help. Build a portfolio and then consider certs if you're struggling to put what your degree program has taught you into practice. Good luck!
