My 6 months recovery from a full distal bicep tear. Music: Mountains by Hans Zimmer. His website: hans-zimmer.com/ My Instagram: mathewzlat... Thank you for watching!
Broo, I feel bad for you, you probably lost a lot of progress. You're one of the people that inspire me to conquer my dreams in calisthenics and I am very grateful for that. I hope you get better soon! 🙏
If you train hard, you will very likely have set backs/injuries, some small and some large. The body God gave us is amazing in that it can heal and we can continue to get stronger. Or one could just train sub-optimally, not maximizing their potential and never being injured.
i broke my wrist 1 year ago and after many surgeries i finally started working out again 3 weeks ago, seeing this gives me hope i can regain my strength 💪🏻
@@ericans6323 i broke it snowboarding, as an update to this comment: i made most of my progress back in 6 months but unfortunately i had another accident and dislocated my shoulder. i am once again back in the gym now after 2 months recovery to get back on track. never give up guys
@@saliherenyuzbasoglu5819 definitely man, i never skip my warm-ups. the injuries are not workout related but just from accidents while snowboarding (high level freestyle). the wrist injury has given me a lot of mobility issues though. floor handstands are not happening anytime soon :(
this actually got me emotional, i thought you lost all the progress from looking at the start of the video, but in reality this is the best comeback from a serious injury ive ever seen
i cant watch the snap lol. i just cant. i hate seeing shit like that hahaha but i hope ur doing well big bro. ur a monster! sky is the limit for you champ. LETS GO
Great recovery bro, I almost tore my bicep on a weighted Chin. Do you think this can be eliminated by sticking to pronated weighted pulls instead of supernated?
In hindsight, do you know what caused the bicep tear? Not enough recovery? Too fast a progression? Is there a good way to gauge the health of your tendons before a tear happens?
@@advantageofthedisadvantage7213 what the variety has to do with that? He was doing mainly chin-ups, so that's exactly what his body was adapting to, why do something else?
Congratulations on your recovery! You gain so much strength back to close to your PR levels, impressive 🤯! Your videos inspired me to pursue training in weighted calisthenics. I barely can pull 48 kg for 1 rep in pull up. You're way too strong!! 👌👍

Mat, do you think you could have prevented this by actually doing more isolation/assistance work or exercise variation? Because your case reminds me of Charles Poliquin talking about how Dorian Yates could have prevented his many tears/injuries by including more variation in his low exercise selection, high intensity routine.
Why did the injury happen? Do you think you could have prevented it? (like, by warming up more that same day, or paying attention to any painful signals the days before and taking deloads, etc.)

hey methew!
big respect bro
wanted to ask you something about my current program
I do push pull legs weithed calisthenics combined with deadilfts and squats on leg days
I do on push 4x5 dips weighted 3x5 handstand pushups and few sets of skills and planche progression(L sit 3 x 15 sec and pseudo pushups)
for pull day 4x5 pull ups 3x5 muscle ups and 3 sets front lever raises
my main question is does my program have too much volume?
or should I add more?
i really don't know recovery for now seems about right what do you think?
What do you think, what can be a reason for injury? Overtraining or not good warm up or something else.
What would you recommend for injury prevention in the future? For bicep tears
Seems like muscles recover really fast
Could you please specify the reason of the tear? What was the cause?

How did you tear it? Was it weighted pull up?

Because your case reminds me of Charles Poliquin talking about how Dorian Yates could have prevented his many tears/injuries by including more variation in his low exercise selection, high intensity routine.

Would you mind sharing your typical day of eating to recover?

Bro I swear to get stronger again but I have a question. Why you don’t try to use close grip in chin-ups? It’s safer and extremely effective
i didnt know its possible to get bicep tear from chin ups? how did this happen?
Why did the injury happen? Do you think you could have prevented it? (like, by warming up more that same day, or paying attention to any painful signals the days before and taking deloads, etc.)
Chin-up
@@magnus263 Sure, but he have trained chin ups with +100 kg before. Why did the bicep got injured this time and not before? There must be a reason
@@Against_Gravity I consider that wide grip is not so safe, I believe that a closer grip is way batter
@@user-pf3eg5uq4r Yeah maybe that's true since there's more torque in the joints (shoulder and elbow not vertically aligned).
How much it hurts
hows it going bro?
How you tear your bicep?
Did you ever return on YT videos?
Make those biceps come back stronger pelican curls super carefully tho ease into progression
Legend
200kg dip when?
Wow 100kg dips looked like warm up
How heavy was the set you got injured? Also what was your max before injury?
80kg for 8 reps
It was supposed to be 97,5kg for 6. My pull up pr is 125kg

Very good video . Can someone get a biecep surgery after 4-5 years of injury? .is it possible ?
Thank you
It depends the training and the each person. But I consider that so wide chin-ups are dangerous
My biggest fear is getting injured

personally wouldn't of even went back to using weight
