Hello I'm David and I'm a square body aholic.......lol. Just found your channel, like your content. When I do the gas tanks I cut up inner tubes and use them. Be careful with those pads you used they are absorbent and will hold moisture. Also when you clean parts that aren't going to be painted I will spray some rattle can clear coat on them like the metal part of the filler neck. My son and I just started a Blazer project for him as he will be getting his license soon.
seventimechamp #3 inner tubes are a great idea wish I woulda though of that before hand. The good news is I won’t be driving the pickup in any bad weather and it is always garage kept. Good start those kids young on squares they won’t have money money for drugs when they get older 😂.
New to the channel , I just replaced my fuel system as well and I just had my c10 for 2 months now and found out your going to be in my city Fort Worth for c10 national🤘🏽
New subscriber here. I was working on my 86 K-10 Silverado longbed earlier today taking out the driver side gas tank since it has dual tanks. I'll be getting the sending units for both sides. I enjoyed watching this video and you have a cool truck.
Thank you, I will keep your help in mind if I come across any problems that I couldn't figure out on my truck. FYI, I had a hard time finding a vacuum advance distributor for my truck but finally found it and Cardone.com carried it and the part number is 30-1875 but I had to reuse the wiring harness off my old distributor that I think is for the timing control which is easy to take off in case if someone asks you on here. Thanks again..👍
When I replaced the fuel sending unit, I replaced the short rubber hoses attached to the sending unit because rubber starts cracking up over time and the mechanical fuel pump wouldn't siphon out the fuel from the tank if there's a crack in the rubber hose. The rubber hoses were cracked on mines.
I apologize if you already mentioned it but can you please tell me what 3 sizes of fuel hose did you use on the tank?? Thank you so much great video also going to help me out a lot👍👍
I was wondering if you knew if I could run the TBI tank and an old sending unit. I want the baffled tank because I want to run an Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 down the road but for now I want to run a carb.
I just got my first square body last week. It is an ‘84 K20. The previous owner replaced the driver side tank but did not replace the straps and they are in really bad shape. My question is, so the tanks on these trucks can be removed and reinstalled without having to move or take the bed off? Thank you for your video man and I look forward to hearing back. 😉👍🏻
Yes sir there should be 4 bolts holding the each tank strap to the frame. Just undo them and the hoses going to the sending unit, along with the filler neck and it should drop right out.
It’s usually easiest to drop the tank down a little bit and remove the hoses then, it’s a pretty tight squeeze. I always install new lines and leave them longer then I need so I can route them as I install the tank.
I HAVE A 87 CHEVY C10 AND I LOVE IT DEATH. BUT YES IT BERNS OIL LIKE A CHU CHU TRAIN AND FUEL FAILED THE OTHER DAY AND THE GAS TANK IS RUSTY SO I HAVE TO REPLACE IT TO

Spectra Premium Fuel Tank GM11C Fuel Tank is the same part number for both sides. You’d probably be better off going to you’re local parts store and picking up the sending units and pump for each tank. Most places online are out of stock.
I have a 82 c10 my gas tank is on the driver side. I got a new bed and the gas door is on the passenger can I move the gas tank to the other side? Would I have to replace the sending unit?
@@diegomares4001 you will need a passenger side sending unit for a 1982 c10 if you just switch the tank to the passenger side. And will need to switch the tank straps and brackets around to make the tank facing the correct way. You’ll need a tank filler neck for a 75 bed.

Wow, really? It takes me half an hour to do this job. Pop the bed mounting bolts, disconnect filler hose, separate taillights connector and lift the bed off. Then I've got easy access to the tank. Okay another 20 minutes if you're changing out the tank entirely. But sending unit installed is 30 minutes.
Extremely helpful video. Some reason I thought I was Gina have to remove bed. Thank you!
Glad I was able to help you out.
