Back in the day this was a great addition to sonic collection. So much darker than sonic 1 and 2 pretty much like the tv series sonic. Rather than it being all cutesy.
I mean they were dark tho, Robotnik enslaving your friends in his machines and making that Mega Mack substance in his factory, plus those last zones...
@@Monacomaverick It's possible to code fast C, and even use assembly in C. Getting fast graphics on the Genesis meant using lots of hardware tricks which they had no time to finesse.
This is probably the only Classic era game constructed solely by American team (even the soundtrack). Hell, you could tell that's SatAM cartoon Sonic during the pinball stages.
I love the elements of satAM and AOSTH in it, also the bits of classic sonic thrown in, and some of the horror game aesthetic like how the bosses look... It's just the gameplay is a bit dull of you can say that

For me this game was more Creepier than CD (USA ost) The stages that maked me fear this game was the Roboiler and the Veg-o-machine. But this game is a Great classic.

It made more sense to use kid Amy (whose rights they had acquired fairly recently). They weren't able to update the manuals because of how late this change occurred.
You ever just make it to the first boss and fall all the way back down and die which caused you to throw your controller in rage because it took you hours to find the damn fourth chaos emeralds... I miss being young sometimes
@@skylercanterbury_games Yeah but bosses can't "damage" you at all is more the point. If you fall out of the arena, you're basically still at the very tip top of the map and need several screw-ups in a row to die. It's just a time waster to get back to it.
"No Damage" In that game, the only "damage" you can get is to either die or lose all your balls But in bosses fight, the worst they can do is trying to send you back to the level or to keep you at the bottom part
The encroaching surreal horror is what made this game stand out more than silent hill ever could, and an underestimated marvel for what it could accomplish despite the janky physics. A side note, the narration bar at the top would taunt you if you loitered around in safe spot on a boss fight lol.

It took me a couple of tries to get past the 3rd stage but I finished the game.
The highest level I got was the second.

Scratch makes an appearance in Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine as well.
Antoine doesn't appear here, but Sonic's dog Muttski does.
Scratch and Grounder are normal enemies in Sonic 2, although they look a bit different.

Because it was made by a different team. Also the freedom figthers (Sally, Rotor and Bonnie) show up in the bonus pinball game.
It was designed to tie-in to the SatAM continuity of cartoons and comics, which were a lot darker than the main series.
