Yes baby. I'm crying it's so beautiful. I started out watching just this show and then I found out it had three other installments and books to which I purchased ALL. So good. What my LGBT heart NEEDED.
Yhea, but that doesn't really work for a worldwide appeal for people that need dubbing or subtitles. But Netflix did the same for Gilmore Girls and Arrested Development, so just put these mini-series up for people to watch, and maybe the show itself will be more successful because of it.
Me, too! I was in high school when the original 1993 miniseries aired and I told myself then and there that I would move to San Francisco. A few years later I did. I even had the experience of living on Macondray Lane for a while (and I climbed those wooden steps every single day). While I no longer live in the City, I still look back on those years with love.
@@philiproice7344 Well, I am a bit older than you, it was the books that inspired me, I could not put them down (and I was not even a reader) but I was hell bent on getting there. I did...met my now husband (together 22 years) and I no longer live in the City either but return often to visit.
@@philiproice7344 I used to cut through the lane occasionally on my way to work, during the few months I lived there in 2001. Doesn't look anything like the miniseries, but it was still cool. For the last month or so I was there, I moved to Telegraph Hill, and my commute was the Filbert Steps.
OMG, I came very close to moving to SF after watching the original Tales when it first aired on PBS. I was living at home with my parents on the east coast and working a job that I despised more than life itself. I gave myself 3 months to change my situation or I would just pack up my shit in my Toyota Celica and drive across the country to SF to find my own 28 Barbary Lane. Needless to say... life changed and I eventually ended up in NYC, which was kind of my Plan B. Still, 25 years later, I often think about SF and how different my life would be if I had just packed up my car and followed the sun.

I can hardly wait to see this. I loved the original series. I bought the DVDs and watch them often. Kudos, Armistead. You have helped shape the lives of so many LGBT people, and inspired more to come out.
This is just beyond - these books were my whole life, and Armistead has always been that voice inside my own head, helping me put the pieces of myself together, and when the first series aired, I cried when Ms..Madrigal, Mary Anne, Mona and Mouse appeared just as I had imagined them, in television "real life"' I was born and raised in the city - thank you Netflix for giving these characters new life - I am beyond excited - and cried a little again to see "old friends".
UPDATED FOR 2019: Anna Madrigal now rents out the house exclusively to tech workers who constantly complain about the strength of the Wifi at 28 Barbary Lane.
I watched this first. Fell absolutely in love, Than i watched all 3 original miniseries and rewatched this! And got a bit confused by the timeline. And missing characters, if it’s supposed to follow the story, but it is still a beautiful story in its own right, love these newer characters.
Real Talk for real, haven’t seen the x-men in years and I don’t really remember individual characters besides the really famous ones like magenta, professor x, and wolverine.
LOL-yes from look of trailer think I might have trouble suspending disbelief on this one.The first series of books was hilarious, though..I always remember"you cannot be fashionably late for a jerk- off party"
I have all the books loaded on my Kindle. Have read them all at least 2 times. And own all the dvd's. I look forward to reuniting with the Barbary Lane family.
So looking forward to this. They should have filmed the first six books and then the following books as they were published. For anyone that hasn’t seen the original series they are still available on dvd and in the UK the first two series are on All 4 to stream or download for free.
As I understand it it is an adaptation of the last three novels; "Michael Toliver Lives" "Maryanne in Autumn" and "The Days of Anna Madrigal" all about the characters in modern 2000's-2010's San Francisco.
This better be good 😊 The first series was absolute gold. Nothing has come close since. I just hope (fuck praying) it does it justice - here’s hoping 🤞
loved the original even tho i was prob too young to properly appreciate it, looking fwd to this! netflix don’t you want me to leave the house..like ever??
Looks nice. Warm messaging - colorful imagery, loving behaviors. Here's a question: in an environment that exalts non-conformity as a virtue - doesn't that essentially become their version of conformity ? I mean - look how violently we denounce anyone who rejects rainbow acceptance. Look at the hatred that gets piled onto anyone who sounds "traditional". Haven't we essentially made rainbow a mandatory color scheme?

Is Netflix at least putting up the original mini-series up for 99% of the people in the world that havent seen this.
but you can watch the show on youtube.
